Nestled at the foot of the Bavarian alps in Ostallgäu, in the not-too-touristy town of Pfronten just minutes from Füssen and King Ludwig's famed Schloss Neuschwanstein, lies the Allgäuer Appartementhaus. The light-filled studio apartment #6 with a king and bunk beds sleeps four and has a perfect mini kitchen for preparing light meals. A large flower-bedecked balcony furnished with a table and chairs, overlooks the town to the landmark St. Nikolaus church and the mountains beyond. Hiking/biking and cross-country ski trails are just out the door and restaurants, beer gardens, cafés, bakeries and wonderful shopping abound just minutes away by foot. The gondola to take you up the Breitenberg for alpine skiing and parasailing is five minutes away; local lakes offer swimming, boat rentals, and day trips on the water. There is a sunny terrace for sun-bathing, picnicking or enjoying a refreshing drink, a large sauna area, and a ski-room.

The town was having waist water problems and the pipes and roads were under construction so it smelled bad.

Very Comfortable
We very much enjoyed our stay at this apartment. It was basic but clean and conveniently located within walking distance from shops and restaurants. We enjoyed a trip to the nearby swimming pool, a visit to the tea shop and lots of ice cream at Caffeteria Italiana, the latter knowing all about gluten free, just like the Restaurant Sägemühle, which is only a ten minute drive away. The tourism card gives you discounts at many places and free public transport. Extra points for the comfy beds, the ample towel hooks, the friendly and helpful caretaker, the well functioning WiFi! Our only grievance was the fact that people would smoke out on the other balconies which gives you a choice of smoke wafting in or keeping the windows closed. Nevertheless, we are planning to return.

Empfehlenswert.
