Nice cottage but nothing to shout about

A nice cottage, modern interior, comfortable beds however, lacked personal touches and could have been cleaner. South Creake is a pretty village with a nice pub within minutes however, there isn’t much else. House doesn’t have direct access to garden as such but it’s very nice nonetheless with a creake at the end.

First visit to Norfolk

Lovely cottage well situated for visiting the coast and all the small towns and villages. Excellent food in the Ostrich in the village perhaps a little pricey but the Sunday roast was huge and beautifully cooked to perfection. Jolly farmer is also worth a visit but only open on some nights and food served between 6and 8pm. Some nice touches in the cottage and on the whole well equipped apart from No Microwave and no Teapot which i would have thought quite basic items! However we really enjoyed the area and our stay

A week' stay in October

This is a lovely property briefly comprising a large dining kitchen,, central staircase and a living room. Upstairs are 2 double bedrooms and a large bathroom. Well decorated and modern fittings throughout. Excellent WiFi connection. Small garden that requires a 20yd walk along soft gravel (would be hard for a wheelchair/pushchair). This is also the location of the wheelie bins. Stream running at back of garden and a table and chairs at which to sit in hot weather (not October!) The street access is tight, cars need to be parked up against the building or alternatively at the end of the street on the village green area, but overall not too difficult to manage. Location is not too far from the coast, and Fakenham is the nearest town for supermarkets etc A good place to stay for a couple.

Not value for money

Whilst the cottage was clean & comfortable it was let down by; a) When we arrived three landing lights not working also the TV not working. b) paying nearly £1000 per week would expect the kitchen to be equipped with a microowave oven, surely an essential when on holiday. c) some frying pans and baking trays need replacing, also no instruction leaflets for kitchen appliances. d) no Visitors book e) Were never able to park outside making loading & unloading difficult in such a narrow road. On the poisitive side beds were very comfortable

A comfy place to stay

The cottage was smaller than the photos indicated. I think for 4 people and 2 dogs it would have been very snug. Having the garden down the walk way was not great when you have a dog. This needs to be indicated earlier on the description as it states enclosed garden but not separate from house. The cottage was very comfortable though for 2 people and 1 dog. Thank you.

A last minute week away

We booked on the spur of the moment after having to postpone two weeks in the Dordogne for the second year. Sherbet Cottage is well equipped and very comfortable. It was chilly when we arrived but the heating was on and it was very cosy. Parking is somewhat tight but we always easily managed to find a space. It was galling to have to pay £200 more for one week here than for two weeks in a larger house with swimming pool in the Dordogne, but that’s the going rate.

Staycation

We absolutely loved the decor of the cottage and the location, which was perfect for us. There was an odd smell and the cottage had been surfaced cleaned, there was a build up of dust behind the sofa with items left from previous guests, this was only noticed as the light was situated behind the sofa. The oven was dirty and the utensils had seen better days. There was a video player, but we couldn't use this as the cable had been removed and there was dirty washing left in a wash bin. I think had the property description not have read recently renovated my expectations would have been lower. I did not complain at the time of our stay and these comments did not spoil our stay, we loved Norfolk and all it had to offer. I would recommend this cottage, but I think the cleanliness needs to be improved and the description to be more reflective about the cottage condition.

A cottage with problems

We had issues with cleanliness which the agency dealt well with. The cottage needs money spending on it and some serious attention from the owner. It is getting rundown, it was dirty under the surface. Many things need attention and replacing, the cooker is old, the bedding is well used, the kitchen surfaces are in poor repair. The window sills are filled with clutter which has to be moved to open the shutters to allow the windows to be opened. There is no microwave despite the cottage description claiming to supply one. In its current state this cottage is not worth the price charged. It could be lovely with some time and attention given to it.

Home from Home

A lovely comfortable cottage in a nice village . The cottage is well equipped to provide that home from home feeling and is decorated and furnished to a high standard . The village is quiet and well located for touring the area . The village pub / restaurant was opening just after we left but looked very nice . The only slight downside is that parking is tight in a narrow lane - we could always find parking but never directly outside the cottage . Overall we would highly recommend this cottage .

