When the weather is nice, head out to the grassy community courtyard to eat al fresco, take in views of waves crashing against the shore, and let the kids run and play. If your dogs do join in for the getaway, please know there is a nightly pet fee.

When night falls, retreat to any of the three cozy bedrooms for a good night's sleep. One has a queen-size bed and set of twin bunk beds, another has a single queen-size bed, and the last two feature plush king-size beds. This home also has two full bathrooms and a washer and dryer for convenience.

Cute cozy space

This was the perfect spot for our getaway weekend trip. It was a good space for everyone to be in the living room together and enough bedrooms for people to sleep in. The beach was also walking distance with an amazing view. Would book again!

Beautiful view

Loved the rental, the view, the cleanliness. The only thing was that when renting believed it was a home (triple layer) however more like a motel.

Nice place

We enjoyed our stay although the water/ice in the fridge didn't work. The wifi didn't work. No place to wash shoes/feet off outside. Amazing view but the walk to the beach was a bit much for the older guests in my family.

Run down

This property is really run down. The floors were installed weird where the boards don’t line up. Tv and cords handing from the wall looked unstable. Holes in the walls. We didn’t have any hot water for showers and there was no blow dryer. You could every word and movement from the people upstairs and it kept us up all night long

Housekeeping did a good job however there were many things that needed to be repaired in the room.

Maintenance is severely lacking inside and outside. Many safety hazards outside. Our guest fell off an outside landing that was not railed off and remains in the hospital. One maintenance person is clearly not enough for the number of units to oversee.

Rooms are very plain--little decor. TV can only be viewed from an uncomfortable futon. There was a lot of room; each kid got their own bedroom! Toilet paper holder in bathroom fell off 5 minutes after arrival. Outside, the handrail going up the stairs is broken. Walking from the parking lot towards the downward staircase at night, I almost broke my neck! There is a step up than cannot be seen in the dark. It need to be painted yellow, or an outside light installed. I am an old hobbley legged lady!

Where to begin! *DO NOT STAY HERE*

For the last year, our family has stayed home, fearing to go anywhere in case we should get COVID or spread it, unknowingly. In fact. This was our first venture out, and goodness we were so excited. With my husbands birthday coming up, I began researching and reading through your site, and I felt confident that we could leave our home and take a break from the craziness of the world and step into the cleanest space possible. I knew we could rest easy knowing there was nothing to fear as everything would be beyond clean and disinfected. Especially now that we live in a world where we’ve all had to increase our cleaning and disinfecting game, I was so sure our little get away would be worry free. That all changed the moment we walked into our room in the Whale lower level - upon arrival we quickly realized that just wasn’t the case. Moreover, we left a day earlier than I paid for, because of the lack of cleanliness. The final straw was our daughter finding fingernail clippings in her bed and on the floor by her bed, and we found human and dog hair everywhere - and there was brown splatters, stains and brown chunks on the wall - the place was filthy!! While I know it’s hard to believe, we are STILL in the midst of a global pandemic. And while your site claimed that you’ve stepped up the cleaning efforts, the room we stayed in was beyond unsanitary. It was the complete opposite. After noticing food splatters on the floor, and being grossed out, I had to hand mop the floors, and clean the baseboards, and I wiped down all the touch points down with disinfectant wipes. I’m sure it will come as no surprise to know that everything I wiped down was inevitably dirty. The towel was black/brown from the filth I mopped up. Not only was there zero cleanliness or sanitation efforts made, the level of electrical issues was unnerving: The lighting in one of the rooms was literally a strobe effect - no one could stay in their because the lighting was shorting out. Not to mention the numerous broken face plates on the electrical plugins. If our kids were smaller they’d likely have electrocuted themselves. For claiming safety was a top priority, our place was missing 2 smoke alarms and there was no fire extinguisher in sight. Another fun feature was the cable box being taped to the bottom of the TV, the TV which was wall mounted. We kept waiting for it to fall off. Speaking of electrical issues, as we went to make coffee, the pot shut off mid-brew, and we had to ask an employee to flip the breaker back on as the electricity on the wall where the coffee pot was plugged in to, went out. So the lights, the heater and the electrical plug ins all stopped working. In the instructions for checking out, it mentions to run the dishes before we leave yet there’s no dishwashing tablets/dishwashing soap? How can you clean and sanitize dishes with no soap? Folks are eating off of the utensils and dishes, and with COVID, you’d think you’d at least leave a few Cascade dishwasher tablets. But no. For the price we paid for two nights, we could have instead stayed at a safe, clean and well appointed hotel suite on the beach. But I trusted the words on your site. In trusting your sites promise to provide a clean place to stay, I feel foolish for having spent so much money as the return on that investment found us leaving a day early due to lack of cleanliness, sanitation, and zero safety precautions/measures being followed or made. How can you ensure anyone’s safety when you can’t even mop the floors? If we had babies who crawled, I’d be horrified. Needless to say we are beyond disappointed and have no plans to return. From the lack of cleanliness, and the long list of electrical, safety and health violations especially the lack of follo...

