The home appears just as pictured. It is a lovely home with tasteful midcentury design and many elements that nurture a sense of whimsical inspiration. The aesthetic touches and appointments are thoughtful and consistent.
The view was beautiful along with the home. Such a fun stay. The roads were very rocky but the host was helpful in her clear directions. Would just keep in mind if you have a small or low car.
Smooth floors, thorough penta- and hexa-gon theme, lots of reference/browsing material on Palm Springs/mid-century modern design & decor. We saw birds, chipmunks, bunnies, and a coyote from all the plentiful windows! Probably best to arrive in daylight to travel the dirt road, but her directions are excellent and accurate, and if you pay attention and drive slowly (say, 5 mph, like you should over any dirt road) you and your car will be fine. Fun place, helpful host!
Cool house and property, exactly as depicted in pictures. Super clean. We didn’t cook, but all the amenities are available. Nice outside seating area, especially in the evenings when it’s lit up. Would’ve liked an en suite for the master. Others in party would’ve enjoyed bedroom televisions and wi-if connector in kitchen area. However, wi-if fine in the dome. It is not far from a store or Palm Springs. The road is worse than we imagined, but as long as you drive very slow and cautiously, it is manageable and was worth the experience. As I said, an interesting and fun-a stay you’re sure to not forget!
had a great time staying here! overall everything from the location and amazing views to everything that was provided at the home was great. the views definitely worth coming here, with snow capped mountains and windmills surrounding the home. couple things to note, the host is incredibly communicative if you need any help she will respond promptly, and since she is a local resident she is close by in case of anything. The only issue we had was with the stove so if you plan on cooking while you’re here it is a little finicky. but besides that we had a great time. would love to come back again!
The Dome Home was a magical escape from the hustle and bustle of every day life! Talk about getting away from it all! We had an amazing time being out in the middle of the desert with the windmills and the desert wildlife. The Dome Home was the perfect get away to escape from reality for awhile. The outdoors came in and the views were magnificent from every room in the home. The road leading to the home was a little bumpy and prepare to be off the beaten path for sure. It is very remote but that it was made it so relaxing and quiet in such a majestic setting. If you really want to get away from it all and enjoy quiet and solitude with spectacular views and glimpses of the many desert animals in their beautiful habitat, then you must experience the Dome Home!
I would highly recommend this property for anyone looking to stay around Joshua Tree. A couple friends and I stayed for New Years Eve and had a wonderful time. The house is beautiful with great views and everything was super clean and comfortable. It was nice and secluded and afforded us a lot of privacy from neighbors. About a 30 minute drive to get into actual Joshua Tree.
My partner and I spent Christmas at the Dome Home. It’s conveniently located a short drive to downtown Palm Springs and Joshua Tree, but still has the quiet and seclusion for an escape from the city. Surrounded by windmills and mountains, this architectural beauty with fun decor was perfect for us as professional designers, and for anyone who is an appreciator of the arts. Spectacular windows, fun plants, great kitchen, fire pit, jacuzzi and outdoor seating. Absolutely loved it & didn’t want to leave :D
This truly unique Buckminster Fuller dome home for a couple nights escape to the desert will leave you in awe of the giant windmill farm and road runners that can be viewed from the property. For something different, but not for everyone.
My wife and I had a great stay -- Our hostess, Pavlina, was communicative and helpful. The property was clean and well maintained. The calm was unlike any place we've stayed before. The windmills provided a meditative landscape at the end of the day exploring Palm Springs and Joshua Tree. Would definitely recommend!
Wonderful time with our family in a great place! Mesmerizing views and location.
Loved it! And the property manager pavlina is awesome. Super responsive and great tips for the area!

Luxury in the desert
The property is in the middle of the desert, about 25 minutes away from Downtown Palm Springs. It was the perfect little getaway for me and my team after a month long project. It was windier than expected! Being outside was nearly impossible for you might get blown away. But, being inside, cooking in the kitchen, and enjoying the view was really great. I had a nice time and so did my team. Thanks!

Best night ever!
We recently stayed for only one night and regret not being able to stay longer! This house is amazing! If you appreciate architecture, design, and art then this place is for you! Everything was perfect from check in to check out. The house is well stocked with linens, kitchen essentials, and supplies. The home itself has plenty of space to roam and wander inside and outside. The dirt road was a slightly challenging for smaller cars, so plan ahead. Also the neighborhood is very windy and gusty. We will definitely plan to come back!

