Disingenuous business department cast shadow over stay
Within an hour of arriving there was flooding from the apartment above. We worked to capture the water in pots from the kitchen and let Genteel Homes know immediately. We spent the evening in the apartment to let in staff and and a repair technician. We were told that Genteel Homes had found an apartment to move us to and we agreed to move the next day. The next morning the flooding was worse and we all had our clothes and shoes get wet with dirty water as we tried to prevent damage to the apartment by bailing the pots as the water poured from the ceiling. When we got to the new apartment I was told that we would receive 20% off of our bill for our inconvenience. I mentioned to the staff member that this did not seem correct as the new apartment was not nearly as nice as the one we had rented and that I would only like to pay for the advertised cost of the new apartment and be credited for the wet night we had spent. After a few days of back and forth with the business office, I was sent an email that made me furious. I was told that the two apartments were of equal quality and cost and that they would not refund an amount of money that I requested. The apartment we were moved to was listed on VRBO for 40 Euros less per night and rightly so. It was 30% smaller, had inadequate dining and living room seating for our party, had much smaller bedrooms with cramped bathrooms that didn't even include a shelf in the shower to hold soap and shampoo. The disingenuous nature of the email and the outright lie regarding the likeness between the two apartments and the prices means that I will never rent from Genteel Homes again. Save yourself the frustration of working with dishonest people and find a different apartment to rent.
