We had a really lovely time in this beautiful cottage. One of the best we have stayed in. Beautiful decor, fabulous bath (my wife loved it!) and very comfortable bed.
It was welcoming, cosy and very well equipped. It was a terraced property but we did not hear anything from our neighbours either side. We are new to self catering and if every property is as nice as this we will be converted to this type of holiday in the future. It was perfectly located for easily getting to the pier, seaside and town. We would go for an early morning swim by walking which took less then 10 minutes, have a swim and walk back for breakfast - we didn’t use our car the whole 5 nights of our stay and we were able to park outside the property. Thank you Helen 😊
Had a lovely 5 night stay. The house is perfectly nice with a mix of modern and period furnishings. The kitchen is modern and well equipped, the lounge is very cosy and the bedroom comfortable with a very handy dressing area. The garden is a real sun trap and we enjoyed the lobster shack, had dinner in it a couple of nights.
It’s located on a quiet residential street where we found easy parking. It’s a 5 min stroll through the churchyard to the high street and 10 mins to the beach.
Overall we had a great stay and would recommend it.
Helen was easy to contact and responded quickly to any questions.
I would add that it’s probably not suited for those with mobility issues. The stairs are steepish and narrow and the bathroom (which is downstairs) has a very high sided bath to negotiate in order to shower.
We had a wonderful stay here – the house is beautiful and has been thoughtfully designed. Everything is top quality – the kitchen has everything you could possibly need, the bed is super comfortable and the sitting room is cosy and perfect for relaxing. The garden is wonderful and a real bonus to have extra outside space (and the lobster shack is delightful). The location is great - it’s a 5 minute walk to the high street and the beach. Helen is the most generous and gracious host – I can’t recommend highly enough. We’ll be back!
The property is in a good location to the town and the beach with everything in working distance. It is a terrace house with a steep staircase, so good to be reasonably mobile. The 'lobster shack' provides good additional space outside to compliment the lounge indoors, and I used to work out of a little too.
We had a lovely Christmas here. It was nice and cosy, complete with a tree! The kitchen was really well equipped and we wanted for nothing. Just one small maintenance issue - due to so much rain recently, the gutter over the back door was overflowing, causing the back door to swell and stick.
We love Southwold and would definitely consider renting this house again in the future.
Lovely and relaxing place to explore Southwold and area
This is a lovely place to stay. We spent a week here, and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. It is very clean and well appointed, and the kitchen is very well equipped. It's in a great location, close to High Street but very quiet. In particular, the beds are extremely comfortable, which is not always the case in a vacation home! Thank you to Helen who was extremely helpful and accommodated our requests.
This property is really for people under 50 years old.
In the bathroom there was nowhere for us to leave our stuff. The bathroom cabinet was full of the owners stuff so we had to put our toiletries bags in the kitchen. The water was very slow to come out of the bath and neither the bath or the shower drained very well. It definatley needs a plumber in there!
The house was not comfortable and it was obvious an interior designer had a hand in it. Those people never have comfort in mind.
We loved Southwold but would stay elsewhere next time.

Lovely little well-equipped cottage in Southwold
We enjoyed our holiday in Southwold and our stay at this lovely cottage, with lovely decor. Holidaying in somebody's home, meant that it was far better equipped. Very modern kitchen, so much so that we had to read how to work the micro-wave! There are two double bedrooms, but only one has a wardrobe. However, there is a small hanging area in the second bedroom, which also has a dressing room en suite. Having the dining room at the end of the garden was quirky but most enjoyable inside. Thankfully, the weather was kind to us so no getting wet on our way to eat there.
For us, just one negative was having the bathroom/toilet at the back of the house on the ground floor. My husband, due to health issues, needs to use the bathroom during the night and found it a bit of a trek! I should have checked this out before booking but other than that we were very pleased with our stay.

A beautiful little house in an amazing location
Thanks to Helen and Paul for letting us stay in their lovely little house in Southwold. They made us feel very welcome. It was the perfect location for our first family holiday, so close to the town centre and the beach. The house is beautifully decorated with lovely features, we can’t recommend it highly enough.

Why they chose this property
Paul and I fell in love with this house as soon as we walked through the door back in April 2016. Since buying it we have lovingly renovated it and enjoy it as our second home whenever we can. The fixtures and fittings are all of high quality as we wanted to avoid the 'holiday let' feel. I'm an Interior designer and have loved bringing this house back to life. I hope that if you choose to stay here, you enjoy it half as much as we do.
What makes this property unique
Close to the Sea and town. Cute 'Eating hut'. Plenty of street parking. Quiet and peaceful.