Peaceful, stylish desert getaway!
We loved our week at Pavlina's place. Even though it is only about 20 minutes drive to downtown Palm Springs, we felt like we had our own private getaway. The views from every window are spectacular - the photos do not do it justice. You can sit in the living room and see the entirety of Mount San Jacinto through the large windows from the couch! The morning light on the mountains while enjoying our coffee was phenomenal - what a great way to start every day. It is a very short drive to the Mission Creek preserve where we went for a nice walk a few times. Very nearby there is also a great Mexican place - Jalisco restaurant which shares the building with Jalisco Tires, no joke - good, authentic, inexpensive Mexican food. Also the date shakes at Windmill Market - a tiny market at the corner of Indian Canyon Rd and Dillon Rd also delicious. It is close enough to be able to go into town easily but then at the end of the day, the house is super quiet, comfortable and so relaxing. Enjoying the hot tub at the end of the day was a perfect end to a usually busy day.
There are lots of great things to do within a relatively short distance aside from the obvious trips to Palm Springs. We went to the BNP paribas open - about 30 minutes drive. We were lucky to be there during a crazy desert superbloom which was amazing - wildflowers everywhere! There is also the DesertX art festival this year - also very interesting and fun - installations all over the valley.
The house is well stocked - we made several meals - everything you need for simple meal prep.
Finally, the style of the house is fantastic. It is very light and open with great views everywhere (have I already mentioned that?)! Everything is very clean and comfortable. We could easily have spent another week (or more) there!
Do be aware that the road to the house is a little rough - nothing that requires 4 wheel drive or anything, just pay attention and drive slowly. Also, when you first arrive, pay close attention to the signs. Although it is the 3rd street from Dillon, street is a loose term. The first two "streets" are almost not recognizable as honest to goodness roads. Smoke Tree Rd is the first recognizable street you will see from the west. From the east the other streets are much more developed. This is part of the charm of the place - there are only a handful of people who live in this area so there is almost no traffic save the jackrabbits! Definitely recommend it!

We really enjoyed our stay
We stayed here for 3 nights while attending the tennis tournament and really enjoyed it. The house is comfortable and the owners have done a great job with the furnishings.. Pavlina was very responsive to any issues or questions that we had and was a pleasure to work with. The property has a beautiful view of the mountains from the living room but you do have to be ok with the surrounding wind farm.

Beautifully designed house
This is a very beautifully designed house with interesting retro furniture.
Before I arrived I was unsure how I would feel about the windmills.
I loved them! They make a very interesting view. There is something soothing about watching them turn and turn and turn.
About Pavlina: communication was great from the start.
When I arrived the tv was not working and Pavlina and her husband spent two hours of their time setting it right again with help from their cable company.
I really felt like a valued guest.

Amazing and Majestic Spot!
Wow. What an amazing and majestic spot!
Nestled among windmills and the backdrop of the mountains, this gorgeous house is located off a dirt road with plenty of privacy. Modern furnishings and decor made the home comfortable and interesting. Our favorite parts of the property were the stunning views, super cool loft with bed and a bath! upstairs, and layout that allowed for various areas for entertainment. We really appreciated the details that went in to making sure we had the amenities needed, down to the high quality shampoo and conditioner in the showers (my wife and I loved this stuff!).
Owner communication was great, above and beyond to help us make the most of our time.
We would recommend the location to others, and would note that this is on a dirt road, so drive carefully!

Great house, beautiful location!
My group of 6 really enjoyed our stay at Pavlina's. The house is absolutely amazing and just as breathtaking as all of the pictures. The location is gorgeous. It feels both isolated, but still convenient to amenities in town. Pavlina was a great communicator and provided us with all of the information we needed. I would highly recommend this rental to anyone!

Welcome to our Holiday and Weekend House! We fell in love with the Dome House and surrounding area more than a year ago and since then spent almost every weekend redesigning and renovating every aspect of it. We opened up the space by demolishing walls, eliminated posts by adding beams, added many windows and completely remodeled every room. As a Licensed Architect I truly enjoy every aspect of design and construction, renovating is mine and my husband’s hobby. We lovingly renovated this amazing house in our spare time. We are happy to share with you our favorite place in the world. We truly love being here, you will too.
