The Boat House is a beautiful home that was completely renovated a few years ago. Located on the eastern edge of Pictured Rocks, Grand Marais a small town with a lot of charm. The Boat House is not your typical vacation cottage. It is fully furnished with all the modern amenities of a high end home. The master bed room (off the loft) has a king size bed and offers views of both Lake Superior and Grand Marais Bay. On the main floor are 2 nice size bedrooms. One has a queen size bed and a slider to the deck facing the water. The other bedroom has 2 full size beds. The home has one bathroom with a large custom tiled shower. The hot water system is "on demand" so you never run out of hot water. The great room offers a dinning table with seating for 8.

We started our exploration of the Upper Peninsula Michigan from Grand Marais. The house was well situated and walkable to Lake Superior. Easy to explore the western side of Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore Park or go out to Whitefish point, Tahquamenon Falls as well as Blind Sucker State Park. The house had a very comfortable feel with a well stocked kitchen. It was very blustery so we didn’t get to use the fire pit or grill. We very much enjoyed our stay.
Grand Marais has always been one of my favorite areas to visit in the UP. It has been years since I have been there and very little has changed! The area is quiet, peaceful. The house was perfect!
Will rent again!
Beautiful views, close to Lake Superior. Was able to watch the Northern Lights from the beach. . Perfect location for day tripping to Munising, Pictured Rocks, Two Hearted River, Tahquamenon Falls, Crisp Point Lighthouse, Sable Falls and Sable Point Lighthouse . We will be back. Walked downtown Grand Marais for dinner and breakfast.
This home was a perfectly cozy spot for the 6 of us and had amazing view of the water. We loved to see the colorful leaves across the water and to hear the crashing waves from the living room. It was a perfect spot to walk into town as well as to the point of Grand Marais. WIFI connection was not great, but worked enough. Overall, would recommend!
We book an annual vacation with our adult children and their spouses every summer and I've wanted to stay in Grand Marais for years after a quick trip to Sable Falls and Dunes years ago. While somewhat isolated, the town offers great restaurants, great coffee (find Stella) and a virtual wonderland of outdoor activities. We searched for agates and Yooperlights, fished for trout, hiked the dunes, and watched nightly sunsets over Superior and moonrises over the harbor. The house is beautiful and comfortable with a private beach on the harbor that our grandson loved. Check-in was super easy and the owner was immediately available when the microwave died. She had a new one delivered within 2 days. The master bed was a bit soft for my liking, but that's a person thing. Others will love it. On demand hot water meant that 7 adults always had a hot shower when they wanted one. We can't wait to return- we're all going through withdrawal! By the way, check Fletchy's Resort across the street for mammoth cinnamon buns that melt in your mouth. Just writing this makes me miss it more.
I hadn't been to Grand Marais since I was a child and this experience made me want to return much sooner. The house was great, and the view of the bay was fantastic and so relaxing. The town was a 1-2 minute drive and we were able to do many sightseeing adventures that were all within 1-2.5 hrs away. I would highly recommend it.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Grand Marais and this property was perfect for our small group! Plenty of kitchen and bathroom supplies as well as comfortable beds and furniture. The house has plenty of space for a few more than just our group of 3 as well. The location right on the sand and water was very nice, and a short walk to Lake Superior was easy. Grand Marais was very convenient to visiting Pictured Rock National Park, Whitefish Point, Tuqhemenon Falls, Munising and Marquette. We didn't have the best weather for our trip but it didn't stop us from exploring and enjoying the UP! Definitily have to visit Miners Pasties in Munising and Jean & Kay's for pasties in Marquette. Yum!! The UP was such an amazing place to visit and we can't wait to plan a return trip someday. We would definitely stay at this property again.
Beautiful cabin, nice and spacious with great amenities. Lovely deck and sand right off the back deck. Great spot to sit with the bonfire over the bay. Right close to downtown action and a short walk to the lighthouse point for sunset and a sandy beach!
We had amazing weather for our stay at the end of August. Campfire ring was used every night but one. Super convenient to have washer/dryer. The property listed air conditioning, but there was none. It was hot and humid upon arrival and every sunny afternoon, but cooled to low-mid 70s most evenings. The owner was responsive to this, corrected the listing, and offered use of a screen door that was in storage. The patio door and windows were very difficult to open/close, likely due to weathering. We propped one with a stick. There were a LOT of flies coming in through a crack by the front screen door, but plenty of swatters to take care of them. The kitchen had everything we needed and the charcoal grill was a great amenity. Beds and furniture were comfortable. Smart TV and DVD player/movies were awesome for the one rainy day we had. There were plenty of games and puzzles, though we had brought our own. We spent a lot of time by the bay and found plenty of things to do in the area. Coffee bus was fun, GM Tavern had great pizza and fries, did some geocaching, and some hikes and kayaking at Pictured Rocks. Overall, it was a great getaway and we had some memorable experiences in the UP.
This was our second year renting and was just as enjoyable as the first year. We love the proximity to Lake Superior and the Bay. Water all around. The home is lovely and welcoming. Loved the new coffee pot and window shades this year! We hope to return again in the future.
Great guest home and location!
Members of our family would gladly stay again!
I spent from childhood through the age of 55 vacationing often in Grand Marais. (Camping in the campground for most of that time.) Therefore, that is the lens through which I (we) appreciate Grand Marais. We love the tranquility that is readily found at this property, walking the beach, or literally anywhere in Grand Marais for that matter.
The home is very "guest friendly".
I highly recommend it!

Perfect location on the water. Cabin was very clean with basic amenities we needed. Easy access for check in. The beach at the lighthouse was great for the family, and the tavern in town had great pizza.
Beautiful beach house, minutes from Pictures Rocks
We had a wonderful time at the boat house. The weather was cool but sunny, the location was perfect for our extended weekend stay. Beautiful accommodations with everything we needed. Would definitely stay here again.
