This is an original A-frame cabin, located on Maple Lake near Osakis. There are three bedrooms (one downstairs, two upstairs) and a bathroom in the main house, plus a bunkhouse for kids or extra guests. The A-frame and bunkhouse can sleep up to 10 people.

The property includes a gas grill, outdoor eating area, a fire pit (wood included), and a canoe.

The kitchen is well stocked with plates, silverware, cooking utensils, serving dishes, crock pot, electric griddle, coffee maker and toaster. We supply ALL paper products (TP, paper towels, etc.) for your stay.

Maple Lake is a quiet, 400 acre, oval shaped lake with cabins on only half the lake - perfect for fishing, boating, water skiing, or just enjoying. Maple Lake has walleye, northern, sunnies, crappies and large mouth bass. You can often catch fish right off the dock! The North and West side of the lake is a State Wild Life Management area. Nice cabin. Great location. Things to do for all ages. The bunk house is a great added sleeping area. Owners friendly and quick to respond. Just right for what we needed.

Family Fun

We had a small family gathering and this was a great spot to hang out, swim, and catch some fish! The bunk house was a great find for cousins to share space and good laughs. The upstairs is very comfortable, but yes, the stairs are very steep. Nicely fixed up cabin! Comfortable beds and pillows. Kitchen was well stocked to cook and grill all week. Dock is nice. Heads up for people with smaller kids- entry into the water from land isn't really an option (rocky and then a touch mucky with some mild clumps of weeds that are avoidable) but if your kids like jumping from the end of the dock into 4.5 feet of water, can use a life jacket, bring a lily pad, or use a boat- this swimming situation will work for you! We had a great time at this A frame cabin and would do it again and recommend to others! -Christine

So relaxing, perfect family time!

We all spent very little time 'out', and most of our time in the cabin playing games, doing puzzles and watching movies together. The hosts were very responsive and generous. The cabin was well supplied with very nice bedding. Everyone had a great time! I would definitely book this one again!

Family vacation

The cabin was beautiful. The lake was quite. Very peaceful. Very little boat traffic, so it was easy to take our grandchildren tubing. They had a blast.

Summer 2022

We had a great week. The property was clean and as listed. It is located at the end of the road so we had privacy. The lake is smaller with not a lot of boat traffic which made for a very peaceful week on the water.

Mediocre

Communication was not good. Very long (weeks) time before getting a response from owners. The beds, bedding, pillows, are all mediocre. My bed felt like it leaned. Owner was there frequently which takes away that camping feel. The driveway in is very narrow and the branches rub against vehicles. Spiders! Lots of spiders that got in our stuff and is now an issue we have to deal with. They say checkout is 11, but it’s actually 10 and the night before I was asked when we will be out because the cleaning lady wanted to know. Nothing about thank you for staying, hope it was good, nothing.

Great Getaway!

We were very happy with our cabin experience! The beginning of the week was just my husband, our 9 and 11 year olds, and me. Then later in the week family joined us. Mike came over and helped set up the pontoon rental for us, and answered many of our questions. He talked fishing and tubing with my kids. Very patient and kind. My son caught fish within seconds just casting from the dock. The lake was calm for pontooning, tubing, kayaking, canoeing and just swimming and floating on tubes- and fishing. We did use the bunk house with the arrival of family members. The kids thought it was fun and gave us more space. The kitchen was stocked with all the essentials one would need. The weather was perfect for our stay. Thanks for a good week!

Very clean and nice experience

Rental property had everything we needed in the cabin for supplies. This was a huge surprise as we did not have to use our supplies. When we arrived we had our own pontoon and the owners let us use their second dock for our pontoon. I would consider renting the property again in a he future.

Nature Lovers Retreat

The property is private and is surrounded by nature. There are 40 acres of woodland with deer, turtles and birds. The lake was peaceful and the weather ideal during our stay. Be sure to plan for drinking water and depending on the time of year you visit, the weeds in the lake made fishing more challenging than we would have liked. However, northern and bass were caught and the bluegill were very active. Overall, the setting was peaceful and Mike was available to answer any questions we had. He referred us to a retired boat repair guy who tuned up my brothers boat free of charge. That was awesome!

Three generations making memories

Every year, we invite our children and grandchildren to spend a week at a cabin. Our goal is to bond as a family and make memories doing the simple things. This cabin is surrounded by nature and its beauty. We saw eagles, pelicans, cormorants, loons, herons and more. We caught walleye, northern pike, crappie, and perch. We laughed when the cows in the nearby pasture came so close we thought they were in our yard. We bought jam, pickles, syrup and sweet corn from a local Amish family. We ventured into Osakis for ice cream and sampling at Panther Distillery. Yes, the stairs are steep heading to the upper bedrooms. But they are better than the ladder I climbed to get into the loft of other cabins. We appreciated the wagon for hauling firewood as well as moving groceries from our cars. We brought our own floatables so the kids could swim (right off the dock) but plenty of life jackets were provided on the pontoon (well worth the rental fee for those of us who love a leisurely cruise). We also brought a few campfire chairs for our almost nightly fires. The owners were friendly but not invasive. Their response was extremely quick when we had questions. A great quiet hideaway!

Nicest cabin in the area!

