We enjoyed our stay at Lewes and the owner of the property was responsive and very nice. However, the house was a little funky and could use some attention. The AC system worked well, which was good because many of the windows didn't open due to broken handles. There were five of us, but only one bedside had a light for reading. There were few items for cooking at home - no bowls for salad or making pancakes - and I ended up buying a skillet and leaving it there. Also no soap, dishwashing detergent, toilet paper, or other basic supplies. Some of the screens were held on with duct tape. There was a screened-in porch which would have been lovely for eating but only furnished with a tiny table and a couple of plastic chairs. If none of this would bother you, it is still a lovely beach across the street.

1970’s Beach House
RENTERS BEWARE! When you are looking to rent this property make sure that you are aware that this is a duplex and the pictures shown on the site are for the lower unit, which has recently been updated. The uppper unit, while it has beautiful views, (but no outside furniture to sit on) has not been updated since 1970! The furniture was not comfortable, there was no cable TV and the kitchen was sparsely furnished. The unit was clean and the beds were comfortable. Also, the owner was very prompt in responding to our needs. Overall, we had a great vacation because the weather was gorgeous and we didn’t spend much time a the house.

Very nice stay near the beach in Lewes!
Fantastic wrap around deck with great views, especially of beautiful sunsets. Thirty second walk to the beach is wonderful. And location is great for bike rides especially to Cape Henlopen. Beds are comfortable, the sofa is new and very nice. Great to have Netflix and Amazon Prime on a large screen. Enjoyed cooking a lot but a little more light would be nice in the kitchen. Enjoyed the screened porch, too, but chairs could be a bit sturdier for the more robust of us! (I am not of the robust nature so the chairs were fine!!!)
One request (for vanity sake!)--a full length mirror anywhere in house would be great. And yes, shower is excellent. We plan to return with our bikes. And the owner of the house is available and very helpful! We felt welcomed.

Excellent location. One minute walk to lovely beach. Sunset views from deck. Very clean and spaci
The location could not have been better for us. We had the lazy beach vacation we were looking for. We had the top floor of a house with two units. Nice view of salt marsh and sunset from back deck. No bay view but could hear water on quiet night. Beach less than block away, easy access. Very quiet beach. Very clean space. Kitchen could use updating but functional. Gas grill made cooking at home easy. Screened in porch would have been even better with more comfortable seatting. Owner was very easy to reach and quick to respond. We hope to stay here again.

Great beach house in needs of uprgrade
We had great time at the beach house. The house needs some upgrade, like for example, the bathroom, the fridge, the dishwasher, and need more dishes, like plates. Other wise, it was a great place to stay and it was very convenient to get to the beach. Laure

Relaxing vacation, wonderful location
We stayed on the upper level of the property.
We really enjoyed our stay at this house. The location was ideal. It was right across the street from the beach, and the area was residential, so there was not much traffic and was very quiet at night. Plenty of space for our group (5 adults, 1 child). Very comfortable with AC. One day, though, was cool enough that we turned off the AC, had the screens in the doors and windows and the door to the screen porch open, and we had a wonderful sea breeze all day!!
We went across the street to the beach often. This beach is lovely! Not very crowded, even in mid-July!! Our 2 1/2 year-old really enjoyed the water with the gentle waves here. (Some days we also drove to Cape Henlopen for bigger waves.)
We had a few meals out on the screen porch. (We had brought our own card table from home, though, for enough table space to do this. I would recommend having a larger table for eating meals out on the porch.)
The owner, Ryan, and his parents were readily available if we had any questions.
We would highly recommend this location, and are hoping we can book here again next year!

Great location, off the beaten track but not too much
Three bedrooms, two baths and nice living area were very comfortable for a family of four adults. Lovely views, easy walk to very, very nice beach. The town of Lewes is charming and quiet, relative to Rehoboth. Ryan is wonderful to work with. And, the ice cream at "Two Scoops" nearby is great!

Great location, quiet and close walk to beach!
Upper unit beautiful to sit out on deck and enjoy the breeze! Plenty of space to relax indoors. New hanging chair was perfect! Beach perfect for younger kids. The waves are friendly.

Great for Families
The place was clean but with enough wear to it that any family with little ones won't be on edge. So close to the beach (1 minute walk), and an owner who was super easy to work with -- very prompt. The Roku was nice to have (sorry if I bumped all the nerdy channels to the top -- WSJ, Ted Talks, etc.) -- and the swinging chair received a prodigious amount of love from my daughter -- pretty sure her stuffed animals are still sea-sick. Can't say enough about the proximity to the beach and how uncrowded it was. Great place for families!

Awesome Getaway - Wonderful Owner
We had a great time. The property is very well maintained, and Ryan ( owner ) was very easy to deal with. Nice quiet location across the street from the beach. Classic 1960's beach house. Wonderful wrap around deck and screened in porch. We would definitely recommend.

Great beach home!
We had a great time at this vacation home. It is an older traditional beach home, but clean and comfortable and perfect for family. We stayed in the upstairs unit. The beds were comfortable and sheets and towels were provided and very nice. There was plenty of cookware and utencils. It is just across the street from the beach which was convenient. Being on the bay side was perfect for the small children with us to play in the water without huge waves. The beach was not crowded at all where we were. The owners were very friendly and accessible when we had questions. We would stay there again.

A Perfect Getaway
We had a wonderful week in Lewes. The property was perfect-comfortable and clean. The location was perfect as we could walk to the bayside beach or could make a short drive to Rehobeth or Cape Henlopen park for ocean side beach time. We will definitely rent here again!!

About the host
Hosted by Ryan Cecil
I am an airline captain and ex-military aviator who grew up in Delaware, but have lived all over the world. This property has been in my family for over 40 years and I have enjoyed spending my summers here since as long as I can remember. Anything I can do to make your stay more enjoyable will be my pleasure. I have a jet boat and often take friends out on the water to do some wakeboarding, tubing or waterskiing. If I'm not out flying, I should be right across the street at my parent's house. My parents, Dick and Lynn Cecil, are extremely friendly always available as well if you need anything. I'm also fluent in French - je parle français.
Why they chose this property
Lewes beach is the crown jewel of the Delaware beach scene. My family has been coming here for three generations and it's only getting better. I have friends from all over the world who have fallen in love with Lewes with its lovely victorian houses and upscale restaurants, bars and shopping. It's the oldest and most charming town in the state with a unique history.
What makes this property unique
I love sitting on the built-in bench on the corner of the wrap-around deck. It's the perfect place to catch the lovely bay breeze and fabulous views. It's a great place to just chill.
