Location was a great base to exploring the area

The cottage was as shown on the listing. Bright, airy and comfortable we would rent it again. The location was wonderful for exploring the beaches, conservation areas and delightful surrounding small villages. There were a few maintenance issues which were quickly rectified when we contacted Norfolk Hideaways, the rental company. On arrival, the lawn was in need of cutting, there was no hand soap in any of the bathrooms, tiny drop of dish detergent and all the clothespins were broken. Living room sofas need to be replaced or cleaned. Would I rent it again? absolutely!

A great last minute family break.

This was a lovely little cottage that was in very nice condition and great for a stay of a family of 4. Conveniently situated with a lovely deli and playground over the road and very near beach at brancaster and other amenities. All in all a great stay!

My stay

The property was very clean and comfortable. It was very well equipped and close to the village shop. We will probably try to stay there again at some time.

Fourth visit!

It's apparent that we like this cottage- four annual visits. It's very well equipped, well maintained, and in a great position. Very easy to get to all the worthwhile places along the N.Norfolk coast, from Kings Lynn to Overstrand, and all inland places, such as Sandringham, Holt, and Burnham Market. This means a huge choice of eateries, and lots of Delis and farm Shops of high quality. We ere only two, but with two bathrooms (one ensuite)), four good friends would be OK! Unlike many places we have stayed, there are plenty of plates and cups and cutlery. The broadband has improved a lot, and is now fine for all but the most avid gamer! The garden is delightful for sitting in all day, if the sun is shining, and the grass is cut regularly. We think the cleaning contract may have changed in the last year, the place was quite clean, but not as pristine as previous years- still well above 'average' In spite of me writing last year about rubbish collection/recycling, the information in the folder onsite is way out of date, and needs sorting. Our neighbours must have the same information, as they were putting their waste into some other properties bins, rather than the one prominent privately collected bin outside the house.

A nice property - recomended

We were upgraded to this property by Norfolk Hideaways following a problem with our initial booking in Wells. The staff at Norfolk Hideaways were great! Driftwood Cottage is a modern semi-detached house. The owner has put a lot of thought into making this an attractive and very comfortable rental property. The decoration is very tasteful and the kitchen is very well equipped. My family and I enjoyed staying here for four nights and felt that this was a little home from home and a good base for exploring the North Norfolk coastline and the inland villages. Slightly let down by maintenance issues (some lights not working, some upstairs doors not closing properly and one of the showers far too hot. Otherwise very good.

September in Brancaster - Driftwood Cottage

Very nice cottage in excellent location. Modern, functional, comfortable, well equipped. For the most part clean but we did need to clean the microwave before use. Broadband didn’t work but was sorted promptly by Norfolk Hideaways with a temporary fix which was intermittent and rather slow. At the end of the week it was still not working. Over the last 20 years we have stayed in many North Norfolk cottages. This was the most expensive and the first time there was no welcome pack provided - a small point but not so much as a pint of milk or a packet of biscuits. We declined the offer to buy a welcome hamper!

Pleasant stay in Brancaster

The location of Driftwood Cottage was excellent for our stay with our 7 year old granddaughter. On arrival we were horrified to find the down stairs area infested with flies.I visited local shops to try to purchase fly spray, though I visted the local supermarkets and back to Hunstanton shops all had sold out! I contacted Norfolk Hideaways first thing Saturday morning and they told me they had a stock of fly spray purchased online. I was surprised to find I had to pay them for this spray, but it soon had the desired affect and we was able to control the problem for the rest of the week. Another issue was the poor standard of cleaning.2 of the toilets were soiled and squashed dead flies on the floor. Future guests should be aware the bedrooms are very small, only space to walk sideways around the beds. Downstairs in contrast was very spacious and well presented. Despite our problems we would recommend Driftwood cottage to others as long as they were aware of the very small bedrooms.

Driftwood Cottage

Condition of Cottage was excellent as almost new all appliance very clean, plenty of crockery, plenty cutlery, little short on wine glasses (only 2) plenty of seating & very comfortable. Lovely garden furniture & nice sunny garden when the sun shone. Guest bathroom shower could have been cleaner ! Proximity of caravan site & social club could be & issue (during school holiday periods) we like tranquility but this however did not present & issue for us. We have used several local Cottage companies Blakeney Cottage, Barefoot Retreats & Sowerbys to be honest they leave a welcome package which is complimentary their fees/prices are just as competitive & feel this would work in your favour too.

A second stay, high quality maintained!