Not worth wasting your money on

We were told check in was extended to 6pm, which having been a housekeeper for many years, I understood due to short staffing. But when we checked in, the property was hard to find as directions mentioned nothing about going down some side steps that are hidden on the side of the building. The year ago people complained about broken outlet coverings doesn’t seemed to have been remedied. The bunk beds that my kids were going to sleep in had a broken outlet covering right by their feet, a nice hazard. The floor boards weren’t pushed together all the way so if you go barefoot your feet get pinched. Everything was covered in dust, I even emailed videos and pictures to the email support listed and have yet to get a reply. A man came and walked through to see the problems, and called me a liar and demanded to see my phone to prove I was told to check in at 6pm and the uncleanliness. There’s mold in the window tracks, piles of sand in the dryer, soap scum molding in the tile of the shower, pee stains on the bottom of the hallways toilet, moldy coffee grounds from previous occupants, the neighbors upstairs had kids running and stomping back and forth until 12am keeping all of us up. The king bed also has been severely damaged by some previous occupants and slopes inward when you lay on it. Mattresses are those super thin metal coil beds that squeak when you roll over. Disappointed I spent over 700 on this place.

Dog Park City & View, Noisy Neighbors

Not such a good experience, our unit has a grassy area in front with a view of the water, but people are using it as a dog relief area and a constant stream of people letting their dogs relief themselves ealer morning to late night right outside our room. If you like looking at that and people disturbing you and blocking’s your view all day, then this place is for you. Secondly, the middle whale has a herd of elephants are some thing upstairs with constant stomping all day and night long. They had a dog also running around and barking. We would have left, but had nowhere else to go. For the money including all of the service fees, it’s definitely not up to par. Perhaps another room would have been better, but they Should be forthright about what you are getting.

Bring supplies

Had to unload the dishwasher when we arrived, no more soap. Spaghetti noodles dumped on floor from who knows when. Nice view from courtyard. 2 rolls of TP. Bring your own 4 cup coffee filters. Picnic table is ready to collapse. No window/door screens, well one out of 3. Sounds like the rule is supply minimal TP and dishwasher pods, lots of dog waste bags!

Small space for many people

The location is wonderful. However, if you are renting only one of the levels beware of the size. While it might be able to sleep 10+ there is not seating for this many people, there was only a futon as living room space, and there were not enough dishes to serve the number of people the space says it accommodates. But we could look out over the ocean for hours and be on the beach in just a short, if steep, walk.

Horrible Home with no amenities

If i could give half or quarter star I would give this house that rating. We were a group of 12 people that stayed for 3 nights. We have been booking vacation homes through AirBnB and Vacasa for the last several years and by far this is the worst house one could vacation in. Below are the list of things that will give you some insight into our experience: - Although this home says stays 12, it is meant of a max of 8 people. - There's no living room at all. Just a couch in the kitche/dining room. - Two bedrooms have no windows that makes the occupants claustrophobic. - The shower has room temp water that just doesn't heat up. - If you turn the exhaust on in the bathroom, it turns into a furnace causing hot air filling the room all of a sudden. - The second bathroom was not cleaned and the previous occupants soap was left in the sink. Imagine this in the Covid-19 situation. - Although the house stays 12 people there are only 7 dining chairs. - There were only 8 dinner plates, cups and bowls. The silverware were as good as none. We had to call the office to have additional silverware and cups/plates delivered. - Every AirBnB and vacasa homes we lived in had dishwasher detergent but not this one. So we washed the dishes by hand every day, which is no big deal. However, their check out instruction asked us to turn on the dishwasher with the dishes in, before we left. So we did as recommended although without putting in any dishwasher detergent. - Floors weren't cleaned and was dusty. Compared to all the above issues, this is negligible. All in all definitely not worth your money and so please do not book your next vacation at the Lower Whale. An utter waste of time, money and a ruined vacation.

