This amazing ski chalet is just steps from the Road Runner Trail, redecorated & refurnished and it's ready for you to rent! Our reviews say it all! Just off Barker Mountain Road, it is perfectly located on the mountain! Located in Viking Village, this unique location is virtually unparalleled at Sunday River Resort if you are looking for a rental ski home. Park your car when you arrive and leave it for your entire stay! Check out the location map! Check out the resort map for Walter's Way and you'll see why this is “THE” spot on the mountain!!
The entire chalet has sleeping for up to 14-16 MAX, up to 10 adults! Your rental include full use of the hot tub, grill, laundry room with washer and dryer, boot dryer and outside deck with copious furniture.
There is parking for up to six cars. We encourage you to contact the owners directly to discuss any rental options and ideas that you may have. Together, Let’s make it work for you, your family, and your friends to have a fantastic time at Sunday River!
Then there is SUMMER!!!!! Great location for summertime activities! Amazing Property

This house was incredible! Basically ski in/out with access to the roadrunner trail. The house was well stocked with plenty of space to relax and convene with friends and family. The bedding was impressively comfortable and we really enjoyed the hot tub. Dave was super hospitable, responsive and truly went out of his way to make sure our trip was enjoyable. We will be back!

Family ski vacation

Our family had a wonderful stay at Happy Trails. The owners were extremely accommodating and responded within minutes to all of our questions!!! The wilderness vibe, log furniture and bunk beds were a huge hit with the youngsters. The welcome basket of treats, the fireplace, the hot tub, the boot warmers and the proximity to the ski slope were among the many extras that made our stay at this meticulously clean home such a pleasure! We instantly felt at home at Happy Trails and highly recommend a stay here for anyone looking for ski-on, ski-off accommodations.

Fantastic Place!

This house is perfectly laid out and located for a great family ski trip. No lugging skis back and forth from the parking lot when the trail is a few steps away… what a treat! We were a group of 3 families with 9 kids ranging in age from 5-15. Every one of us was comfy and cozy all weekend. The house was very well stocked and the bed was one of the most comfortable I have ever slept in! Owner was fantastic. We texted about fun things to do in the area, etc. He was always available. Hot tub was put to good use. Plenty of towels for everyone! Thank you so much Dave and Linda! Can’t wait to go back.

Sunday River Spring Skiing

David was a great host and the house is very well appointed and very much loved. We spent a weekend here with extended family and had a great time. The location of the house can’t be beat and I hope to stay here again.

Ski vacation

We booked David's house for a weekend ski getaway with some old friends and it was the perfect place to stay. David was so accommodating and made the stay great! Location was perfect as it was only a short walk to get right on the trail. I will definitely be booking again

Awesome family Christmas ski vacation.

We had an amazing time at Happy Trails. The house was perfect and had plenty of room for all to spread out. The hot tub after a day in the slopes was welcomed by all! We’ll be back again for sure!

Amazing Ski Getaway

Had a lovely stay at Happy Trails with a group of about 10 friends for a long weekend of skiing. The house is fantastic - very spacious and can fit far more than 10 adults. Kitchen is well stocked with everything you could need. The hot tub was a lovely way to end each long day of skiing. Plenty of towels provided. Loved the amount of games floating around the house as well - they were put to good use! The house is located just a short walk away from Roadrunner trail - took no more than 3min to walk around the corner to the entry point. The bottom floor has a bedroom with a full sized bed and 2 twin bunkbeds. Futon is outside that bottom bedroom. 2nd floor has 2x rooms both with 2 sets of bunkbeds (4 beds in each room). The top floor has a small room with 1x set of twin bunks and a full/queen master bedroom. Dave was an amazing host. As soon as we arrived he walked me through the house over the phone and was available if any questions arose. He let us check in way earlier than we anticipated which allowed a few of us to get an extra half day of skiing in - absolute hero. Would stay here again in a heartbeat!

Beautiful home!

Rented this gorgeous cabin for a wedding, stuffed 20 people inside, and it couldn't have gone better! Was close enough to the hotel to get put on the shuttle route and housed us all for two beautiful days. The hot tub is clutch, the kitchens and bathrooms we're spotless, and we grilled and had the fire pit going both days. Thank you so much David & Linda!