Just the two of us in this cottage for 4, so plenty of room! The dry and warmish weather meant this time we were able to sit in the garden much more- it is in the sun form 8 until about 6, so some days we managed all three meals outside. (Helped by takeaway F & C from Eric's at Thornham and pizza from the Jolly Sailors at Brancaster. A very central location for N.Norfolk, some greart beaches and Estates within 20 mins, such as Sandringham, Holkham, Wells & Hunstanton. Plenty of food shops, and pubs etc. We love the area, and come each year. We hope to come again to this cottage. The broadband was a bit erratic-the fault of the supplier, not the cottage, I suspect, but tha's about the only tiny moan, and one should be able to cope without on holiday anyway! Overall really well equipped and unreservedly recommended.

Long winter weekend

We stayed at Driftwood Cottage for a long weekend in February. The Cottage is well appointed and well placed to walk to Brancaster beach and the The Ship hotel, with driveway parking a huge bonus as you can pull up outside the property on arrival. We loved the open plan layout downstairs making it a sociable space whilst you cook etc. Be aware however that both bedrooms are very cosy with little room to do more than side step round the end of the bed, which may not suit the less mobile or children. The petrol station in nearby Burnham Deepdale provided a decent sized store to pick up essentials.

99% excellent stay

As my high marks show Driftwood Cottage was an excellent property. But no coffee making facility. I bought a cafetiere. There were filter papers in the house but no way of using them. This is of course not the end of the world ! Nothing Norfolk Hideaways can do but the exceptionally hard water leaves the washing up and draining board coated in limestone powder ! When we had a central heating problem staff were as fast as humanly possible to sort it out. Thanks Cathy !

Brand new newbuild cottage in an ideal location.

We were blessed with exceptional weather for mid October, but even apart from that Driftwood Cottage was ideally located on the main road in Brancaster to walk to the local superb beach, 2 minutes from The Jolly Sailor with excellent food, the post office in the 71 Club opposite, Nisa store at Burnham Deepdale less than 10 minutes drive for essentials, and short drives in either direction to north Norfolk coast local beauty spots on the A149. Driftwood Cottage was spotless, modern, warm and comfortably furnished - nothing not to like!

Summer Early Break

We have stayed at this cottage previously but this time found it not as good, which was disappointing, as its a lovely modern house with ample amenities and a lot of thought has gone into making it so. Its in a great position, although by the main road you do not get noise invasion and if you have children there is an excellent playground over the road in the 71 club playing field. The back garden and patio are lovely, with the patio doors folding right back to open the house to the garden but let down by the over grown lawn which was almost knee high. Some minor issues with shower fan not working in family bathroom and the self closing toilet seat in the en-suite bathroom, also some housekeeping hiccups which need ironing out.

Lovely house and great location

Lovely house with perfect location for a 4 year old. In seaside village of Brancaster, opposite a playing field with swings and slides and garden was secure. House as good as looks in photos. On main road but set back and couldn't hear traffic. Son loved running up and down open plan ground floor and playing in garden. Toilet downstairs very useful. 2 shower rooms upstairs. House was spacious and perfect size for families of 3-4. Tv had catch up. Very warm inside and first holiday house not had to turn the heating on when a chilly summer day. Good pub in village and more restaurants, farm shops and pubs in neighbouring villages. Only criticisms were - would have been useful for one of the shower rooms to have a bath. Wasn't sure if heating on, and if so would have liked to turn off at night. Would also have liked a 2nd front door key.

Great stay in a lovely cottage in ideal location.

Our stay at Driftwood Cottage was fantastic. The cottage was well equipped and had everything and more for our stay. The garden was perfect to relax in after a day out. It is beautifully decorated and very comfortable. It is in a perfect loaction, less than a mile to brancaster beach. Brancaster beach is perfect, easily accessible and great for families as only a very short walk from the car park. We will definitely stay again and recommend it.

First class cottage in an excellent position for exploring th North Norfolk coast.

My wife & I stayed for a week in early May, and found the cottage to be very comfortable, warm, and well equipped. The kitchen, especially, had almost everything you could wish for! We used the twin room, as a double- the bed is bigger, and it is away from the road. As with the rest of the house, the bathrooms were immaculate. There was plenty of really comfortable seating in a couple of areas, so you could watch the large TV or migrate a little to read a book away from the electronics! Outside was a small garden & patio, very neatly maintained, and good quality rattan garden furniture, the chairs cunningly fitting under the outside dining table to keep clean & dry. This patio is a sun-trap for most of the day, and even although our week was really quite cold & windy, we did manage to enjoy a few hours of outside sitting and eating. There are really no negative features, it is lovely for two, and good for four if you get on well! There was a striking lack of technical information/instructions, probably because of the newness of the let, and we expect that this will be remedied before long. We would highly recommend this property, and we hope to return in the future, as it is so very well positioned.
