Lovely home, serene and beautiful setting.

I hosted my 16 and 18-year-old nephews and one of their pals for the weekend. They all LOVED it - spent the entire time fishing - from the canoe provided and also wading through the water, which is from knee to chest-high. I woke up the first morning to see them already across the river, in the canoe and wading chest-high in the water fishing-rods cast, herons flying and 35 small ducks cruising by. These young uns normally do not rise until at least noon. Over the two days we only saw 3 other people on the river. It was so quiet. The house and grounds surpassed my expectations - it was just perfect.

Perfect

We had an amazing stay. Never seen so much wildlife. Didn't even really need to leave the cabin to go find things to look at. The river was beautiful. Everything was as advertised. The host was very gracious. Would definitely stay here again.

Excellent Week

Property was wonderful and location on the river was perfect. Frank was incredibly responsive and had lots of great tips on things to do locally. Fishing was great as was just floating down the river! House is fairly small but worked well for us. Would definitely come back

Perfect River Escape

My family of 5 had the pleasure of staying in this home for several weeks. Communication when needed with the owners was superb. The house is absolutely charming and the pictures don’t begin to do it justice. Plenty of space for everyone and the kitchen was well stocked with everything you’d need. The views and access to the river can’t be beat. We loved watching the wildlife and enjoying the daily beauty of the Shenandoah River. The location is quiet and private while still being relatively close to the town of Front Royal. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a get away in the Front Royal area.

Perfect getaway!

Some friends and I rented the house for a weekend getaway to fish and hang out. There was a total of 9 of us and the property accommodated us easily. There are so many options for places to hang out once you are there; down by the river, on the back deck, or in the living areas if there weather is bad. And there is no shortage of beds for everyone. We did have an air mattress with us but didn't really need it because there was a futon. All in all the place was exactly what we were looking for.

What a beautiful property!

We are so happy that we spent a few days in this property. Plenty of room in the house (4 bedrooms, a roomy kitchen & eating area, 2 full bathrooms, 2 living rooms, laundry room). There is also a large deck in the back, along with tables/chairs and a gas grill. Our favorite is the area by the river. Right across from the house, with a clean and roomy deck/stairs to the river. 1 canoe & 1 kayak available to use, as well as numerous life vests and water shoes. Specific area available for a camp fire, with logs to sit on around it. We got all the river experience we wanted here! Owner Frank is very helpful and friendly, always available to answer questions. Wi-fi available in the house. We would definitely stay here again when we go back to Front Royal/Shenandoah River!

Relaxing, secluded getawar

This property provided a secluded getaway for the family within a 20 minute drive to shopping and restaurants when needed. The entire family enjoyed the river and quiet while still having all the comforts of home. The home was well maintained, clean and inviting. This would make a great getaway for a couple as well. The owner quickly responded to any questions and was very helpful. I'd recommend this to anyone looking for a truly relaxing vacation!

Beautiful and so fun for the kids!

We had an awesome weekend stay on the property! The house was clean, spacious and had everything we needed. (We could have used a couple extra bath towels, but it was a minor issue.) We had a blast with the canoe and the inner tubes on the river and loved making s'mores over the campfire. The neighborhood was rustic and quiet, and the one time we took a wrong turn in the neighborhood a very nice postal worker directed us to the correct route. We would definitely stay here again!

Great stay.

We were very pleased with our stay. The house was nice and roomy which was great since we have a big family. The property had all the comforts and supplies of home. We didn't really lack for the necessities. There were plenty of dishes, silverware, pots and pans and grilling supplies. The kids beds were good and low to the floor and the toddler bed was a plus. The adult beds were comfortable but a little too tall for our taste. The teens had no complaint about the bunk beds and did enjoy the fake fireplace downstairs. The younger children enjoyed the bedroom with the skylights and the small playroom next to it. Us older kids enjoyed the Wii and fishing. The dock was great to fish off of and our youngest son actually caught the biggest bass of his fishing career (19inches and about 2-3lbs). We didn't get to use the tubes or canoe unfortunately. We were a little scared of the current that seemed a little fast. Everything was clean and tidy. The description and pictures of the property on the website were very accurate. One thing that we did like that maybe most people might find a turn off is that there was only 1 TV in the whole house. Most places now have a tv in every room, but there was only 1 in the central room which is nice. We like to monitor what our kids watch and this was very pleasing to us. We must have asked Frank and Steph a million questions both before and during the trip and all of them were answered quickly and satisfactorily. Frank made us feel comfortable in our communications with him. The "cons" of the property were few. The showers were a bit small for me and I'm not a huge guy. There is not really any yard for the kids to play in close to the house, although the deck was big enough for the small ones to play on and there were a couple of activities there for them. There was a few ants and stinkbugs (not uncommon for Virginia as we have found the past 2 trips there). Nothing major though. There were a few stairs to climb, so be prepared for that. There could have been a little better lighting in the driveway area at night. All in all, it was a great place to stay and we would highly recommend it.

