Oakwood is situated just in front of Sewerby Hall and Gardens, a beautiful Georgian mansion set in 50-acres of landscaped gardens, plus a zoo to keep the children entertained. This detached property lies in the village of Sewerby, on the clifftops of the east Yorkshire coast overlooking the bay of Bridlington. The seafront is just a short stroll away, where you can walk along the clifftop to Bridlington, or catch the land train which runs several times a day throughout the summer. In the opposite direction is Danes Dyke, a local nature reserve. For those of you with dogs, the walks along the cliffs are breathtaking, and this is the reason why so many walkers return to this area year after year. There is also a large grassed area where you can enjoy a picnic or perhaps a game of cricket. Alternatively, spend a lazy afternoon watching the local village team play cricket and take in the stunning scenery of the coast.

Bridlington is a busy, traditional seaside resort and still has a working harbour, where you can watch the boats come in with their catch. Flamborough Head and the RSPB bird sanctuary at Bempton are close by. See the puffins in their natural habitat, as well as kittiwakes, guillemots and gannets. There are many stately homes to visit in the area, including Burton Agnes Hall, Sledmere House and Castle Howard. Hull, the City of Culture 2017, and the medieval city of York can be reached within an hour by both car or train. The market towns of Beverley, Driffield and Pocklington, with their charming independent shops and cafes, are well worth a visit. The coastal resorts of Scarborough, Filey and Whitby are easily accessible, or inland, enjoy a wonderful drive through the North York Moors National Park. Beach ½ mile. Shop 1 mile, pub and restaurant 500 yards.

A lovely cottage that is superbly located for all the attractions of the Yorkshire coast, yet is just far enough off the beaten track to be truly relaxing. The accommodation was spotlessly clean and the downstairs bedroom and bathroom made it ideal for our elderly parents. The welcome pal was greatly appreciated by humans and canine alike - thank you Tina. Literally on the doorstep of Sewerby Hall, we loved being able to walk through the grounds whenever we felt like it as well as the cliff top walks towards Bridlington. Would definitely go back again.

loved the bungalow.

loved the bungalow. well equipped clean and comfortable. best welcome hamper we have had. The location for a start point was very good. The local people were very friendly, the gardens opposite was great for us as we could go for a stroll round after evening meal and stretch our legs.

Excellent location, wonderful walks, and easy access to the beach.

Excellent location, wonderful walks, and easy access to the beach. Pub serving good food very close by. Sewerby Hall and gardens literally opposite - well worth a visit and you can walk in the lovely grounds when the house is closed. Oakwood offered comfortable sofas and good outdoor seating. Some of the beds were found to be uncomfortable. The upstairs bedrooms are tiny, and we thought more suited to children. It wasn't possible to properly seat 8 people for dining. There were a couple of niggly issues re equipment, but the owner sorted these quickly. On the surface Oakwood was clean and well presented - though under the beds and sofas needed attention, and there was black mould in both showers. Overall we had a lovely stay, but on balance we feel the property needed a little attention, and was more suited to a maximum of 6 adults (or 4 adults and 4 children.)

We had a lovely week at Oakwood Cottage, we were met by Tina the owner on our arrival, she showed us around the property and explained how the heating worked. The welcome pack include a bottle of wine for us and chews for our dogs. The cottage is directly opposite the entrance to Sewerby Hall, and a short walk to The Ship which is dog friendly. A Land Train runs from Sewerby Hall into Bridlington frequently if you don’t the walk along the cliff top or you can get to the beach via steps and walk along the beach into town. The cottage had everything we needed for our stay a real home from home, the rear of the property is secure making it safe and secure for the dogs. It has a table and chairs for outside dining when the weather allows along with a BBQ. The front has ample parking for 2 cars.

Lovely cottage in a great location for walking. Local pub and coop close by. Best equipped holiday home I’ve ever been in. The welcome pack was great and the dogs weren’t forgotten either. Lovely walks in both directions along the cliff top

Oakwood was ideal for our long weekend: we appreciated Tina’s personal attention regarding being shown round, advised and provided with a generous welcome pack. We loved the walks along the beach and our visit to RSPB at Bempton Cliffs.

A fantastic base for exploring the area! We had a great week at Oakwood.

A fantastic base for exploring the area! We had a great week at Oakwood. On arrival we were met by the owner Tina who showed us around and let us know about the local area. The property was well equipped, clean and very well presented. The double door bathroom took a bit of getting used to and the upstairs bedrooms were probably more suited to children but were all very functional. Oakwood is directly opposite Sewerby Hall, which is well worth a visit and you can walk around the grounds after the hall has closed. The Ship Inn is a short walk away serving good food at a reasonable cost. You can walk along the cliff top path or along the beech, via some steps, or you could take the Land Train running from Sewerby Hall into Bridlington. We may well go back in the near future!
