From the screened-in and sun porches just outside, you can hear the pounding surf on Bald Head's South Beach and watch ocean-going ships pass in and out of the Cape Fear River as you bathe in the sun… or enjoy your morning coffee in the fan-cooled shade after a walk, bike, or run around the island. Our wired Bluetooth speaker system ensures that you can play your favorite beach music indoors and out. And our ample library of books—from beach reads to best sellers—rises behind the big screen television

However you choose to unwind, you'll do so while nestled in the privacy of our oversized estate lot, surrounded by Bald Head’s unique subtropical greenery. Keep an eye out for deer grazing in the palms and ferns covering our lot and keep an eye out for ospreys swooping overhead. During the high summer, you can watch the sunset from our westward-facing sun porch while relaxing in our rocking chairs and enjoying a tasty beverage.

The second floor has an oversized kitchen with granite countertops, a big screen TV/DVD, lots of books to catch up on your summer reading, and OUTSTANDING ocean views, a glimpse of Old Baldy, plus a slim view of the golf course out the back kitchen window. The greenery on our lot will remind you, each day of your vacation, that Bald Head Island is not just another beach - it offers the best of the ocean, the maritime forests, and the Cape Fear River. Our rare, oversized lot, on a quiet cul de sac, affords you privacy and seclusion from noise and neighbors, and the chance to gaze at abundant birds crisscrossing overhead and deer poking through the lush vegetation on our estate lot.

The dining room table seats eight to ten; the outside dining table seats four, plus there is kitchen bar seating for 4. The screened porch with a paddle fan and upholstered chairs will allow you to spend long hours enjoying the indoor/outdoor sound system while enjoying coffee, a meal or drinks, while watching passing ships. Ships come close to shore at the end of our street before proceeding up the Cape Fear River, so bring your binoculars to catch the details on the ship decks as they pass by!

The two, large master bedrooms, each with a bathroom, king-sized bed with pillow-top mattress, built-in closets, and remote control 43” smart TV in armoire, make this home perfect for TWO FAMILIES. The master bedrooms open out to a full length shade porch facing the ocean, perfect for reading, napping, playing cards or games (two folding card tables are stored in one master closet), or reading. Assorted puzzles and board games are stored upstairs in the family room. The other two bedrooms, each with two twin beds, are spacious and bright, and share a full bath. 'Second Wind is app. 2800 sq. ft., has hardwood floors throughout, nine foot ceilings and free wireless internet access.

Approximately 650 feet from the ocean. One short block to South Beach. Unobstructed ocean views down the length of our street, Water Thrush Court. One long block walk or cart ride to the newly expanded BHI Club and 3 restaurants, where you can enjoy golf, the pool, formal or casual dining, pickleball, tennis and indoor workout room, make this a UNIQUE location on the island. You will love the convenience of casual breakfast, lunch and dinner at Horizons or the restaurants inside the BHI Club, or relaxing poolside at the BHI pool. Or, stop in at the Shoals Club during or after a visit to East Beach; a temporary Shoals Club membership is also available for separate purchase.

Two golf carts, one SIX-seater and one FOUR-seater are provided, along with a trailer that hooks to the small golf cart for beach hauling. The six-seater golf cart is a must for transporting kids and beach gear. Also provided are at least two bicycles (bike rentals are also available on the island if more are needed), 8 beach chairs a couple of umbrellas, plus lots of kids' beach toys.

The BHI Club and Shoals are BOTH available for separate purchase (not included in the rates or fees listed on this website). You apply and pay for these memberships directly with the Club; rates are available on the respective Club websites.
