About this property

La Casa Assolellada, Detached Villa in quiet location with private pool

OVERVIEW
2018 was the the first year that we rented our house. We received a number of favourable comments
Post Covid in 2022 and 2023 we rented via a property manager and the favourable reviews were on their website. Following their local representative's retirement we now have taken back control of bookings.

We were pleased with the feedback we received from guests. Please be assured that our home is as exactly as the photos show. It is a well furnished and comfortable house in peaceful and beautiful surroundings. The house is located in green hills, in a quiet cul de sac containing just 4 large detached houses. It is less than ten minutes drive from the nearest town of CÉRET. All you will hear is bird song.
It is completely secluded and peaceful with plenty of parking behind a lockable-gated entrance. Close to a bubbling stream it is still suitable for small children as the garden is fully fenced. It is also some distance from any main roads. There is little night sky pollution and the stars are amazing.
With two bedrooms and bathrooms downstairs all on one level it is suitable for wheelchair guests with only one step into the house.
The fenced pool is very private and spacious. There is plenty of lounging area around the pool with sun bed loungers, mattresses and parasols for eight provided, as well as beach towels.
There are several outside seating areas as well as outdoor dining with a covered terrace and electric fan. A Weber barbecue and complimentary briquettes will be provided.
The house faces south and for that reason all of the terraces have electric sun blinds giving plenty of shade if required, they also keep the house deliciously cool.

There is a fully fitted kitchen leading onto an exceptionally large living area with two connecting sitting rooms and TV, you can watch full satellite British and French TV along with netflix etc. There are two ground floor bedrooms, one with a shower and toilet ensuite and the other with a full bathroom and separate toilet opposite.

On the first floor is the master bedroom with a Superking bed and satellite TV. There is a door to a dressing room/ study with sofa bed and/or child bed. This also has a separate entrance. Adjacent to this is a shower room and toilet. All bedrooms have high-end quality mattresses, and fittings and pictures. The House is air-conditioned in all principal rooms and bedrooms.
The house has recently installed free fibre Internet connections now working at speeds of average 600 Mbps

The garage contains a tumble dryer and freezer for guest use.
Children are welcome

Fantastic House, wonderful location

We had a superb 2 weeks here in August 2024. The house is perfect for a relaxing break. The area is very quiet in the hills close to the Spanish Border, we were able to go for a day trip to the bay of Roses. The house has everything you will need, a fully equipped kitchen, dishwasher, washing machine. Nice quiet air conditioning in every bedroom and in the downstairs open plan kitchen dining lounge. The bedrooms are very nice particularly the master bedroom upstairs which has the most comfortable mattress I have ever slept on. The pool is large enough to swim lengths in with lots of sun loungers and umbrellas for relaxing. The owners are great at communication so you can ask them any questions you need before you go and the house manager is very welcoming and helpful when you need her. I would highly recommend staying here, we have come back relaxed and renewed.

Fantastic Rural Location but very close to town and supermarkets.

We are a family of 6 two adults and four children. I booked it three days before arriving and delt with Paul via messages he was very helpful and came across very friendly. We had a fantastic time at this wonderful home. It is in a wonderful location felt like we were in the middle of no where but at the same time felt so central. When we arrived the neighbour came out to see what was going on and said hello introduced himself and this made us feel good knowing the neighbours look out for one an other always comes with its own feeling of security. We got to Meet with remy who welcomed us to the property on behalf of Paul and Suzanne. He was very nice and helpful he recommended some beautiful restaurants for us to visit as a family. It was our first time staying in a villa with a pool and although it was very safe and guarded with a fence. we asked remy to give a little warning to the children we really appreciated this you can never be too careful. overall our stay was fantastic. WE WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS PROPERTY.

Fabulous villa, home from home, beautiful tranquil surroundings!

We have recently returned from our two week stay ,at villa la assolellada, as a family of six. The villa was spacious ,clean and lacked for nothing ! Outside the gardens were beautiful with views to the mountains and well tended , even had fresh mint for mojotos and an abundance of tomatoes. The pool was a good size ,had comfy loungers and maintained by attendant twice during our two week stay with minimal disruption. The area around the villa is lovely and quiet and away from the hustle and bustle, but is also near enough by car to the coast ( argeles sur mer 45 minutes) we visited many lovely places both in France and Spain ,as so close to the border . Girona is a must ,fantastic city ,as is a drive through the Pyrenees ,collioure and carcasonne . Overall we had a lovely relaxing holiday and would recommend to others .

About the host

Host profile image
My wife and I retired in 2008 and rented for a year in the area to find the perfect location. It is our second family home and we spent up to 5 months each year here, winter and summer

Why they chose this property

The house is in the Vert Vallon, a very quiet and beautiful valley looking south towards the mountains separating France from Spain. We have a half acre garden and our cul de sac has only four detached houses in it. We have a very private pool area facing south where we relax rather a lot.

Yet Céret, a lively catalonian french town with a long history is only 4 km away with all you need. It is much loved by artists and world famous painters such as Picasso and Braques have lived here. There is a renown museum of modern art, a lively market, and many festivals. There are many places to eat nearby.

What makes this property unique

Everything that one would want on holiday is within easy reach. lying by our pool, plentiful and safe beaches for children and adults, including naturist, sports, shopping, historic castles, Spain, or doing nothing. There are plenty of places in France that are rural or in lively towns, but here you have a choice of both within easy reach of each other. You do not have to drive 30 mins to go shopping or fill the car up with fuel or fight to find somewhere to park your car outside your house.
The house is in a supremely quiet area.
