We loved our holiday.
We loved our holiday. The cottage was lovely and had all we needed. We enjoyed the garden and the local area. We went walking and cycling and had some cosy nights in round the log burning fire. Had a wonderful time and hope to go again. Review independently collected and verified by Reevoo

Lovely location in the middle of Welsh countryside poor WiFi and phone signals but knew about that before hand and it was nice to be away from technology for a while to be honest probably not suitable for teens and young adults though. Tv reception can be temperamental from time to time so recommend taking some dvds kitchen could do with some more equipment such as a selection of sharp knives and a new kettle for a holiday let the fridge/freezer is an excellent size easily big enough for a weeks worth of shopping all in all we had a lovely stay Review independently collected and verified by Reevoo

Y Bwthyn is perfect if you are looking for a break in a beautiful but slightly secluded setting.
Y Bwthyn is perfect if you are looking for a break in a beautiful but slightly secluded setting. The grounds are second to none, with acres and acres to explore. Our 4 year old absolutely loved it, although we had to make sure he didn't venture out too far on his own as it might have been easy for him to get slightly lost or fall into a pond. The orchard is particularly enchanting, and we were really impressed by the variety of holly and hydrangea species on display at the property. The cottage itself was very well presented, if a little dated, and even though some items had been removed due to Covid 19, it felt very comfortable. We felt it was clean enough but certain areas, such as cupboard shelves, bedside tables and behind/below larger items of furniture, could have been cleaned more in depth. Beds were comfortable enough and the kitchen offered most essentials for self-catering, although the frying pan had seen better days and we couldn't find a chopping board. Some items could have done with being repaired or replaced. For instance, the oven didn't work, a door handle was missing a screw and a socket was broken upstairs. We might have occasionally heard rodents either in the roof or behind the skirting boards in the double bedroom, but that is to be expected in such a rural property and didn't really bother us. There was no mobile reception at the property, but we were able to access the WiFi just outside the side entrance. The area has a lot to offer, with Newport's sandy beach only minutes away and wonderful walks through the local woods. It is an area which is fascinating to explore with regards to nature, geology and history. We would definitely consider staying at Y Bwthyn again.
