Private parking for 2 cars. No smoking.. The Shieling is a delightful, detached bungalow standing in its own enclosed garden, within a 5-minute walk of the centre of Keswick. Refurbished in 2018, the bungalow has a fitted kitchen, and has been decorated and furnished to a good standard throughout. It is ideal for a family, offering three bedrooms, one of which is en-suite, and a family bathroom. Set quietly in a small cul-de-sac it is the ideal place to return to after a day’s sightseeing or an invigorating walk in the fells.
Keswick, renowned for its spectacular setting and surrounded by mountains, is the perfect base to enjoy a holiday in the Northern Lakes. Ideal for outdoor enthusiasts, the area provides many walks to suit all abilities surrounding this beautiful town. There is much to see and do in the area, but if you do not want to venture far, stroll through the town with its many outdoor and speciality shops, friendly pubs, cafés and restaurants. Beach 22 miles. Shop, pub and restaurant ½ mile.

Three generations were very happy and comfortable at The Shieling.

Three generations were very happy and comfortable at The Shieling. It suited us very well with off street parking( a bonus in Keswick). The rooms and beds were comfortable and we felt that there was enough space for us all and it was good to have a separate dining room. The property was very well maintained and clean. We all enjoyed our time here. Thank you!

The Shieling is a lovely three-bedroom cottage that was ideally located for us to explore Keswick and the surrounding area. It suited our needs very well, with only a couple of small issues: the ensuite wet-room smelled a little (perhaps the drain needs a quick clean out?) and the dining room is a little tight for getting round the table when all six seats are occupied. The driveway is a little tight but this was not really a problem, and it was definitely worth putting up with given that there is parking at the cottage for two cars. Overall we had an excellent week at The Shieling and would recommend it.

We were a party of six adults using the Shieling cottage and we managed not to tread on each others toes too much. All the bedrooms were of good size, the galley kitchen and dining room were snug but manageable. The cottage is in a great location, about five minutes walk from the high street and therefore close to the shops. Everything was spotlessly clean and the owners had obviously looked at previous reviews as there was plenty of crockery and cutlery etc. We did find the duvets a little warm but we didn't have hot weather so it wasn't too bad. If we used this cottage again in Summer I would probably take a sheet to use instead. My son in law had the only complaint...the last Harry Potter book from the set was missing! I hasten to add he didn't read any and, as I told him, if that was his only complaint then the cottage was pretty good!

A comfortable and convenient bungalow to rent in Keswick. Facilities and cleanliness were very good. Plenty of parking space although the access is quite tight. Minor disappointments were the mouldy rubber shower mat and the “welcome” pack. One tea-bag and 3 small UHT milk cartons doesn’t really say welcome to a cottage to accommodate 6 people. Nevertheless we had a great holiday.

Lovely place.

Lovely place. Driveway a bit tricky to get in and out of. Duvets far too thick. Settee too low. Grill pan really needs a rack as when you cook sausages/bacon an exces fat burns and sets fire alarm off.

The kitchen is not very practical. Hooks for towels in the kitchen and behind bedroom's doors would be very welcome. On holidays, we would have appreciated a dishwasher instead of a freezer, specially when 6 persons.

The location of the cottage is perfect, tucked away in a quiet little cul-de-sac. Everyone agreed the cottage was spotlessly clean and fully equipped with everything we needed for our stay. It was a perfect base for 6 people to explore the area, and it was such an easy walk into the town’s pubs, shops and restaurants. It was lovely to sit out in the well-kept garden and relax when returning from walking or trips out. Our grandson Ollie got his first pair of walking boots for this trip to the Lakes and he loved the fact that he could help grandad clean them by holding the hosepipe by the front door, this resulted in Ollies socks more often than not getting very wet!

The Shieling is a very clean, well equipped property which we thoroughly enjoyed. It was in a very convenient position for the towns amenities including a local Spar shop. Our grandchildren enjoyed the family games too. My only slightly negative comment would be that the dining room was ‘snug’ in that when six of us sat around the table there was no room to move around. The other is that there were exactly six dinner and small plates, six dishes and six knives and forks so that if for example you wanted to put food on a plate on the table you couldn’t and if you wanted forks for a dessert you had to wash them up after the main meal. A few extra of each item would be really appreciated.

The Shieling is a lovely bungalow in an excellent location with all the facilities you could hope for in a holiday property. It was very clean and had everything we needed to make our holiday a success. It is very well placed for all that Keswick offers as well as easy access to the northern fells - walking from the door - what more could you ask for! The only slight negative is the tight access onto the drive.