Poor conditions

Very poorly represented. Unsafe for children. Electrical outlets broken and most not working. Dishwasher falling out of cabinet. Access is in back of building down poorly maintained stairway. Very thin walls. Can hear everything from a simple conversation to any movement by the neighbors. Forget about sleeping if upstairs people are partying and kids crying which is what happened to us. We had booked for 2 nights but left after first night due to poor conditions especially at almost $600 per night ( with all fees)

Know what your paying for

We were double booked for another unit for this property. Vacasa contacted us and upgraded our reservation to this unit. Great costumer support there. There were two of us in a 4 bedroom unit. I’m writing this review to let you know that your overpaying for this unit. Here’s my review of our upgrade: Location: great access to the beach and local shops/restaurants. WiFi: the information we received about connecting to the WiFi was wrong. It took 2 days to get back to us about a new password. We almost went the whole stay without WiFi. WiFi connection is weak. Bedrooms: good size. Nothing fancy and no closets. Beds are hard and pillows are sparse. Bathrooms: Small but functional. No baths only showers. Plenty of towels. Kitchen: Everything you need - except spices. Comfort: The only heater that worked was in the back bedroom. We found the unit to be very cold if your not in the bedroom. Couch was very uncomfortable and in an awkward position from the TV. We moved the couch to be in front of the TV. If you have more than 4 people staying, it’s going to be uncomfortable since there’s only the couch and dinning chairs to sit at. Only 1/2 of the lights worked. Noise: be prepared to hear everything the upstairs neighbors do. The front door to this unit is right outside the beach access. Other guest will be walking by frequently. Pets: very accommodating to dogs which I found nice. While we didn’t pay full price to stay here (accommodation error), I would have been very disappointed if we had. I’m writing this review to let you know that your overpaying for this unit. Unless that is if you really just want a bed to crash at night.

Overall a great weekend

Good view of ocean. Lots of towels. Liked that I was able to extend last day so we didn't have to rush so much. Odds and Ends No table knives and very few forks and spoons. No broom. Found a worker and he got me a one. One bathroom has mold that needs to be treated and painted. When the people clean up..sweep under beds ,move the furniture too, sweep by edge of stove, There aren't any signs that say what you do before you leave. I looked on line too and couldn't find anything. Overall great weekend. Thanks

Great value for the price

The view of the ocean was beautiful! The walk down to the beach was fairly easy. Nice updated unit. Beds were very hard, noisy and bouncy. I chose a foam bunk bed mattress for my sleeping space because the others would hurt my back. In order to use the couch as a sleeping space, you need a set of extra linens but we couldn’t find any :( so our 9th guest had to buy blankets to keep warm. Also, the stairs were not vaccuumed at all. They looked disgusting. Lucky we didn’t use them, but just looking at the filth kind of made me sick. There’s mold in the master bathroom ceiling. The coffee pot was equipped for only 5 cups with no available filters so we had to go buy some. For a unit that supposedly sleeps up to 10 guests- it was not stocked enough to accommodate that amount of people. It only had like 4 spoons and 6 forks so we all had to eat at two different times, second half having to eat cold food. However, this was the cheapest place we could find for the last minute reservation that was this close to the beach. All in all, it was decent. Also there is no such thing as a “quiet” area of the unit because the walls are so thin. Not their fault but take that into consideration when booking a reservation. Also not even a pasta collendar for draining noodles, or a pizza sliced for cutting pizza. The two most common easy dishes for large parties and the “fully stocked” kitchen was unable to accommodate us in many ways.

Disappointed

Place was clean, but a disappointment. When we arrived the lock box was broke and when we phone in because we couldn't get in; it seemed as if the problem had been reported but not fixed. There where no closets or hangers to hang wet coats or towels. Showers seemed nice and new but nowhere to put your soap but on the floor. :( There were some nails poking out in a door way and we asked on first day for it to be fixed, eventually used our own tools to pull them out 4 days later. I must say that the pictures were very well taken, as by looking at them I never understood that there was no living room area. Only 1 couch that seated 3 for a space that slept 12. Overall we were disappointed because we felt it was missing some very basic things. We even had to ask for a broom and dust pan.

Close to the ocean.

This place meets my needs. It has 4 rooms and 2 baths. A spacious dining room. A kitchen with cooking wares and utensils. A washer and dryer in case you need to wash your clothes. Also we have a nice view of the Pacific. The sea shore is just a walking distance. We stayed here for 4 days. I will recommend this place.

Good family time

Nice house for the price. Plenty of room for 4 kids and 5 adults (we had 2 no-shows). It was nice to have the yard right outside the door for the kids to play. Great views! We saw whales spouting and lots of fishing boats. The few shortages and problems we encountered were quickly solved by Lacy, the on-site manager.

Not the best

The beds are all very soft and springy. Extremely uncomfortable. My husband and I opted for the futon for better support. There were no rugs (other than at the front door), no blinds for privacy, no shower caddy in either of the restrooms- all of our toiletries went on the shower floor, no closets, the cable kept cutting out, wifi connection was slow. We felt like we were staying in an apartment that we couldn't afford to furnish; cold and uninviting. While the view from the inside-out was gorgeous, we were begging for privacy in the living/dining area. The place was dusty. There were shoe/dirt marks on the floor in the kitchen upon first opening the front door and large dust/debris on one of the dining room chairs. The restroom in the hallway smelled terribly like a wet, stale rag. I washed the shower curtain but the smell did not come out. The place left a lot to be desired.