The cabin is nice (the photos are accurate) and living area and eat-in kitchen is spacious. Bedrooms are small without closets, but the beds are comfortable and there is drawer space and luggage racks. The stairs are very steep as others have mentioned and without a bathroom up that can be a challenge for those staying upstairs. Kitchen is nicely outfitted. We would prefer not to have carpet (floors are tile and carpet) from a cleanliness standpoint, but know that is a personal preference. There is central air conditioning which was a real plus for us—all other cabins we’ve stayed in the area had window units. The unit is in a utility closet in the downstairs bedroom (which creates white noise for those who sleep with a sound machine.) The small bunk house is cute but we didn’t use it. The location is quiet because it is at the very end of a narrow, winding dirt road. The road quality and access is not a plus for us, but that also is a personal preference. The fishing was as good as my husband (who is a catch and release from the dock kind of fisherman) has had in the area, so that was a plus! Our grandchildren visited us a couple of days and enjoyed fishing too. We also took them for a ride on a pontoon boat and saw the eagle’s nest and bald eagles. Thanks to Mike for his assistance in using the boat. It was a pleasant week!

Another great stay!

This was our second visit to this cabin and it was just as great as the first time! Everything is clean and well-kept. The owners are friendly, responsive, and usually nearby if issues arise. Once again we were able to enjoy the lake with the pontoon. We had a wonderful time with our family and will probably be back for a third time!

Fun Stay

The property was clean and spacious and the owners were flexible. As advertised it is a great fishing lake, we enjoyed catching many pan fish, and our 2 year old son caught his first fish right off the dock immediately after casting.

Wonderful Girls weekend

The cabin was beautiful! Honestly the only negative I can say is to be aware of the stairs to upstairs. I would not suggest elderly or young children as they are VERY steep stairs. When remodeling, these stairs were once a ladder. Other than that, hosts were helpful and cabin was perfect!!!

Peaceful lake spot

We had a very nice stay. The lake was small but quiet and there was lots of wildlife to see. We enjoyed listening to the loons and seeing them on the water. We had lots of fun on the pontoon, it was nice and worked well. We fished and tubed. Owner Mike answered the phone right away when we had a question and he stopped by, giving us some bait and lures, which was very kind. We caught sunfish off the dock and kayaked on the lake as well. The dock and boat lift are in very good condition. Some of our party had a little trouble with the steps to the lake; they are in good repair, but a handrail would be a helpful addition. The cabin was extremely nice inside and everything was clean, and the wifi and satellite tv were much appreciated when it was rainy. The , worked well, and we found all cooking utensils, etc that we needed. We found the beds could be more comfortable, but often have the same opinion of hotel beds. There was plenty of seating inside and outside; we enjoyed a fire for some campfire cooking and s'mores. I would definitely stay again, thanks so much for a relaxing vacation!

Just what we needed

This "cabin on a lake" was a great place for our 3-day, family getaway. Our family of four, with two adult children, fit well into the main cabin (did not use the bunk house). The two upstairs bedrooms gave private space when needed, the kitchen was lovely and had everything we wanted (including outside grill), the A/C and ceiling fans worked well, too. The only heads-up I'd give to other trip planners is that the stairs going to the upstairs were best climbed by "young knees". We rented the pontoon for a day and were very impressed. Great boat. The price was worth it --- for a morning fishing trip, afternoon lunch on the boat and dip in the water, and an evening ride at sunset. The conversations that were prompted were priceless. Thanks, Mike and Patty, for all the work you've put into making this cabin a place for memories to be created.

Wonderful family experience off the beaten path .... Great fishing off the dock and comfy cabin!!

Cabin is newly refurbished and easily houses 10 guests ~ everyone has enough space! ... rooms are comfy and kitchen is easy to use! Upstairs is NOT handicap accessible with a very steep set of stairs due to the A-frame design, however, lower bedroom and bath are manageable for all. Added bonus of a separate "bunkhouse" was a treat for extra sleeping space! Nice firepit and outside picnic tables for meals ... plus, added bonus of large TV for rainy days! Maple Lake is a beautiful small lake with many panfish for fun a fishing experience!! We loved our stay =)

Wonderful cabin for a family vacation!

We had one of the best family vacations here we've ever had! The location is wonderful. It's very quiet with no neighbors to one side, and the rest of the people around the lake are very respectful. As others have mentioned, the photos do not do the cabin justice! It is well-appointed with all the amenities you need. We had no issues finding utensils, pots and pans, etc. The owners are very accessible and super kind and helpful. Mike made a couples trips over to help resolve a satellite issue, and while there, offered to set us up with fishing gear and a knee board. (My son was SUPER excited on both counts!) We had the use of the pontoon for our stay as well, and had a blast swimming off the boat and tubing. The water off the end of the dock is fairly deep for small kids or if you're not a confident swimmer. However, we made use of our own floaties we brought from home and kept the little kids in life jackets. They thought it was great! The water is clean and with the lake being smaller and quiet, you can enjoy it safely without being worried you'll get run over by some crazy boaters or jet skiers. We saw tons of loons, pelicans, and bald eagles (perfect for the 4th of July!). The fishing off the dock is incredible as well. We caught lots of crappies, sunnies, and a few walleye. We also enjoyed our daily visits by the cows in the pasture across the road. This was the perfect place for our crew of 7 (3 adults, 4 kids). Our 3 boys loved the bunkhouse set-up, and the rest of us had our own rooms in the main cabin. Everything was super clean and well-kept, but not overly fussy. Very family friendly! You know you've found the right place when your kids ask before you even leave if you can come back next year! We hope to visit again!