RELAXING GETAWAY

We rented this house for a weekend getaway to celebrate a 30th birthday. It was the perfect spot! Stephanie and Frank were very easy to communicate with and quick to respond to any questions. We arrived and the house was tidy and clean. The house is on a street with neighbors but the way it is nestled in the woods, it is very private. We spend a good deal of time inside because it rained the entire weekend, but we would love to go back in the summer to go tubing and use the outdoor amenities. The Wi-Fi was great, beds and linens comfortable, plenty of towels, kitchen was stocked with all the cookware your could possible need, we saw at least 6 inner tubes, washer and dryer(with detergent), and a nice Jacuzzi tub! We had breakfast at The Apple House nearby. The Apple Butter Donuts were still warm and delicious! We would be glad to book this rental again!

Girls getaway!

The property was beautiful and the house was very accommodating as there were 8 of us total and we still had plenty of room. The owner, Frank was terrific to correspond with and very timely in his responses. Our group had a terrific time and have already discussed booking another getaway using this property.

great set up

Got together with some high school buddies for a long weekend. Plenty of room for 10 guys. Nice flat area by the river for lawn games and cooking by the fire. There is a gravel road between the house and the river that has a handful of cars per hour. The kitchen is sufficient but could use a few more skillets and baking sheets. The cable tv is very basic, only a few local channels and HBO, so don't plan on watching many sports, which isn't a problem unless your stay is plagued by bad weather. Overall it is a great place for anyone that loves the outdoors and doesn't want neighbors on top of you. Also Frank the owner was great to deal with, he was quick to respond to any questions or concerns that we had.

Great house at a great value!!!

We really enjoyed the house. Had everything we needed. Home owners were very responsive and helpful with any questions. Wish the weather was a little warmer so we could have enjoyed the outside more. This house was located close to a lot of wineries we like to visit, so it was perfect for our group.

Back to Nature!

Loved staying here! So peaceful and relaxing, a perfect place to unplug and unwind. Loved sitting on the dock by the river to watch geese and ducks swim by. We plan to take a canoe ride down the river during our next stay. There are restaurants, shopping, and multiple wineries within a short drive. Highly recommend!

THE RIVER VIEW!!

My wife, kids and I have stayed here two times and we absolutely love it! Picture windows on each level with amazing views of the river! We choose to tube, kayak, swim and just hang out by the river. We have also visited a few local wineries. We have fished (I enjoy cat fishing with a couple beers off the dock after the kids crash). There is a ton of space. 4 bedrooms with multi sleeping. We are actually planning a multi family outing for this summer. There is also a full bathroom in the basement with washer and dryer. This is a real river getaway. It's so nice to get away from everything but still have all the conveniences of home.

Why they chose this property

Our family spent a lot of time researching and looking for a waterfront property in Virginia we could enjoy with our young children close to our home in Warrenton. We instantly fell in love with the land and the ideal location this property has. The privacy of the land, the amazing view, and the slow moving expansive waters of the river made it perfect for our family. The house itself needed some work, and any house can be modified, so we fixed everything that needed fixing, and kept it modest and practical instead of making it fancy. We feel completely comfortable and relaxed to be there, and we hope you agree.

What makes this property unique

WATERFRONT. 50 minutes from Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD). Private and secluded, but also close to town. All the comforts of home. Come to relax, sit on the dock or float on the water while you watch bald eagles fly by. We genuinely feel that this is a small piece of paradise and we wholeheartedly want you to enjoy it as much as we do.
