September on the Cape

This was our second stay at the Saltbox house, and it was wonderful again! We had guests who had never been to the Cape (Jersey Shore people), and they fell in love with the privacy and charm of the home and yard. Everything we needed was provided in the well equipped kitchen, and it was very convenient to have a washer and dryer. The house was sparkling clean too!

Fantastic rental

This house on a cul de sac in a fantastic neighborhood was perfect for our 2 week family vacation! We had plenty of room to relax but the screened porch was key for enjoying our meals and playing games after our days on the beach. The house was clean and beautifully decorated. Comfortable beds and a fabulous outdoor shower. The location is great ! Easy to get to both the bay and ocean beaches as well as Wiley Park and pond. Our hosts were easy to contact and helped us out with a few questions we had. I highly recommend this relaxing house in North Eastham. We stayed for two weeks and it was hard to leave!

Our regular, soon to be yours?

We stayed at this property two years now and are thinking about a third. I probably shouldn't be giving it such a glowing review because it will just make it harder to book for us, but here goes. The place is large and clean with high ceilings in the main room and nicely divided into sections. There is a TV/game room, a living kitchen room, an upstairs loft and three bedrooms. Our family of two adults, two kids and two grandparents had plenty of room with some to spare. I am a big man, and although the queen size bed was smaller than the king my wife and I are used to, it was firm and comfortable. The property is in the woods, and very private. The location is close to 6, and Orleans, but not too close. If you don't have too much stuff to carry, there are a couple beaches walking distance from the property, but we always jumped in the car with our gear and headed to First Encounter Beach - a lovely lovely spot. Check it out. Finally, the owner of the property is really responsive and easy to deal with. Our first year there was an issue with the BBQ and he had someone out to fix it immediately. This Summer as we were worrying about COVID, he was very responsive, flexible and professional. I really cannot recommend this place enough. Go, enjoy yourself, but save a couple weeks for us!

Great location and relaxing feel

Eastham is a great location for activities like biking, beach visits, and hikes or running. Good set up for family with multiple levels and lots of cozy spots to curl up with a book (on the porch, deck, in the yard's hammock, in the window nook, . . .). All five of us were happy. A bit pricey, but worth it in the end.

Relaxing home away from home

We totally enjoyed our stay at the Salt Box Cottage. The space was perfect for our family and we enjoyed eating in the screened porch, watching movies on a rainy evening and reading in the sunny nook. This property is very well-maintained and is a short walk/bike ride to the beach. We'll plan to come back again next year!

Quiet home in the woods

This is the fourth place we have rented in Eastham in as many years, and by far the best. It’s quiet and tucked into the woods at the end of a culdesac yet is close to beaches and food. It has a well designed floor plan and a bright, airy and clean interior. I have very intense dust allergies and almost always react in people’s homes from furniture and pillows, but had no problem at all here. The two queen mattresses are solid, but the twin room beds are best for kids. They are a little flimsy for an adult, but do-able. One of the best things about this place is the huge screened in porch - adds a whole additional outdoor space to hang out in. The owner was professional and responsive when we had an issue. I highly recommend this place - enjoy!

Eastham Escape

We really enjoyed our vacation! The location of this property is ideal. You can easily enjoy the outer cape but still have easy access to larger stores in Orleans just a short drive away. We also enjoyed walking to the beach since it is under a mile away!

Great quiet location, lovely house

The location is centrally located on Cape and between the ocean and bay sides. The house is lovely and the new additions of the dining table in the porch and the outdoor hammock were well used. Plenty of hot water for showers and the kitchen is well stocked. It suited our family of 6 adults very well. The main rooms were warm but not unbearable with the windows open and the fans going. The bedrooms were cool with the air conditioning. Blake the owner was great and responsive and we used their beach and restaurant suggestions.

Relaxing, comfortable and aesthetically pleasing!

We could not be happier with Saltbox Cottage. Blake was quickly responsive to all communication. There was just two of us in the house so we mostly used the main floor. The loft area made a great yoga/meditation space. The furniture is very comfy with a choice of lounging areas. The kitchen is very well stocked with all the appliances, cooking utensils, pots and pans you could want. What was also nice was the availability of trash bags and dishwasher soap. The screened in porch is lovely to sit in with the property surrounded by trees and very quiet. The cottage is conveniently located to both bay and ocean beaches and to other communities as well. We have stayed in many vacation rentals over the years and this was by far one of the best. The only complaint (and this is minor) was the mustiness in the basement where the washer and dryer (excellent) are kept. Running a dehumidifier would solve the problem. This may have been more of a concern for us as we suffer from allergies. I will not hesitate to rent Saltbox again the next time we visit the Cape. It is a real find.

Beautiful, spacious, clean

We loved staying in this house and would stay again. Blake was responsive and left very clear instructions on where to find things and how to access everything. We stayed with 3 adult couples. It was a family vacation so it was important for us to be able to spread out and have our own spaces and we found this house accommodated this need. We spent most of the time in the kitchen/living room area and in the beautiful covered porch. On many occasions we were trying to claim the inviting window seat at the edge of the living room to curl up with a good book. The bedrooms were all spacious and clean. We cooked quite a bit and found everything in the kitchen we needed to do so. The yard was perfect for kids running around (if we had them) but it was a little buggy when we stayed. The air conditioning worked well in the bedrooms if the doors remained shut and the common spaces cooled with the ceiling fans. The location was great for us, it was an easy 10 minute flat walk to the nearest bayside beach. The house is at the end of an exceptionally quiet cul-de-sac. We found it very easy to drive to visit all over the Cape from Hyannis to Nauset Beach to Provincetown. The one drawback would be the hot water heater. We were warned in the welcome letter that the hot water drained and took a while to come back. That said, we found that after 1.5 (reasonable) showers, the water was cold for the remainder of the day. On the day we ran the dishwasher and laundry machine we only had enough hot water for a single warm shower in the morning. With a group of 6 showering at different times, most of us took cold showers that week. That said, it was a sacrifice I would likely make again for staying in such a nice home in a great location.

Beautiful private location, tasteful furnishings, quaint and comfortable.

My husband, our two small children, my in-laws and I had a wonderful time at this roomy, well-decorated cottage. It seemed that the cottage was convenient to everything – the bay beaches, Nauset Light, restaurants and stores along Route 6, the bike trail. Yet, when sitting on the beautiful screen porch, I felt totally secluded and away from it all. When there was an issue with a leaky faucet, the owner responded to my email in less than an hour and had it repaired within three. All my communications with him were extremely helpful and friendly. We just loved our week in this beach oasis and will definitely be back.

Feels like home! Excellent.

My husband and I rented this property, and stayed here with our sons and my parents. We all felt that the home was perfect to accommodate everyone! The home is both spacious and cozy, and extremely well appointed without being cluttered. The house was very clean and all the beds and furniture were extremely comfortable. Everything you could need for a wonderful stay at the Cape was available at this property. We especially loved the large screened-in porch, and spent almost every evening out there. Even the most beautiful yards on the Cape are no fun when the bugs come out at night, so having the screened in porch was a great bonus. The owners are very easy to work with. They were helpful and caring, and addressed any questions or concerns we had. We travel with several families, and have seen and rented many houses on the Cape over the past 18 years. We all agree this was one of our favorites! The location is close to all the beaches in Eastham as well as great restaurants. Despite being close to everything, the home is very private and nestled at the end of a quiet cul-de-sac. We highly recommend this lovely property to anyone, and look forward to returning again in the future!
