What a view! We absolutely loved our stay, the cottage had everything we needed and felt we could just relax as soon as we got in. We ventured out all over Cornwall from the cottage and nothing was ever much more than an hour away. Everyone in the other cottages were also lovely and was nice to sit outside and eat our meals and take in that view (did I mention that?). As you can tell we liked it... :)
On arrival we were very disappointed by the overwhelming smell of oil, from the tanks for the heating, and the tired appearance of the property. The second bedroom had a smelly duvet cover left on it and a silver fish ran across the bed. Luckily we had taken extra bedding so could use that till a replacement was delivered the next day. I emailed the owner about the bedding, lack of baking trays in kitchen, said we weren't happy about the general appearance of the property and felt a mention should be made about the oil tanks. The response was only bedding and pizza trays would be delivered the next day. The sofa's need new padding putting in the seat cushions as they are very uncomfortable. The lounge carpet has a hole in it. The kitchen has a lot of stuff in it that is not needed but only had pint or wine glasses no tumblers. Cereal was eaten with soup spoons as only a couple of desert spoons. The washing machine only has a 2.5kg load. The decor resembles Grannies house. Peculiar selection of tiny pictures on large walls and a very sticky dining table top.The only saving grace was the peaceful location, comfortable bed and amazing view. First time I've looked forward to going home.
Idyllic setting. Unfortunately the cottage wasn't clean on our arrival. I don't know whether it's been forgotten or done in a real hurry. It hadn't been hoovered, dusted and the bottom bed sheet looked like it had been slept on. We did message the cleaning agency who did come to th. e next day to clean. The beds were comfortable. A pint of milk in the fridge would have so welcome after a very long drive to get there.. it's quite unusual not to get a little welcome pack.
Property was close to all amenities - restaurants, shops - short walk to beach - with the most spectacular views! It felt like coming home! I love the area as grew up down here. Only the one problem was the weather but then this is England!
Absolutely lovely location of cottage on the golf course, plenty of places to visit not too far away and areas to walk.
Good information given regarding basics of renting of property.
Missed the entrance to the cottage as the sign pointed down the road to the village. Our friends and other people in the cottages did the same thing.
Cottage windows could do with a clean, but mainly we were happy with the cleanliness. Maybe a new bed in the double bedroom as we could see the springs but was comfortable.
The view was amazing right at the back of the property. You can watch the golfers too. The closest beach is down a steep hill but my 2 little ones were okay with it. Great location for surrounding areas. Spot on.
Exactly as the pictures show, two spacious bedrooms and bathrooms. Views are incredible and if the weather had allowed, we would have made use of the table outside. Comfy sofas and we slept well. Only negative is the smell of the boiler and oil fumes that could fill the cottage. A better seal around the boiler room door is needed and a door catch that closes, could be overpowering. As it was a bit chilly, we needed the heating. That said, it was a lovely break and we would recommend it.
The property’s location is just breathtaking. We had a lovely time, the kids loved the beaches which are very close and excellent. It was so easy to reach and talk to the Management Team and also were very helpful. We will be definitely back again.
This was the perfect base for our 3 generation holiday. Plenty of outside space and a short walk down to the beach for our 2 year old grandson. A friendly sailing club by the beach and Heligan and Eden nearby which we all enjoyed. Meals on the patio soaking in the stunning sea views. All the conveniences we needed the n the property.

About the host

There are 6 cottages at this location each unit is slightly different. The units can be rented singularly or together thereby allowing families to be on holiday together but having some privacy within each They sit next door to each other in a small terrace of six properties overlooking the sea on Porthpean Golf course but all share the same great view of St Austell Bay. This unit is FAIRWAYS EDGE and is a two storey mid terrace cottage. We take bookings separately for each cottage or they can be booked together thereby accommodation a larger group between the three properties. Great for whole families Mum, Dad, grandparents & kids who want to be together but have some privacy
Why they chose this property
We have owned these cottages for nearly 10 years and we still marvel at the super sea view every time we visit. It is what convinced us to purchase in the first place.