As Sweet as Sherbert !!

We stayed here for 7 nights, and were really pleased with the cottage. It was very clean, comfortable and very stylish, although we didn’t use it much the rear garden with the stream would be a perfect place to relax at the end of the day. There is no allocated parking, but it wasn’t a problem as you can tuck the car in tight right outside the cottage. Good location for North Norfolk coast, but a shame the only pub in the village has now closed. Very well equipped kitchen, and both bedrooms were lovely, we were hard pushed to decide which was the master bedroom as they were both good sized. I would return to Sherbert Cottage, as we were very pleased with our choice.

Review of Sherbet Cottage Easter 2018

A lovely cottage, very well appointed and equipped. Unable to park outside for part of time because occupants of cottage to the rear were parked there. Would probably have tried to book a return visit but understand it is being sold in the summer.

AN EXCELLENT COTTAGE LET DOWN WITH THE LACK OF FACILITIES IN THE VILLAGE

A DISTINCT LACK OF FOOTPATHS ON THE STREET OR IN THE LOCAL VICINITY APART FROM THE VILLAGE GREEN, WITH FEW PLACES TO TAKE A LONGER WALK WITH A DOG. NEAREST SHOP ABOUT 2OR 3 MILES AWAY, BUT NOT A TOTAL LOSS ALTOGETHER. nEXT TIME I USE YOUR FIRM I NEED TO READ THE COTTAGE SUMMARIES MORE THOROUGHLY....AS WE WERE 8 MILES FROM THE NEAREST BEACH. hOWEVER, THE COTTAGE MADE UP IN COMFORT AND PERSONAL TOUCHES

September weekend break

Lovely cottage, very tastefully furnished and decorated, with everything we could need for our weekend stay. Parking was not great but that did not detract from a most enjoyable weekend. Ideally situated to reach the coast, Burnham Market etc. Would stay again

Everything you could ask for.

We had the most wonderful holiday here. The cottage is perfect and the little garden with the stream is beautiful. The owners have not missed a thing and no expense has been spared. They clearly have impeccable taste, but it doesn't feel like a 'show home' or a magazine shoot - it feels like a home. Something that is very hard to do, but has been done very successfully here. We know the area very well, excellent pubs, walks and places to visit. Highly recommended.

Delightful cottage with lovely touches and great location. Would wholeheartedly recommend!

Arrived at Sherbet Cottage as refugees from another cottage where the shower had failed. Norfolk Hideaways did their utmost to find alternative accommodation and directed us to Sherbet Cottage. We are so glad they did. It is a delightful cottage, well appointed, clean and welcoming. The Hideaway Garden is perfect for an evening glass of wine watching the ducks and ducklings paddle past. Very well located in South Creake, the location of the cottage makes it easy to access most of North Norfolk. The owners of the cottage have lots of recommendations to make this a perfect stay.

Sherbet Cottage - delightfully high standards almost all round

The furnishings, quality of design and decor were all excellent. And while I would give it a 95% satisfied rating there are a couple of points I'd like to make. First, I'm not obese by any means but "plumpish". The shower cubicle with its fabulous tiles is a bit tight. I've never been a fan of "rainshowers" either. They dribble everywhere and nowhere. Shower heads can actually be aimed at your toes or your nose - or any other protruberance you wish. So five out of ten for the shower. Not very easy to work out what's happening with the central heating either. Being mid winter it took a couple of days of constant heating to take the chill out of a stone-built cottage. It's the same in our stonebuilt home. So a problem I was prepared to keep battling at. It was only in the last couple of days that I managed to locate the upper vent control on the logburner. My fault probably. I had expected something half way up the flue. Maybe a discreet dab of white paint on the hard-to-spot knob would help. These three issues all impinged on our early January stay. In the summer we would have had almost no gripes. Thanks to our civilised and cool hosts. Tim + Liz
