A 2 bedroom, 4 person cosy country cottage for holiday let.

La Vieille Longère is an ancient Norman long-house, dating back to the early 1600's, situated in a tranquil hamlet of three stone- built houses.

The Gite forms part of the long-house and is the most recent addition, dating from about 1770 and was used as a 'Maison du Tisserand' where traditional lace was once made.

Located in the heart of what is known as La Suisse Normande, La Vieille Longère provides high quality accommodation from which to base your holiday in this beautiful part of France

Restored by the Owners in 2011, the Gite offers cosy and beautifully decorated accommodation for four people in two bedrooms, one a large double with exposed beams, the other a twin room, both sharing a bathroom equipped with a powerful shower.

The rooms are all centrally heated in colder weather but there is a stunning Esse Ironheart woodburning stove with an oven and hotplates for those who wish to use it.

Just over an hour from the ferry port of Caen Ouistreham,The Suisse Normande is extremely convenient for visits to the Normandy D-Day beaches, the world heritage site of Mont St Michel and of course for walking or cycling through the stunning countryside.

There is canoeing and pedalo hire on the nearby River Orne, paragliding and horse riding. For those fit enough to try out the hills around the area,we have 4 decent bikes that can be loaned out.

The Suisse Normande is an area of especial beauty, rolling hills, deep valleys, both white water and slow moving rivers, and traditional bocages ( small fields surrounded by high hedges). It is the home of fabulous cheeses, cider, and poiré.

Idéal pour une escapade dans la nature

Des hotes aimables et discret. Situé en pleine nature avec des vus magnifiques. De bons lits et un équipement simple, mais tout y est! Nous avons passé une semaine très reposante. Merci Lesley et Nick Betty & Alexander

Zwei sehr schöne Wochen in der normannischen Schweiz

Das Ferienhaus entspricht vollständig der Beschreibung. Sehr ruhig am Ortsrand an einer weitgehend unbefahrenen Straße gelegen. Der Garten ist sehr schön, mit Essplatz, Liegestühlen und Spielwiese (z.B. Badminton). Die Gegend rund um das Haus bietet Gelegenheit für schöne Radausflüge, allerdings erfordern die Höhenunterschiede im Gelände einige Kondition. Die Holwege zwischen den Feldern sind sehr eindrucksvoll und können als Singletrails mit dem Fahrrad (am besten Mountenbike) durchfahren oder zu Fuß durchwandert werden. Einige Sehenswürdigkeiten sind in der Nähe erreichbar (Falaise (Burg & Stadt), Chateau Canon (Garten), Carrouge (Wasserschloss)). Die Küstenorte sind relativ weit weg. Die Vermieter sind sehr nett und hilfsbereit. Wir konnten frischen Salat und Eier direkt von den Vermietern kaufen. Insgesamt zwei sehr schöne Ferienwochen.

Ein wunderschöner Ort

Ein großartiger Ort, sich zu erholen und das Leben zu genießen. Das Haus ist außerordentlich schön gelegen und ebenso liebevoll eingerichtet; dazu ein herrlicher Garten. Abgerundet wird das Ganze durch die herzlichen und nie um einen Tipp verlegenen Gastgeber, wenn es darum geht, schöne Orte, gutes Essen und die kleinen oder großen Geschichten in der Normandie zu entdecken und zu erfahren. Gerne kommen wir wieder.

Cosy Cottage

We had a great stay in this lovely cottage near Segrie-Fontaine. Everything was tip top in order and Nick and Leslie made us feel very welcome. It’s also a great starting point for hiking in the area.

Traumhaft! Fabulous!

Nick und Lesley haben uns so herzlich empfangen in ihrem wunderschönen kleinen Häuschen, in dem man am liebsten ab sofort für immer wohnen würde. Sie haben uns alles gezeigt, hatten schon kleine Köstlichkeiten vorbereitet und hatten immer wunderbare Tipps für uns um die Gegend zu erkunden. Sie wissen beide absolut worauf es ankommt in einem Urlaub und ihnen ist es sehr wichtig, dass man sich wohl fühlt und sich gut erholt. Wir waren sehr traurig, fahren zu müssen und freuen uns schon auf das nächste Mal! Vielen Dank!! Nick and Lesley welcomed us in such a nice way, showed us around and also had some delicious things for us in the fridge. Their house is so beautiful, that we instantly felt like it was our new home. Both of them had really good tips for exploring the area. They absolutely know what matters for having a really good vacation and it is important to them, that you recover and feel comfortable. We were really sad to leave this beautiful place and cannot wait to come back! Thank you!!

Urlaub im Paradies!

Wir haben zwei ganz tolle Wochen in diesem wunderschönen Anwesen verbracht. Wir wurden herzlichst von den beiden liebenswerten Gastgebern Lesley und Nick empfangen und fühlten uns sofort wie zu Hause. Das historische Steinhaus ist äußerst liebe-, geschmackvoll und komfortabel eingerichtet, es fehlt an wirklich gar nichts! Der Garten ist auch ein Traum - es läßt sich schlecht in Worte fassen, wie wohl wir uns gefühlt haben! Die Umgebung ist ebenfalls sehr reizvoll: egal, ob Natur oder Kultur, es ist von allem mehr als reichlich vorhanden und tolle Tipps, was alles zu entdecken ist, bekamen wir auch. Der Abschied sowohl von Haus und Garten als auch von den Gastgebern fiel uns sehr schwer!!!

Perfekter Erholungsurlaub mit Kindern!

