Cozy log home nestled in the aspens! Perfect get away from the hustle and bustle of the city! Take the time to relax on the cool summer nights and star gaze from your 560 square foot deck. If it is too chilly for the deck come on inside grab a cup of hot cocoa and warm your toes by the fire. This home has all the modern comforts yet the feel of hideaway cabin. Take a step back in time and cook on the vintage reproduction range; the abundance of counter space and open floor plan will let you enjoy friends and family while you prepare dinner. The private master suite is on the main level and the upper loft area is perfect for your guests; there is another private bath, bedroom and setting area (just be careful they may never want to leave). There’s room for two kids on the daybed in the loft. Minutes from the cabin you can have Vega State Park with great fishing year round, excellent ATV access to the Grand Mesa trails, and after a day of fun return home and relax the night away. Great location for all outdoor activities. Great Hunting with access to the Grand Mesa, Great Fishing at Vega Lake and the multiple lakes on top of the Mesa, great area for snowmobiling in the winter. Winter access may only be by snowmobile due to road conditions, perfect for true peace and quiet in a cozy log cabin nestled in the snow. Enjoy the neighbors from woods, don't be surprised when deer come for a visit in the yard, and there are humming birds, marmots, chipmunks and so much more.

We used the cabin as a base camp for hunting
It was comfortable and well equipped.
It was clean enough for my wife had she been with me and thats saying something.
We loved the cabin so much, we even entertained one evening! My brother told me if he was staying in the cabin ( he was actually camping at the lake) he would have never left it for the whole stay! 😊
Everything was wonderful and Thank You 😊
Our stay here could not have been better. We were at Vega for a Celebration of Life and Family reunion the end of August. Many of our family start in the huge cabin at the turn on to Shady Lane. While that cabin is impressive, all that visited us at our cabin absolutely loved it. Clean, homey, great location, everything you could need and obviously well loved and cared for.
We had a very nice stay here in late July. The home is located near Vega Lake although the view of the lake is hindered by thick Aspen trees. These same trees give you a woodsy secluded feeling. The cabin is beautiful and the deck is awesome. This cabin actually had wifi that worked well! There is no cell service at Vega State Park so this was a nice surprise. The driveway had limited room for our big truck and trailer but Vega State Park has a big parking lot that is close to cabin and right on 262 that leads to many trails on Grand Mesa. There is no OHV operation permitted in Vega State Park so you need trailer to the parking lot anyway. Everything in the cabin worked and it was very clean and comfortable. I would definitely recommend 👍🏼
Enjoyed staying at this home. Cute deer laying outside when we woke up one morning. If it’s going to be hot bring a fan. Kitchen is very well set up. We also enjoyed lunch and board games on the deck.
First of all this is a very beautiful log cabin! This place advertises "all the comforts of your own home" but yet doesn't have A/C. It was 90 degrees out and probably 85-90 in the house. The water smelled like rotten eggs, and the gas fumes from the snowmobiles stored there made the bunk beds not usable. The property owners only offered us a 50% refund until I had to file a case with VRBO customer service. The owners did make it right, but if I wouldn't have contacted VRBO customer service they wouldn't have. We only stayed one of the 5 nights we booked it for and thats all we could take.
Also, this place is in the middle of nowhere. Vega State Lake has NOTHING to offer as it was so dried up. This place was at least a couple hours from anything fun to do. Not much in the town of Collbran either.
In my opinion, this would be great if they only advertised it as a hunting lodge. Not so great for a summer family stay with small children.
We stayed for three nights and had a great time. This was our 25th year of our yearly men's fishing trip and our third time staying at Vega Reservoir. Fishing was decent but sad to see the water level so low. Great time, good food/drinks and awesome fellowship.

My parents built this place back in 97/98. Was a great family retreat for years. Lots of great memories in the home. I purchased it from them a few years ago to keep it in the family.
Why they chose this property
Authentic Log Home, perfect location for multiple outdoor activities. Any season, this is the place to be. My favorite time is the Fall where the Aspens are absolutely breathtaking. the views around Vega State Park are amazing and makes for an unforgettable trip. Be sure to bring a camera. Wildlife frequent the cabin, passing through and sometimes stopping for a rest. Deer are frequent, Marmots and Chipmunks are permanent residents on the property. Hummingbirds are plentiful and make for an enjoyable show when feeding. As for Hunting and Fishing, you can hardly find a better location. Vega Reservoir or the lakes on the Mesa, the fishing is great. As for Hunting, there are plentiful Elk and Mule Deer both at the State Park and on the Mesa.
What makes this property unique
Quiet place for a family vacation gathering. Perfect place for a romantic weekend getaway.