Great Holiday Week Stay

We had a great stay at Happy Trails in the week leading up to and over New Years! The area had been hit hard with a storm the week prior, but the mountain did a great job making the best out it. Road Runner was open and we were able to ski in-ski out no problem. This was great as we had 9 kids in the 7-13yr old age range. Dave was great to communicate with during our stay as well as the week leading up (given the crazy storm that had hit). The house is is updated and well stocked with everything you need. We'll be back again soon as we loved the home and that area of the mountain!

Here's to Happy Trails!

Wonderful stay at this on mountain house! The house came with every amenity possible, including an incredible ice making machine that provided endless, perfect ice! The home owners were incredibly pleasant and accommodating. The fireplace needed some attention during our stay and David had a service person out immediately to fix. Thank you so much for letting us enjoy the Happy Trails house! We'd love to come back!

Perfect location, great property, owner was top notch host!

Guys trip for a end of season shred. More then enough room and beds for 10 adults. The room on the lower level to gear up for the day is clutch. Easy ski on, ski off. Shuttle to take you to the nightlife action. Large great room or back deck for all to hang after the trails and enjoy some cocktails and dinner. Owner David is great. Easy to contact and makes the rental process simple. We will definitely be returning next year!

Ski trip - Owner was great and super responsive, house was nice and great location!

Our first stay at Sunday River! We stayed here with 6 adults, 5 teenagers, and 4 young ones. It was an ideal location because we could walk to the Roadrunner trail to ski to the mountain without having to drive - the teenagers loved that. We did drive them over to the mountain for Night Skiing to South Ridge - which is about a 3 minute drive from the house. The hot tub was great, the house was nice and there were lots of beds. The owner was great - was very responsive and in constant contact to make sure we had everything we needed. Very enjoyable and tiring stay!

Happy Trails

Awesome house in a great location. Easy ski-on/off access to Roadrunner Trail. Well-stocked kitchen. Great dining area for a large crowd. Plenty of beds and towels. Outdoor hot tub with heated mats on the deck! We even grilled one night! Dave was fantastic as a host. Kept us well-informed and responded quickly to any questions that I had. One for the books!

We had the absolute best time at Happy Trails! The house has an awesome layout for multiple families and really has everything you need! We were very grateful for the boot/glove warmers as our trip did see a few 50 degree days on the mountain so it was a little slushy. The house is walkable even for a 3 year old in ski boots to the roadrunner and off we went! David was very helpful through out our stay and was incredibly accommodating with any question or request! Beds are super comfy and the radiant floor heating kept things at the perfect temperature through out our stay of 20-50 degree weather conditions. one thing I’d say would be helpful to know is bottom floor has a queen & two double sized bunk beds plus enough room for a pack and play! Highly recommend & thank you to the owners for sharing their place … true gem!

David and Linda Murphy purchased this amazing ski chalet in the spring of 2016. Sunday River has always been very special to us and by purchasing this home it afforded us an opportunity to spend more time on the mountain and share our passion with others!

Why they chose this property

LOCATION LOCATION LOCATION as they say, It is true in commercial real estate and it is definitely true in a ski home!! Not only is this ski chalet absolutely beautiful, comfortable and well decorated… it is located just steps away from the Road Runner Trail. I, David, like to get out for first tracks and ski nearly all day. Linda likes to tinker around a bit and go out and do a few runs and then stop in for a cup of tea back at the house. We could never accomplish this if we were not on mountain. One of the biggest benefits of being on mountain is that there is no more stress of loading the car, parking, schlepping gear, trying to accommodate everyone's individual schedule and desires. Everybody comes and goes as they please all day long.
Then, comes another wonderful attribute of this location and home, the après ski scene! The lodges are all within walking distance and there are copious shuttles. Who wants to worry about driving after a few cocktails? Walk to the fireworks, Southridge, Barker, White Cap or take the shuttle. Enjoy a refreshing hot tub out off the deck anytime of day and enjoy cooking up some delicious food on the grill. Of course, we have boot dryers and a full laundry room with washer and dryer available! PLEASE NOTE: We are very flexible to put together some sort of package that may suit all of our schedules so please don't hesitate to ask!
