About this property

Timbessie Barn in the heart of traditional Wensleydale village, Yorkshire Dales.

Timbessie Barn in the village of Carperby, is a tastefully converted and beautifully decorated traditional stone built barn.
The accommodation is over two floors, accessed at street level via a path through a courtyard garden, enclosed by a traditional dry stone wall. The external steps are not used to access the barn, but are a lovely traditional feature of the old farm building.
On the ground floor there are two en-suite bedrooms (double and twin) a shower room and a hallway with plenty of room for outdoor clothing and muddy boots.
On the first floor there is a very welcoming lounge\dining room with triple aspect windows and fabulous views across Wensleydale. The room is fully equipped with a wood burning stove, comfortable sofa and occasional chairs, TV, DVD player, CD player and Internet. Perfect for a relaxing break or a cosy night in after a day of walking or exploring the area. The room also has a dining table for enjoying home cooking or fish and chips from the van that visits the village every Wednesday evening (around 7.30p.m.).
The first floor also has a beautifully decorated and well equipped kitchen with electric oven and hob, microwave oven, dishwasher, fridge and freezer. The dual aspect windows give a lovely view of the village and the Wheatsheaf pub that is about 200 metres along the road. An easy walk when you prefer to eat out rather than cook and eat in!
The fully enclosed courtyard area to the front of Timbessie Barn is an intimate area where you can sit out to eat, have a drink or just relax. It catches the sun from breakfast time through to evening from Spring to Autumn (unless it is raining!)
The barn also offers off-road parking in the adjacent, fully enclosed and gated, informal garden with a gravel track.
This informal garden is also a perfect place to enjoy the views across Wensleydale and set up a BBQ on the prepared paved area.

It really does live up to the 5* reviews

The barn is perfectly placed, spotlessly clean and has absolutely everything you could need. We stayed for 3 nights over easter and enjoyed every minute of it.

Very well equipped cottage

We have had a lovely stay in the Timbessie Barn, the kitchen has everything you need (apart from a washing machine) and the beds and sofas are very comfy. A bit disappointed there was no welcome basket, not even a pint of milk, but for location and dog friendliness a great property. The village is lovely with a great pub and a really good Fish and Chip van delivers on a Wednesday.

We enjoyed it

We spent a marvellous holiday at Timbessie Barn. Thanks to its tasteful interior it is a place that makes you feel at home. Rarely did we stay in a holiday home that was as well equipped (even with little things) as Timbessie Barn. The house was spotlessly clean and extremely well looked after. Probably not the last time for holidays in the N-Yorkshire Dales. Thank you!

A wonderful second stay at Timbessie Barn

This is an extremely comfortable, well cared for and spotless property, situated in an ideal location for explring the Yorkshire Dales National Park. This was the second year in a row we have stayed, and we're already planning our next stay! We were very reluctant to leave.

Fabulous stay

The property is in a lovely part of the Yorkshire Dales, with easy access to so many wonderful walks and beauty spots. Aysgarth Falls is just a short walk from the centre of the hamlet and it is equidistant between Leyburn and Hawes. The property itself is cosy and comfortable, with everything you might need. We liked the upside down arrangement, with lovely views from the windows. We hope to return.

100% The best we’ve ever stayed in.

Such a wonderful place, the best we have ever stayed in. Everything had been thought of, right down to welcoming lights as we arrived late. This is a real home from home with all the benefits of superb location, exquisite decor, top-notch cleanliness and helpful owners. I can’t praise it enough.

Amazing Property in Great Location

Incredibly well appointed and beautifully furnished barn, open fire very welcome! Great location for exploring the Yorkshire Dales, Aysgarth Fall and Castle Bolton both walking distance away and well worth a visit. Great communication and fantastic owners, we were snowed in on the day we were due to leave but had an early call letting us know we could stay until the roads were clear and safe to head home. Thanks again
