About this property

CwCw Barn - Cuckoo Barn, on a hillside near the Brecon Beacons

Cwcw (cuckoo) Barn is a superb recent conversion of an old stone and slate farm building on an upland hill farm in Carmarthenshire, Wales.
We often see and more often hear the cwcw in spring, hence the name for this conversion of our beef herd's old home into a comfortable warm and stylish house.
With its stylish decor and amazing views this romantic and spacious barn will both wow and cosset you.

There is a large double bedroom with king size bed, one large twin room with en-suite bathroom, a small twin room and a shower room.
The master bedroom has a king size (5 foot wide ) double bed.
The second bedroom has twin 3ft beds, and an en-suite bath room with a shower over the bath. This is a lovely spacious and quiet room at the end of the barn.
There is another twin bedded room, which is small but cosy.
Please note that we do not allow sleeping on the sofas.
Thus we can accommodate up to 6, easily, but do not allow more than that (babies excepted).
You will have ample parking spaces, a sheltered sunny outside terraced area with table and eating/sitting space and a lawned garden area that provides a little bit of peace and quiet and has great views across the valley.

Cwcw Barn is well stocked; with basics such as teas, coffee, and other simple cooking needs etc, to wide screen TV, DVD, a smart Humax TV recorder that makes access to iPlayer , Netflix (provided) etc very easy, radio HiFi/CD sound system, a Bluetooth speaker and 20 meg Wifi, with books and magazines to browse.

Whether your stay is for family, friends or a romantic weekend get away, you could not ask for a more delightful retreat from the hustle and bustle of modern life, and you are within seconds of quiet countryside walks which can be as challenging as you wish; a stroll around the farm or on sheltered roads and footpaths, or up to the top of Fforest, the nearest hill top of the Cambrian range at about 1300 feet.
All without using the car.

This is a stylish warm and peaceful building with cosy underfloor heating throughout, supplied by an oil boiler and also a stand alone Woodstove.
It is well appointed, quiet and has lovely extensive countryside views and a sheltered terraced outside area to eat al fresco or just sit quietly.
There is parking for numerous cars beside the barn.

Sleeps 6 in 3 bedrooms with the option of a cot and high chair for an infant.

+ Short breaks (2 night minimum)

+ Romantic? Most definitely!

+ Couples? Ideal.

+ For a group of friends? Perfect.

+ A family? Oh yes.

- Smokers? Sorry no, definitely not inside the building.

- Pets? Not allowed at all, sorry.

- Hen or stag parties? Sorry, definitely not; this is a quiet place, so no noisy groups please.

The main shower room is small and should be ok for a wheel chair user - there is no step into the shower and it has a large double doorway.

There is a very quiet minor road running past the barn, so walks with great views and without getting your shoes dirty are possible on the doorstep too.

Cwcw Barn has under floor central heating with oak flooring in the lounge, tiled floor in the kitchen, and the shower room. Bedrooms are carpeted.

The twin bedroom with en suite shower room is at the end of the barn, and so would be quiet for a child, if they needed to be in bed earlier than the rest of the group.

There is a separate shower room, which is small, and has a loo and a large wet room type shower with no step into the shower.

The kitchen is fully equipped with all the normal features; it is large, with room for the dining table that seats 6 easily, a long comfortable sofa/bench and an island unit.
Equipment includes; electric oven, grill and ceramic hob with extractor fan, fridge/freezer, dishwasher, washing machine, microwave, kettle, toaster, cafetiere and all the usual cooking utensils and pans and so on.
French doors to the sheltered terrace.
CD/radio, mP3/iPod connection.
A dining table that can seat up to 8.

Ironing board, iron (and even soft water for the iron) and a hairdryer are all provided.

Living Room: Spacious lounge with lovely outlook, 2 comfortable 3-4 seater sofas and two other chairs. A small wood stove and a two days wood supply (more available on request)
WiFi, TV Humax 'smart' recorder that can access iPlayer & Netflix etc,
A beautiful room with exposed stone wall and beams that is very relaxing.

The corridor leading to the bedrooms and main shower room/ loo is pleasantly wide as befits the space.

Towels and linen; Laundered, quality cotton sheets, duvet covers, and towels are provided at the start of your stay, and changed weekly for longer stays. Hand soaps and shampoo are also provided.

Cleaning; The property is cleaned prior to your arrival, and weekly, with a linen change, for longer stays.

Amenities/Facilities: ceramic hob, electric oven, fridge/freezer, microwave, dishwasher, washing machine, drying rack, iron & ironing board, TV with an associated "smart" Humax hard drive programmable recorder, compact HiFi that you can easily connect your phone or ipod to with a provided cable, a Bluetooth speaker and internet access ( the WiFi speed is a healthy 20 meg), comfortable underfloor central heating, board games, books, CD's & DVD's. I have been a farmer for most of my working life, but a few years ago I started holiday letting properties in Bath, and now on the farm in Wales too - both are such great places to visit and stay.

I enjoy participating in a few sports, and also like a bit of culture, and comfort, and that's what we try to provide for our guests!

Why they chose this property

It is a wonderful quiet and peaceful place only 10 mins from the nearest town
