The magic of Le Paloumé: The beauty & tranquillity of Le Paloumé makes it a very special place. After the sunset of their 1st. evening guests have visibly relaxed; worlds away from stress & cares.
On entering their cottage they see at once that their comfort & convenience has been fully thought out. The table is laid & their meal (if ordered) is ready to eat.
In the morning a basket of fresh croissants & bread, if ordered, awaits them on their terrace – a perfect start to the first day of their holiday.
There is masses to do in the area but if all you want to do is relax in the garden, by the pool (or log fire in winter) you can choose from our varied library for adults and children in English, French and German.

About the host
Hosted by Jane Woolfe

We a British family of 4, moved here in February 1992 and have lived here, year round, ever since. Jane loves gardening, cooking, reading and the Archers.
Felix loves animals, dancing and computers/technology.
Oskar, 13 when we arrived, now a builder, very useful here, loves Formula 1 and lives in the spar village of Amelie les Bains just down the valley.
George, 10 when we arrived, is a talented chef, is taking over the management and bookings. Lives in the medieval town of Arles sur Tech.
We have come to love it here and all appreciate the real community spirit of the village and its' traditions.
We are keen members of the village walking club for many years. We spent our early years here learning the Sardane, the Catalan dance of celebration and go regularly to local

Why they chose this property
We had settled on Le Roussillon as the ideal place to live. Beautiful, unspoilt mountains, the Mediterranean and lovely climate. Peaceful yet with a vibrant traditional culture. After 3 years of looking we found Le Paloumé in the southernmost valley in France, next to the Spanish ( Catalan) boarder.
Perfect for our new 'Good life' of trying to be self-sufficient away from the pressures of the city, and a healthy life for us and our sons.

What makes this property unique
The spirit is uplifted every morning on leave the house and seeing the Pyrénéan Mountains spread before you in the distance, the views cannot be described, you need to see for yourself. Facing south we get the sun all day long. The clean air, the fresh spring water, peace and quiet are a joy. This is why Le Paloumé has been a habitation for more than a thousand years and we are only the latest people to enjoy its charms. Traditionally built from stone, the thick walls keep the cottage naturally cool during the heat of the summer and warm in the winter.
