Lovely cottage and delightful hosts
The cottage has all the facilities you might need, and the Welcome Box of goodies was a nice touch. The heating came on morning and evening and warmed the cottage very well. We didn't need to use the log fire. The Spar shop, located a minute's walk away, was very useful. I can recommend this accommodation to anyone thinking about a holiday to short break in Dorset.

Memorable stay
The cottage had everything we needed. The back garden looked out over a field and was secluded. So many walks nearby and not far from the beach. The local pubs and cafes were very welcoming and all dog friendly. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Lovely cottage in an excellent location
Lovely comfortable spacious cottage in a great location for making the most of the many local walks in the wonderful Dorset countryside. Good accessibility to the local beaches and other attractions in the area with the delightful Beaminster town centre only a short walk away from the cottage. The pretty garden was an unexpected bonus and perfect for relaxing in at the end of the day. We really enjoyed our stay and are keen to come back !

Fabulous cottage
Arrived at Martock Cottage for a much needed break. And the cottage was perfect right down to the welcome hamper and treats left for my dog! The cottage is beautiful and felt so comfortable on walking in. Tracy and family clearly care a lot for the cottage and have kitted it out perfectly… you can tell that they love staying there too. Great for just chilling out and for exploring the local area and beaches. We had a great time thanks! x

We're a family of four and stayed for a week. The access was easy with the provided code for the key. The cottage provides everything you'll need for self-supply. Even a supermarket with customer-friendly opening hours is nearby. The cottage is well located for trips around the region. The communication with the host was excellent and always quick. An accommodation to recommend.

Long weekend
Matlock Cottage is a lovely everything you need is there beautifully decorated throughout. The only thing that let it down was we coukdnt use the outside cushions as they were dirty where they possibly have been left out and garden table needs replacing as a bit rusty but otherwise great cosy place and helpful host. 10 /10

Great location
The cottage was well appointed, all the basics were covered and it suited us well for a long weekend. The welcome hamper was a lovely touch and provided some basics too. I hadn't realised the bathroom was downstairs and whilst not devastating it did cause me some concern with night time use. The cottage was superficially clean, but there were some areas of inattention. I did raise one issue with the owner and apologies were given, along with a bottle of wine, but I hope that steps will also be taken to prevent reoccurence.

Cosy Martock Cottage
We loved our stay in Martock Cottage. We were especially looking for a holiday stay with comfortable and dog secure outside space, this was perfect at Martock, Eddie loved sitting on the bathtub bench and watching the wildlife. Inside was beautifully clean and very charming. Very well placed for walking into Beaminster for food at some lovely eateries. Thank you again x

Lovely cottage
We had a lovely stay at Martock Cottage . We live in a quiet village location so found that neighbourhood and road noise disturbed us. Hence not a 5/5 for location. However having shops, pubs, cafes and restaurants within walking distance was a real bonus.

Beaminster
The cottage was excellent, very clean and comfortable, the beds were also very comfortable, my only problem was the stairs and that's down to me getting old and my mobility, but apart from that it was brilliant, shop just a few doors up from the cottage, that stocked just about everything you could want. Also Dorset is such lovely place, and there was plenty of places to visit all within an hours drive. Thankyou for such a lovely stay

Lovely cottage in a nice village location
Myself, my husband, two children (age 7 and 11) and our dog stayed for a week mid-August and we loved it! The cottage itself has been done to a really high standard and there was nothing we were left wanting for. Tracy, the owner, got in touch a few weeks before our stay to confirm the check in process and give us some other information, and again on the day or arrival to check we’d arrived and all was ok. The garden is small but beautifully peaceful with the field of sheep behind us which the dog very much enjoyed keeping an eye on. The village is perfect-two lovely, friendly pubs, nice shops and cafes and lots of dog walking routes on your doorstep. It was only a short drive to nearby Bridport which is a lovely town to spend a few hours in. We also visited the beaches at West Bay and Eype. Wish we’d had time to get to Hive Beach and Burton Bradstock but we very much enjoyed a very restful week here. Thank you Tracy and family!

Hi, I'm married and we've got a lovely six year old daughter called Mia and a very cute border terrier called Tilly. We love to travel around the UK and the world, showing Mia all the wonderful places we visited before she was born.

We both run our own businesses (communications and plumbing) so we've got a great work life balance. This means we get to spend lots of time at our cottage in West Dorset enjoying the local beaches with Mia and the dog. Thailand is our all time favorite overseas destination, we've yet to take Mia!

We are all fully house trained and we treat other peoples homes with as much care and pride as we do our own.

Why they chose this property

Built in 1852, our cottage is perfectly situated to explore the stunning Jurassic coastline of West Dorset. In less than 20 minutes, you can also visit the beautiful beaches featured in ITV drama Broadchurch.

Just a stones throw away from the heart of Beaminster, Martock Cottage is a two bedroom holiday home which accommodates four guests and one small furry friend if you have one.

The semi-detached former workers cottage has been beautifully restored and refurnished in 2018 and now offers, granite worktops, USB charging points, a dishwasher and a laundry room complete with tumble dryer.

What makes this property unique

In a natural valley in West Dorset, Beaminster is a small town with all the charm of a village so I’d call it tillage.

With several pubs, eateries, boutique shops, coffee shops, a butchers, a bakers and a green grocers you've got everything you need within a five minute walk of the cottage.

Situated among four of Dorsets highest peaks the surrounding countryside provides the most amazing views in the country. If you like the great outdoors, there are many amazing walks right on your doorstep.

If you want to take in the beautiful scenery without the walk, you can book a day to explore with Beaminsters Donkey Walking Adventures or UK Llamas. This provides chance to explore and includes a few refreshment stops and keep the kids entertained at the same time.

Local shops

There is a convenience store just 60 seconds from the cottage. If you walk to Beaminster Square, which is around five minutes away, you will find everything you need. The closest supermarket is Morrisons in Bridport which is about a 15 minutes drive.

In Beaminster square you will find:

Co-Op
