Cummins Falls State Park is an idyllic, but rugged, 211-acre day-use park located nine miles north of Cookeville on the Blackburn Fork State Scenic River on the Eastern Highland Rim. Located in the Cordell Hull Watershed, the area has been a scenic spot and swimming hole for local residents of Jackson and Putnam counties for more than 100 years. Cummins Falls is Tennessee’s eighth largest waterfall in volume of water and is 75 feet high.
The Gorge
The gorge area of the park is a natural feature unaltered by man, as is most of the park. While very beautiful, this is a rugged area and there are inherent hazards.
The gorge and waterfall are not easily accessed and can only be reached by foot.
There are two routes that descend into the gorge.
One is approximately one mile and the other is approximately 1.5 miles.
Both routes are steep with uneven terrain and have significant elevation drops.
Natural trail surfaces are varied and include water crossings, boulders and other obstacles.

Next door is Creekside Farmhouse which also can be rented. https://www.vrbo.com/855732?

Pleasant getaway

I think I would stay here again. The murmuring of the creek was pleasant. The central air heats the cabin efficiently. We brought Thanksgiving to our son attending a local school. We didn't roast a turkey, but we found the kitchen conducive for our cooking. One complaint was that there was no spare toilet paper or paper towels or garbage bags, so we had to buy our own. I was also hoping for a DVD player, but that was no big problem.

Creekside

Very clean but as others say some updates would be good. Little things like mattress pads on the beds. Some new pillows. The recliner couch needs work on the right as it suddenly reclines when not expected. A few newer towels. All white so they can be bleached would be good. And a bigger coffee pot. Microwave was not working but not a big deal. More garbage cans outside too would be good as the can was full when we arrived and more full when we left. Overall the place was comfortable and clean. Thanks for allowing dogs too. Yes I’d recommend for larger group and people who need a place with pups

Great stay with my family

We had a wonderful stay at the cottage. My grandkids loved playing in the creek. The cottage could use some upgrading but we would stay again regardless.

I loved it

We definitely enjoyed our stay for our 9th yr anniversary peace and quiet close to stores and restaurants. Th cabin was cleaned a little of an older setting but o felt right at home and the creek running behind it made it that much more peaceful waking up to a beach doesn't compare to waking up to the sound of the creek if u love nature this is definitely a good option!

Cookeville cabin

When I arrived at the cabin I did not have the code to get in. After an hour of trying to get ahold of the property owner I finally got in. I sat in one the dining room chairs, and it crashed to the floor with me in it. After an inspection of the chair, you could see it was already broken and repaired. I checked the other dining room chairs and found the same issue with all of them.

loved the house on the creek! great staff to work with!

We visit Cookeville often with 2 children attending Tn Tech, we have now found our go to spot after just staying at the house on the creek, it was clean and neat and had Tennessee charm. I would highly recommend it and the folks that manage it were fantastic to work with. We have already reserved our next stay.

The place was very clean, spacious & quiet. We enjoyed our stay. The manager was helpful. It was close enough to town to be convenient but out far enough for privacy.

Nice Rustic Cabin Away From It All and Still Close to Town

Cozy old cabin decorated with an eclectic collection of odds and ends. The cabin is clean with plenty of room. It is furnished with old but functional furniture. The kitchen is stocked with dishes, utensils and cookware. The bathroom is stocked with plenty of towels. There is a TV with satellite service. There is WIFI service. Window air conditioners did a fine job keeping the cabin cool. The front porch is nice for sitting after you've opened up the windows to let it air out for a while. The cabin is situated right by the road but the yard is fenced in and the driveway is gated. The traffic is minimum. The management was quick to respond and helpful when I called. I would definitely consider staying here again if I'm in the area.

Nice Place for the Price

Value for money is very good for this house and the amount of people it can sleep. It has 1 master bed, 3 downstair beds, and a pullout couch. House is older but seems to be decently well maintained. Property owner and manager are also very helpful

Nice home. Great location

We stayed here for 2 weeks while house hunting. The house is an older home but was comfortable. As there was only 2 of us, we did not use the downstairs except for laundry. The king size bed in the master bedroom was very comfortable. The house is close to town, shopping, and parks. Every morning we walked in the beautiful Cane Creek Park which was nearby. The creek behind the house was quite peaceful and we sat out there in the afternoon. Overall, the house was clean, but we did notice several small dead bugs on the windowsill. The furniture is also a bit dated and worn.

WHAT A VINTAGE FIND ! WE CAN'T WAIT TO BRING THE GRANDKIDS NEXT TIME!

While running the back roads of Tennessee , we stumbled across the charming city of Cookeville,Tn . We always look for local cottages or B&B's rather than hotels and was able to stay at the Creek Side Cottage. We loved it, the cottage was just as the photos on VRBO and we opened the window to hear the creek. The cottage is decorated with antiques and vintage tools and wildlife photos. The cottage is close to Cummings Falls and we can't wait to bring our grandkids back to enjoy the cottage and beautiful Falls. The owner was very helpful and owns the adjoining property for large groups and weddings. We were blessed as the cottage was only available due to a last minute cancellation. Be sure and see this beautiful state and stay at the cottage. Marvin and Nancy Thompson- owners of The Funky Antique Shack

Quaint older home.

This quaint older home was very clean. The master bedroom upstairs had a very comfortable King bed. The antiques the home was furnished with provided a very nice reflection on the home. We really liked all the custom built cupboards and shelves. The downstairs was clean, but a few finishing touches down there to make it complement the upstairs would help with rental possibilities. The beds downstairs were comfortable but their placement could be improved, also an additional TV downstairs would be great. The enclosed front porch was really nice. The shower had great water pressure and lots of Hot water. The kitchen was well furnished and the layout was really functional. We did not fix any meals due to meetings all day, but used the fridge to keep our drinks cold. Very pretty dining room. Window air conditioners were kind of noisy, but easily kept the home at a comfortable temperature. Overall we enjoyed our stay and would consider another stay if in the area.

Run away!!!! Awful odor!!!

The bedroom from the picture was locked and we did not have access to it. The only badroom available was in the basement. However there was very strong odor of mold and rotten wood. Whole hause is in very bad shape, full of ded bugs and live spiders. I would not recommend it to anyone. I've spend there one sleepless night because it was late and I did not really had place to go. I was out next day morning, now I fight for refund. What a scam!!! I have some pictures if you are interested.

Good location

Overall we (2 couples in our 60's) enjoyed the stay at this home. The location was great for access to Cookeville (nice city) and to I-40 for visiting some state parks and places of interest in mid-Tennessee. We especially enjoyed the Museum of Appalachia north of Knoxville. As advertised, the 2 men found a place to fish and we enjoyed the state park scenery. As far as the house was concerned, we had mixed feelings. The upstairs area was comfortable. However, some of the light switches and the fans did not work. The kitchen had some small appliances which was nice, but lacked basic kitchen cooking utensils (serving spoons, kitchen knives, etc.). The stairs were steep and the downstairs area, although large, contained only 2 twin beds and a full size bed, a small side table, and one lamp. Having access to a washer and dryer downstairs was a plus as was the large attached outdoor porch and chairs. The front porch was nicely done. With the entry gate closed, our 2 small dogs enjoyed being able to run in the large outdoor freshly mowed space. Not having access to internet or a phone number, contact with the owner was not possible during the trip.
