About this property

Walled Garden Mews 7 - a mews cottage that sleeps 6 guests in 2 bedrooms

Set in a secluded sunny corner, the Walled Garden Cottages are within the walls of the old Melfort Estate walled garden and approximately 500 yards from the Inner Village.

The Walled Garden has 10 “mews style” two-bedroom cottages and one two-bedroom first floor apartment with each cottage enjoying views over the beautiful gardens and overlooking Loch Melfort to the South . There are plenty of car parking spaces at the rear of the building, with car parking for visitors provided immediately outside the garden entrance. A small leisure area is situated in the centre of the building which houses a sauna and games room with table tennis, snooker and darts – there is also a small laundry, public phone and communal deep freeze.

Entrance to each cottage is at the rear of the building, through the hall which has a drying/coat storage area. Leading from the hall is the open-plan sitting room, dining area and kitchen, shower room with large walk-in shower, and the master bedroom with en-suite bathroom. Stairs lead to the mezzanine balcony/games, sleeping area and first floor twin bedroom.

Each cottage has its own private patio opening from the dining area, and onto the communal gardens.

Amazing location, cottage & staff. Could not fault it.

7 Walled Garden Mews. Fabulous location. Beautiful cottage. Very informative staff. Perfect for our puppies first holiday. Very Well stocked cottage. Everything you need for a home from home holiday. Pool, jacuzzi, sky package all available beside the main reception. Community cottage available for your use in the walled garden area. Which included snooker table, sauna and many other things for your use while you are there. Beautiful views to the sea from the dining area and lounge area. Patio doors leading out to a paved patio with table and chairs and the beautiful sea view. Amazing deal from 5pm deals and I would 100% recommend Melfort Village. Can’t wait to return...

Excellent stay. All staff very helpful. I borrowed a slow cooker- delivered to my door! Accommodation lovely. Would have rated excellent, apart from bottom tray of fridge door- loose. Gardens well-maintained. Pool very good, ambient temperature. Weather disappointing, but plenty of things to do. We really enjoyed our stay, and will return.

Great location, good accommodation, expensive electricity and brown water

Melfort Village is wonderfully located on the lochside, with lovely walks nearby. The Village has good facilities and the accomodation has lots of good features, though some of the furnishing are tired and in need of replacement. The electricity charges are excessive, and we struggled with the quality and the colour of the water. But overall a great location and we enjoyed a restful holiday week.

A really excellent holiday

This was our second stay at Melfort Village. We were made very welcome from day 1. Olwyn provided really useful suggestions for walks and days out so no time was wasted. The cotttage was first class. Very comfortable and perfect location. We will definitely return there’s lots more to see. Thank you.

Lovely cottage in beautiful location

We spent a short break here with our son's family and grandchildren and really enjoyed it - will definitely return at some future time. The cottage was clean and comfortable with contemporary décor and plenty for kids to do. The pool was fantastic and we also made use of the ping pong table and snooker rooms which are great fun to do on holiday. The on site restaurant 'Shower of Herring' was very good value with really nice food. There's plenty of sightseeing in the beautiful surroundings and we went to Isle of Seil over the Atlantic Bridge which was worth a visit with stunning views. We would have no hesitation recommending Melfort Village to friends and family.

Quiet, clean, and friendly

We completed our final two days of our ten day stay in Scotland at Melfort Village. Our stay was truly enjoyable at a very clean, quiet, and friendly facility. Well worth the short drive out of Oban!

A great experience

We had a short break at Melfort, just prior to Easter. The staff were extremely friendly and welcoming. Olwen and Margaret in particular, were informative and helpful. The standard of accommodation was lovely and comfortable, very clean and well equipped, a real home from home. The only negative was that the electricity was very expensive, we had hardly used the kitchen, mainly just the kettle and toaster so the cost must have come from the storage heaters. We were quite surprised that it cost more than £20 for 3 days! Overall this was a great experience in a wonderful location.

6/10 Okay

Too cold in winter

The location is very very good and the standard of furnishings etc is good and the price was good. It was however uncomfortably cold in the living room, despite all storage heaters and the electric fan heater being on - I think the design with high ceiling height which is open from the hall makes this space difficult to heat, anyway we ended up sitting in the living room with our coats on (a bit much when paying £10 per day for electricity). Also there could be more attention to detail - no bottle opener, no scart lead/connection to DVD player, dead insect squashed on to roller blind, light shade broken, dog mess outside the door etc. So overall I'd give it 2.5 stars out of 5. Would go back but not to walled garden.

Excellent retreat, stunning views, perfect get away

This was an extra week at Melfort as we have now been visiting Melfort for thirty years. It never disappoints. As always extremely comfortable, stunning views, staff attend to your every need immediately. There really isn't anyway else to be.... Will be back next year.

Is this the last serene location...???

We were on our way north and we were looking for a place that would take us and our dogs and the Melford Village was the only place that allowed us to stay. We found one of the most beautiful and relaxing places you can imagine. The walled Garden was everything we were looking for. Peacefullness, so much so that our dogs didn't want to leave when it was time. The morning walks through the local woods and down to the water or letting the dogs run free in the huge fenced off arena will be something we will surely remember. The surroundings of the Melford Village reminds you more of a mediterranian setting than of a Scottish Highland landscape. We will be returning that is for sure...