Wir haben in Ségrie Fontaine bei Nick & Lesley einen perfekten Urlaub mit unseren zwei kleinen Kindern erleben dürfen. "Ma Vieille Longere" ist eine sehr schön eingerichtete gemütliche Landbauwohnung. Das Ambiente war sehr gut, ruhige Lage, sehr schöner grosser Garten und eine gute Lage für tägliche Ausflüge. Ich habe unsere kleine Tochter gefragt wie unser Urlaub war und sie hat gesagt, dass sie hier bleiben will! Kinder lügen nicht :-). Danke Nick & Lesley für den netten Empfang, den vielen guten Ratschlägen für unsere Ausflüge und für eine erholsame Woche! Mit freundlichen Grüssen, Robert und Annelies

La Petite Cremerie

Un mini gîte au coeur d'une campagne qui vous charme instantanément. Ma soeur et moi avions besoin d'un endroit calme pour nous ressourcer, loin du tumulte de la ville et de nos vies agitées. Nous l'avons trouvé grâce au logement de Lesley et Nick. Merci pour votre accueil, pour vos conseils, pour le soin que vous prenez dans l'entretien de ce cocon. Tout y était : une salle de bains fonctionnelle, une cuisine agréable et conviviale, et surtout un coin nuit hyper confortable et accueillant. We couldn't recommend this gite highly enough!

We couldn't recommend this gite highly enough! It's in a beautiful and quiet area in the most gorgeous countryside, but still with everything you need close by. There's a little shop a lovely walk away which sells delicious fresh bread and fresh croissants, and restaurants, bars and bigger shops are easily accessible by car. The gite itself is small but absolutely perfectly formed, it has everything you need and is cosy and comfortable. The gardens are gorgeous, perfect for BBQs (we had multiple - and can highly recommend the butchers in the local village). Lesley and Nick are the perfect hosts, they were on hand for when we needed information about the area and to restock us with delicious homemade goods (Lesley's homemade jam is delicious), but otherwise left us to our own devices. We can't wait to go back! Thanks Lesley and Nick for the perfect holiday in Normandy. Helen ( London) August 2016

Tout était parfait dans La Cremerie !!!

We loved our stay

After our short stay in September 2015 we were once again in Segrie-Fontaine and also once more we loved it. Nick and Lesley are very kind and helpful and the gite was fine and clean. The onlt set-back was the weather in the early part of June but that is to be expected in Normandy ! In short, we loved our stay. B & T from The Netherlands

Wonderful week in Suisse Normandy

We had a fab week here this year. The gite is beautiful, so well equipped, comfy and a real home from home. It was so peaceful that we struggled to wake up in the mornings (the addition of two teenagers didn't help either!). There is just nothing to disturb you. Nick and Lesley were the perfect hosts, going above and beyond to make our stay so very enjoyable. Canoeing down the Orne was a real adventure, and the Tree Top Park in Roche d'Oetre was just brilliant - much more varied tasks than Go Ape in the UK and challenging to say the least. We spent four and a half hours there and still didn't complete the course! The Normandy Beaches are also well worth going to even if you're not into the history behind them (but you can't help but be moved when you see them, especially at Arromanches where evidence of the landings are so very obvious to see). All in all a fabulous week, one of the best cottages we've stayed in. Thank you both so very much.

Coup de coeur!

Coup de coeur pour ce charmant gîte très accueillant, décoré avec beaucoup de goût (chaque objet semble avoir son histoire, chiné lors d'une brocante, choisi avec attention), chaleureux, cosy, typique (et aussi fonctionnel et connecté) et son très joli jardin , propice à la détente et au calme, et entrenu avec beaucoup de soin... La gentillesse et les attentions de Nick et Lesley, leurs conseils avisés, le soin mis à faire en sorte que nous nous sentions comme chez nous, ont rendu le séjour encore plus agréable et grandement contribué à donner à ce lieu son "petit supplément d'âme" qui fait toute la différence! Dans un beau secrétaire sont mis à disposition de nombreux documents autour de la région, et il serait impardonnable de ne pas goûter les délicieuses confitures cuisinées par Lesley! Un endroit idéal pour se poser, se reposer, et profiter de grandes promenades dans les alentours...

Beautiful Gite in beautiful surroundings

A beautiful Gite, spotlessly clean with everything you could possibly need available. The bedrooms are light and airy and bigger then you might think. The lounge/dining is roomy and cosy especially on the cold rainy nights. We lit the Aga one evening and it was so warm very quickly. Lesley and Nick are lovely friendly hosts and provide loads of information about the area, what to visit and where to eat. We loved the rural location in the heart of Normandy and home from home feeling staying here gave us and will definitely stay here again.

Gite idéal pour découvrir la Suisse normande !

Accueil très chaleureux. Nick et Lesley sont à la fois très disponibles et discrets. Le gîte a été rénové avec goût, il n'y manque rien. C'est un endroit idéal pour tous ceux qui aiment la campagne, les randonnées, le VTT (les circuits sont bien balisés), le repos... (à noter, la literie est très confortable). Nous avons passé un très bon séjour en Suisse Normande sous le soleil.

Wij hebben heerlijk genoten bij Lesley en Nick

Wij hebben heerlijk genoten bij Lesley en Nick van onze eerste vakantie met onze dochter 9 maanden jong. Voorafgaand aan onze komst was het email verkeer met Lesley al erg prettig. Het "stenen huisje" was exact zoals de mooie foto's deden vermoeden. 'S avonds hebben we genoten van de heerlijke haard en de comfortabele bank. De keuken was erg goed uitgerust en het hele huisje was heerlijk schoon! De tuin was prachtig, groot en goed onderhouden. We hebben genoten van de verse groentes uit de tuin en zelfgemaakte jam's van Lesley. De omgeving is prachtig en je kan er fijn wandelen. Om de kunnen genieten van restaurants of winkels moet je wel een stukje rijden, maar Nick en Lesley kunnen je hier uitstekend over inlichten! Wij komen graag nog een keer terug om te genieten van de rust en frisse lucht!
