Comfortable, great value apartment in Lisbon's historical quarter

My friend and I stayed for 8 nights in this apartment, and it felt like a home from home with all the tourist attractions practically on our doorstep. It was clean and well-stocked with shower gel, a washing machine + detergent pods, iron + ironing board, and enough cooking utensils (note that there's no microwave and the modern electric oven can take some figuring out, but it works!) Communication with TravellingToLisbon was a little patchy - it took a day or so to get a reply to fairly important questions via Vrbo/WhatsApp, and the cleaner's visit was a bit of a surprise - but when they did reply they were friendly and informative. Note that payment is taken in two stages via TTL's website (which initially made me nervous as this voids Vrbo's payment protection promise, but all was fine and TTL seem to be a reputable, well-established company) - a deposit to secure the property, then the rest at later. Check-in on the day was seamless, and Mourad provided the best start to our trip with a warm welcome and prompt key handover. Pre-visit check-in involved the slightly fiddly uploading of passport scans to the TTL website, but all was eventually resolved. WiFi was working just fine when we visited - clearly fixed since previous reviews. The only other things to bear in mind is that the shower is located near the entrance and not ensuite in the upstairs 'attic' room as I'd thought. There's no door on this room either, but the stairs offer enough privacy. Happy overall!

Property was very nice. Everything was in walking distance. Everything was clean and exactly how it was detailed on Vrbo. Would stay here again and would recommend it.

Lisboa

Great location of the city. Which was fantastic Overall a wonderful experience A few hiccups , but no big deal The disher had dishes in it, not sure if they were clean or dirty (even though we didn’t cook). My friend arrived many many hours before me and because I didn’t put his name he couldn’t check in until I arrived ( Portuguese law) . Once we were checked in, it was great

Wonderful apartment in Center City

Cozy and comfortable apt in old City center close to everything. Our flight was late, both driver and Manuel Jose met us after 9:30pm to insure we had access to the apt. Wonderful hosts.

Disappointing

To begin with something positive, the staff with whom we were in contact were uniformly pleasant and spoke good English. There were several of them suggesting a fairly large organization We arranged through the apartment managing company staff to be picked up at the airport. The driver, another very pleasant person, was not there when we arrived and it was a good 15 minutes of anxious searching among the many people waiting to pick up visitors before his sign appeared. The fare (payable to the rental company) was twice what a cab cost our friends who joined us next day. The photographs suggest a modern, clean and attractive apartment. In fact it is quite tired looking and when we arrived there was a musty smell that suggested it has not been aired for sometime (possibly since last season). In the evenings clear, normal conversation could be heard from a neighboring apartment making sleep difficult for our friends. Homeless couples were residing under trees in the parkette next door waking us most morning arguing as they made their way into the city. One morning a queen sized, filthy mattress had been dumped over the wall in the front entrance area (it was removed later in the day). Some of the china mugs had been replaced in the cupboards still with food residue in them. Although more or less clean and tidy there were places which had not received any attention. Our bathroom had a window ledge covered in dust and tree debris. There were the advertised kitchen utensils and appliances but we were unable to figure out the oven/microwave and there were no manuals or other instructions for us to consult. Finally, our TV did not work. An agent came on two successive day and finally called in someone who indicated it probably needed a new cable box. We therefore had no working TV for our entire stay. Overall this worked out much more expensive, due to add ons, than the advertisement suggested. Potential renters need to check this carefully. Despite all these quibbles the city itself was worth the visit. The weather was initially unusually rainy and cool but improved later. There were also more people than we had expected for the end of April and trams etc were very full. Portuguese folk overall we found were very pleasant and helpful.

Nice modern apartment in Baixa Lisbon

Apartment 321 is in an old building but has been modernized with a 2 bedrooms - a king size downstairs and a attic bedroom with a twin bed; 2 nice bathrooms; kitchen with W/D; oven; Dishwasher; nice dining room with TV. Has internet that is best in the dining and living area not so good in the bedrooms. Very well stocked with cutlery, cooking utensils, plates, cups, glasses. Our taxi could not find the place. Best address to use for Uber or Taxi is Graffiti Santa Maria Maior or Rue Sao Mamede 22; most folks do not find the actual address. From this drop off point there is a steep climb up to the building. A flight of stairs going up to a iron gate - then 3 doors to the apartment. Very centrally located. Close to restaurants; Castelo Sao Jorge (about 4-5 min walk); Alfama; there is a well stocked grocery store PINGO DOCE about 3 min away. Was an awesome place to stay, Managers were helpful. There is no place to store bags if you need to check out early or arrive early and want to walk around - the apt folks suggest Rossio station lockers - they are usually full. Overall and strong recommend.
