The Smithy was a lovely getaway from it all cottage but was also not far from the very historical Canterbury and the seaside of Hythe, Dymchurch etc. We enjoyed the property very much, it was immaculately clean and beautifully situated in a hamlet on the North Downs. A very comfortable cottage which is "away from it all".
A very comfortable cottage which is "away from it all". The countryside is lovely. The narrow lanes can be tricky if you meet a tractor. The local pub is not open every day and there is no shop, that I could find, nearby. The area is extremely interesting historically, with Dover, Hythe and Canterbury within easy reach. The cottage certainly enhanced our visit to the area, but it was a shame that a) the weather did not help and b) we had to cut short our visit. The cottage was enjoyable, comfortable, well equipped (although we did not use all of it and had meals out)

This the best holiday cottage we have stayed in and we have stayed in many.
This the best holiday cottage we have stayed in and we have stayed in many. Owners have equipped it for total comfort and relaxation. Little touches of toiletries and jam and milk, plus books and dvds were wonderful. Such a peaceful location with a great pub 2 minutes walk. But then only half an hour from Ashford terminal. We went to Brussels, 90 mins on train. Have already recommended and will be back as we plan another Euro star trip next year and this is a perfect base.

We had an enjoyable quiet week away at The Smithy. The cottage was warm and the woodburner was lovely to put on in the evenings. The local pub was friendly and the food excellent. If you want a break away from it all, but within 20 minutes of 'civilisation' this would be an ideal place to stay.
