Perfect spot

Absolutely perfect in terms of location - close enough to town but far enough away! The bungalow is lovely if a bit tired and in need of a good clean. Is dog friendly but didn’t have anything for dogs so glad we took food bowl/poo bags/bed etc. Thought it was a bit tight with things like towels (one hand towel and one bath towel each) one toilet roll, one tea towel etc - I understand why but would of liked one or two more so note to self to take own next time. We made use of small worktop dishwasher, tumble dryer and washing machine - luckily we took our own tablets for dishwasher and washing machine. Small freezer was just about enough. Oven was a bit slow but having an airfryer was a good touch. The garden was lovely and we enjoyed all the birds. Because there was so many empty bird feeders hanging in the bush we decided to buy some seed and we had so many visitors it was fab to see! Didn’t find the hairdryer until going home and checking for left items (bottom of large chest of drawers). No welcome hamper - we always like them and think it’s a nice touch. No information pack - would have been nice to have some information about the bungalow and what’s around it. Leftover menus isn’t the same. Bed was comfy. Heating was good and fire was nice in the evenings. There is a log burner but no wood (again, one lot for us to use would have been nice). There was only one bin and didn’t seem to be any recycling options which didn’t sit well with us as we recycle everything.

Great location - 10 minutes into town and in a very quiet Cul-de-Sac. Cottage well stocked and very clean. The garden is lovely with birds visiting all the time. Only space for one large car (our Skoda estate just fitted into the drive). Good stuff :-) Review independently collected and verified by Reevoo

We spent a lovely Christmas week in Keswick.

We spent a lovely Christmas week in Keswick. This was our second visit to The Fold which is a lovely comfy, cosy cottage, very well equipped for a couple and in an excellent location, being in a quiet road but only 10 minutes walk to the town centre. Very spacious and warm, especially the garden room with the underfloor heating. Good enclosed garden for dogs, delightful watching all the birds flitting about. The kitchen and garden room have been "revamped" since we last came about 8 years ago, sadly I suppose due to the storms, but they have been nicely modernised with a great cooking range. Two TVs and the addition of free wi-fi and two sofas in the lounge are a bonus. The only issue was the hot water which wasn't satisfactory for having a bath, which seems to be an ongoing problem, however there is a good shower, and also lack of privacy in the kitchen due to no curtains/blind, but we did note a blind in the wardrobe, hopefully for this. That said, we would definitely recommend this bungalow and would love to stay again.

Lovely warm bungalow ideal for a couple with dogs.

Lovely warm bungalow ideal for a couple with dogs. Great enclosed garden. Ideally situated 10/15 minutes walk into Keswick and the local shops, pubs and restaurants which are mostly dog friendly. Great walks from the door so you can leave the car behind. We have visited twice and would definitely go back.

Keswick can be expensive to stay in as its very popular.

Keswick can be expensive to stay in as its very popular. We have stayed in cottages in Scotland and they left a welcome pack which I feel wouldn't go amiss in the fold, just a suggestion. We enjoyed our stay and the enclosed garden for our dogs was a bonus also the lovely garden room looking out to see lots of visiting birds.

Overall it was a good holiday, nice quiet location and only a short distance from Keswick, the only thing that i wasn't happy with was the off road parking i am not an inexperienced driver, i have been driving for 50 years all types of vehicles + towing horse boxes and caravans, but i struggled with the parking space and i scrapped my new Golf GTE on the wall at the entrance part, in my opinion the entrance needs to be larger, but having said all that i would still recommend The Fold.

We always enjoy our stay in this lovely peaceful cottage, however the shower is in dire need of upgrading as it is now more or less just a trickle, which if adjusted becomes freezing cold or red hot without altering the water flow. The bed really needs a new mattress but aside from that a lovely holiday cottage with superb walks right from the door.
