Throughly enjoy coming here for the quiet and peaceful atmosphere. Cabin is perfect for relaxing on the deck and watching the kayaks float by on the creek. The beach is private and clean with white sand. We love it!
The kids had a few days off so we wanted to try it out,I was surprised how clean it was and super happy I could bring my dog. We will be back next summer
Wendel’s Place was the perfect place for my family to spend a relaxed week on red creek with my family. The kitchen is well equipped, beds comfortable and location is to die for. It’s quiet with a great view of the river and you can easily float from the cabin to City Bridge in two hours (good trip for small kids). We will be back. Probably soon.

Loved this cabin!
This was a perfect location for the relaxing, quiet retreat I was needing! The option of the other nearby cabins also would make a wonderful family vacation place, close enough to meet on the creek bank for a cook out, playing in the water with grandkids and even a covered stage area for music, but still private. Well stocked kitchen with new cookware, coffee pot, microwave, range and fridge, we had no problem stirring up meals. Pet friendly was perfect and the website was easy to navigate. The owners were very friendly and we will book here again soon!!

Exactly what we needed!
We had a blast at this beautiful property! My husband and 3 kids decided to unplug for the weekend and we couldn’t have picked a better place! Swimming at the creek, grilling on the porch, and making s’mores by the fire and just exploring the property! We definately will be back and bring more people next time! Thank you so much for sharing your piece of heaven with us!
We had a great time kayaking one day then a Beach day. Mosquitoes were bad I guess it was from the flood. Don’t forget water shoes if you have tender feet. Wishing good luck to uncle Ralph’s cabins
getting it fixed up after the flood. It’s a beautiful place. We had a great time.
This was one of the best weekend getaways we had in a while! All of the kids had a blast! The cabin was very clean and comfortable! The ac worked great! Loved, loved, loved the big back deck! Will definitely be making another trip soon!
Just Right for a great down to earth stay. Out of the busy life if you like that (we sure do!). We appreciated the time an Owner and past family who taken many steps in sharing there cabin with the public. Thus don't think it is going to be a brand new modern villa. The visitor should recognize the years this cabin has stood tall and the story's behind it, recognize the abuse the cabin goes thru, the hardship of mother nature. So overall the Owner and team has done great work in keeping the cabin in great shape. The cabin was built before lots of codes, thus be careful that the railing is not at standard height (thank goodness otherwise you won't get a view). Recognize that you are in the woods (bring bug spray) - and no problem. Thus a wonderful creek that sometimes might be swift or just right for play. a GREAT PLACE AWAY FROM THE REGULAR LIFE!
If you are looking for luxury accomodations, this is not for you. If you are looking for comfort and an awesome outdoor vacation with amazing views, this is it! We stay here every year for our annual krewe kayak trip. We love it! The house is old and rustic but very comfortable. It has a fully stocked kitchen. I suggest you bring extra towels and your own pillows. The creek will not disappoint!!

Fun weekend getaway
The cabin was very clean when we arrived. And not too far of a walk to the sand bar. However, there is poison ivy growing on the ground on the path to the sandbar. It was stressful trying to keep multiple toddlers running around away from it.
We had a blast playing in the creek and hanging out on the porch. Local family was able to drive out and spend time us. We also went down the road to snow boogers and had a good time.
The kitchen had everything needed to cook basic meals. The listing said there was a fold out couch in the living room but I don’t think it folds out. We tried to figure it out but couldn’t get it to work lol. There was a cat that hung around and let my kids pet it on the porch. It got inside and we had a hard time getting it out. It wasn’t a big deal, cats don’t bother us and my kids thought it was funny.
The only thing that was kind of frustrating was that I couldn’t find a phone number to contact the host. There was no signal or WiFi and the satellite went out. We did end up figuring out how to fix it ourselves but if it had been something more important, there was no way to contact the host without driving back a ways until I had enough signal to use internet and email the host and hope they respond soon.
Overall, we enjoyed our stay very much!
Don’t forget to pack bug spray! They are relentless in the evenings!
We had a great weekend at the house. Wish we had known that there wasnt a lot to work with as far a kitchen . (3 can openers with would not opwn a can.) And Shower doesn't have alot of water pressure.
Had a lot of fun hanging out at the sand bar. Will definitely go again next year.
My few short days here were the most relaxing days I've had in a long time. Being a front line worker during this time has taken it's toll and I feel s I refreshed after my time in the creek!
Such a lovely experience and excellent service. We can't say enough good things about wonderful place in the wilderness. If your looking for a "Girl Scouts" dream, this is the place for you.

Why they chose this property
This property has been obtained because of the close proximity to family land passed down from generation to generation. This quiet place is at the end of our private road were we have 2 other properties. It just enabled us to have an entire beach front property with no one in between for privacy and tranquility. We hold these hidden gems close to our hearts and would love to share the experiences we had as children with you and your children.
What makes this property unique
Bring your kayaks, canoes, or tubes and relax! Very peaceful private property .
