Russet cottage was exactly what we were looking for - peaceful and quiet while close to Rye and the sea. It was clean and tidy, with a well stocked kitchen and comfortable beds with good sheets, and Lisa gave us a warm welcome and excellent information on where to go.

We were anxious not being able to make any contact with the owners at all before we arrived. Upon arrival we found key in our cottage door and owners son visited us early evening after we had arrived to our cottage. Dining kitchen area cramped even for two people. Very little space for food preparation, oven gloves would have been an asset, kitchen equipment adequate/minimal. Bedroom was fine but thick duvet in June not appreciated. Bathroom with shower was basic but ok. Holiday cottage quite suitable for a dog with secure patch of grass at back, good position, area and views with sheep and lambs nearby on farm. Convenient position near Rye but overall wasn't good value for money.

We had a very enjoyable stay at Russett cottage as a family of 4 (children 13, 13) and a dog, it was very clean and cosy with a beautiful view over fields with lambs. The cottage had all in we needed. I would not recommend for a family with small children as steps to upstairs bedroom are very steep but no problem for older children. also they have other cottages on farm more suitable for children. Lisa came to meet us on our arrival and we were invited to stables to learn all we wanted to know about lambing and working on farm. we met Lisa's daughter who answered all our questions and let us hold a 2 week old baby lamb. and it was fantastis to see everyday work on farm as the cottage is in a middle of farm. we walked to Rye one day accross field full of sheep and watched the lambs being born. we will be returning to this farm one day.
