About this property

Chestnut Cottage, Thornham, Norfolk

Set in the pretty coastal village of Thornham and a few steps away from the pubs/restaurants/deli's and café, this wonderful retreat sleeps six and comes with a fabulous garden and offers relaxed seaside living. Best of all you can walk to the harbour and beach too.

Stylishly furnished with coastal accents, Chestnut Cottage is a Grade II listed semi-detached flint cottage in a great location with excellent places to eat on the doorstep, making it ideal for couples wanting a larger love nest or families who are looking for a great holiday cottage for a few days, a week or longer.

Step inside and you'll discover a large welcoming sitting room with wood burning stove and a spacious well-equipped kitchen with breakfast bar and stools. The sunny conservatory to the rear of the property offers space for dining and affords lovely views out over the garden. Outside you'll find a lovely terrace with garden furniture and relaxed seating at the bottom of the fully-enclosed lawned garden. There are three beautiful and sumptuous bedrooms. All are decorated with designer wallpapers and fabrics. And there's no fighting over the bathrooms either, as both the master and bedroom two have en-suite shower rooms complete with digitally controlled showers and there is an additional bathroom which serves the twin bedroom, so perfect if there is a group of you staying. This flint cottage is both laid-back and lovely and with everything decorated in a soft palette of Farrow and Ball chalk paints and accents of colour, it is a lovely place to escape to at the end of the day or when you feel you need an injection of sea air!

Perfect location, perfect cottage

Wonderful stay in a lovely property. Lots of space for everyone to enjoy and a beautiful garden. Cottage was spotless and everything we needed for our stay was available. Cottage is located on the High Street in Thornham is just across from the lovely Thornham Deli and a short walk to the 3 great pubs. Would highly recommend this as a place to stay on the North Norfolk coast.

Lovely cottage

A good quality cottage which was well equipped with everything we needed. The conservatory was the key factor as the weather was not too good. Sitting having dinner overlooking the lovely garden more than made up for the poor weather.

Winter cosy break

The cottage is an excellent place to stay to explore the picturesque north Norfolk coast. Lovely pubs nearby for wonderful food and you can’t miss visiting The deli. Walking distance from the cottage. The cottage is finished to a very high standard, everything you need and more is catered for. Each of the three bedrooms have their own bathrooms, shower rooms. The beds were all very sumptuous and comfortable. We all enjoyed the cosy evenings by the log fire. One attraction we all enjoyed doing for all ages. Was visiting Langham Glass. We made Christmas baubles and juice glasses. Thoroughly recommend Chestnut Cottage.

A nice cottage in a good location

A nice comfortable cottage in a good location for birding. Well equiped apart from no coffee making facilities, we were surprised when we read the previous but one coment in the visitors book also mentioned this, ( does anybody read these). On arrival the key was not in the key safe but found under a brick. Parking is fine for 2 cars but requires manouvering on to the main road to swap them around. Despite the above we would consider staying again.

Well equipped and comfortable cottage

We enjoyed spending a week at Chestnut cottage. It was all immaculately clean, the sofas and beds extreamley comfortable, and the kitchen was well equipped. We loved having meals in the conservatory, we used the outdoor table and chairs when it was too hot, and there was a bench in the garden that caught the morning sun, perfect for a peaceful breakfast. We did have to move a few breakable ornaments away from the 11month baby and keep him away from the stairs. The only (small) negative was there were no doors between kitchen and upstairs landing so we didn't put away crockery when the baby was asleep in the back (double) bedroom. We would happily stay at the cottage again, the area was beautiful, there were more beaches than we had time to visit, the weather fantastic and we had lots of good food too.

A beautiful cottage in a great location.

The cottage is spacious and beautifully presented. In a great location opposite the deli and children’s playground. Walking distance to a number of good pubs. Negatives- the stairs were advertised as not steep, however for a toddler we found them to be steep and tiled floor below. There was a mention of a stair gate in the house but we couldn’t find it, helpful staff at said they could deliver one, which they did however it did not fit the stairs. The cleaning could definitely be improved, hairs on window seat, not from our party and most concerning was several shards of sharp glass in conservatory, found when toddler was walking around barefoot.
