We tried Chan Chemuyil for the first time & it did not disappoint. Very cute little house. Basic as advertised but had every comfort we needed for our trip.
We will be back :)
We stayed at this nice little house for 2 weeks. Thomas the owner is very responsive and took care of everything we needed even after our check in. Property manager Patricio and his wife Ellena are very nice and kind people and always checked on us.
The house has everything you need. There is no TV setup, which we were grateful for. The back patio is very cute and has a hammock and outdoor shower.
There is a small but lovely town Chemuyil 2 minutes away and has small stores for basic every day needs.
We had wonderful here and loved our stay.
The little community of Chan Cheymuyil is friendly and the perfect location to explore Quintana Roo and the Yucatan. Property was exactly as described.

Best of the Bunch!
So many things made this casita great. The covered back yard especially, made the hot afternoons an oasis where we could be outside but relax with books and hammock naps. We looked online at many of the casitas at Chan Chemuyil - but this one was the only one where there was protection from the hot sun in afternoons. Very nice plants and shrubs too.
The kitchen was well stocked with basic kitchenware- we made every meal and even roasted chickens in the oven. Closets kept things organized, place was clean, and all AC and appliances in good working order.
There was more privacy at Casa Aak Chak than other Casas in Chan Chemuyil. The 'community' is very safe - we enjoyed long walks at sunrise and sunset through and around the area.
We highly recommend renting a car to stay here - a journey into Tulum to get groceries! And pretty much essential if you wish to explore ruins or go on tours in the area.
We spent every morning at the Turtle Reserve beach - hopefully that will still be public in the future as there are almost no other public beaches along the whole coast.
Our host Cowboy gave us a delightful tour of the pueblo Chemuyil and we drove over there often for quick supplies and Cervezas. (Again, a pretty long and HOT walk - best with a car).
We feel very fortunate to have found this place and highly recommend.

Wonderful casa, comfortable, clean and well located
We enjoyed a lot the covered back-yard, with garden, so it was protected from the direct sun.

About the host
Hosted by Thomas Gordon
I have traveled the world and found the Mayan Riviera to be the best place to relax and explore. I live and work in New York in the entertainment business. In Brooklyn, NY I have a flock of chickens in my yard and honeybees on my roof.
Why they chose this property
This home is located in a small village of like-minded expats super laid back and very friendly. There are no resorts nearby and the neighboring Mexican village is full of locals and gives you an authentic Mexican experience. This area of the Mayan Riviera is also very eco-conscious and sensitive to the surrounding ecosystems.
What makes this property unique
Here you can meet fellow travelers from around the world or wander down the road and plant yourself in the middle of a Mexican village and fraternize with locals. You have your own cenotes to cool off in, listen to tropical birds in the morning and relax at your own pace. This location is also a perfect base for trips throughout the Yucatan.
