Stylish apartments (22 m2 each) with big terrace overlooking a small river and the lush jungle. Hot water, fully equipped kitchen, wi-fi, hammocks, car parking. Beach, restaurants, beach bar, supermarket 15 minutes walking distance. Our spacious garden is home of many animals such as tucans, humming birds, butterflies, turtles (there is a small river at the side of the property) sloths, iguanas, monkeys, chameleons, and many others. We have banana, coconut, mamonchino, and other fruit trees with organic fruits in the garden. if you arrive in the right period you can taste them...
We are located in a very safe and friendly neighborhood. We are walking distance to the beach, supermarket, restaurants, beach bar, a fruit and veggie stand with cheap and fresh local fruits also selling chilled young coconuts called pipas. Almost all fruits are organic from local farms. Our entrance is from Margarita road, easy accessible by car, bicycle or walking but on the other side we have the jungle and a small river.
The apartments are hand-built using traditional construction methods, ecological techniques and recycled materials., the trees around are hiding them from direct sunlight so you never feel hot inside. The bathroom roof is partly made of glass so you have natural light in there in the daytime.
We can help you findig the best tours for you, you can even book the tour at us the same price as in the office. (waterfall, snorkeling, diving, kayaking, chocolate farm, butterfly farm, indian reserve, bicycle rental, animal rescue center, canopy, surf lesson, etc) We are also glad to give you information about restaurants, events, different beaches, parties...

Really not a great place if you’re looking for R&R

This is the 15th place we’ve stayed in Costa Rica, so we are familiar with rentals here, and have spent about a year total in this country over the last five years. The day we were supposed to check in, we still hadn’t received directions and had to reach out again for them. We were then inundated with what can only be described as an insane push to book any and all activities through the hosts so they can ‘give us the best dealz’. These were sent as a giant copy pasta with no order and repeated info. Somewhere within all of that were the directions on how to get to the rental and how to get inside. We did request info on renting bicycles, but never heard back. Nobody greeted us on arrival, even though it was necessary to provide our exact time of arrival for the caretaker, whom we never saw the entire visit. Our only interaction was asking, via WhatsApp, for some clean towels and new trash bags after four days. These were left on the bench outside our door while we were away. When we asked about the laundry service available (which was a listed amenity when we booked), we were told to walk a half mile away with our dirty clothes and bring it to the public lavendaria there. Saying they have laundry service available is basically a lie. That’s like saying lunch is provided because there is a restaurant a half mile away you can buy food at. The cabin has the worst shower we’ve ever used, out of any place we’ve been in the world. Barely a trickle came out of the head, and the floor was sloped away from the drain, so water just puddled there. Every evening, there were multiple bats inside the unit. We would run out with pillows on our head and leave the doors open, waiting a half hour for them to finally all fly out. This happened because there wasn’t enough screen on the high wall. We prefer to cook our own meals, which is why we wanted a unit with a kitchen. We were told to bring our own lighter for the stove. Upon arrival, we found there wasn’t a spatula, and that the fry pans were a scratched and warped disaster. It’s really not a great place if you’re looking for R&R. We had hoped for some quiet time during our stay in Casa Lina, instead we were faced with headaches at many turns and then playing a terrible game of duck and cover. I’d say the only saving grace there is the scenery. Your dinner table faces the woods and there are many tropical birds and iguanas. I’d recommend looking at other places.

A beautiful escape

My husband and I stayed here - idyllic setting - close enough to Puerto Viejo to make shopping/touristing/eating easy, but removed and private so we felt like we were secluded. If you like to bird watch there are toucans consistently moving through the property - we're also fairly certain we saw a green macaw. The owner was fabulous - very responsive to messages and friendly. Don't expect luxury - but if you want to be in the middle of nature, this is a great find!

Impressive bird life envelops Canadians

Our hosts and daughter were super Magnanmus and helpful. Everything was as described. Kinga is superorganzed and Laszlo very helpful. Their daughter likes maple syrup. The hammocks are a godsend

We are a European couple fell in love with this country ( especially in the Caribbean) more than 20 years ago. Life is here like in a hidden paradise, really close to the nature. No words can tell you how it feels like, you should try it! We wanted to share this unique experience also with others so we decided to settle down here in Cocles and built 2 apartments for rent. We gave the name after our 4 year old daughter: Lina. You can feel the nature really close
to you, its an incredible feeling, but dont be afraid of the animals, normally they are afraid of human beings so they dont come close to you, you have to be patient and silent to be able to watch them . even the spiders or other insects :)
we have a sloth living with us on the tree next to our house, dozens of humming birds around, an iguana couple and a friendly agouti are visiting us frequently, not to mention all the birds flying around the house
We raise organic banana, pineapple and coconut in the garden, if you arrive in the right period we invite you taste them...

Why they chose this property

The apartments are hand-built using traditional construction methods, ecological techniques and recycled materials., the trees around are hiding them from direct sunlight so you never feel hot inside. The bathroom roof is partly made of glass so you have natural light in there in the daytime.
We are not an all-inclusive commercial five star hotel, just a friendly young family who'd like to share this fantastic jungle wildlife experience with open minded travelers. We want you to feel comfortable and at ease in our place and offer you the possibility to look behind the scenes of commercial tourism and learn a little more about the region they are visiting.
We recommend our Lodge to you if

* you really want to taste some special Caribbean feeling
*you like quiet neighborhood while sleeping
* you like having your meals (enjoy your drink) on your natural wooden terrace overlooking our beautiful tropical garden
* the first thing you want to hear in the morning is the song of the beautiful Caribbean birds (and not the noise of the milkman's car)
* you don't want to check your belongings every minute ( our street is safe and quiet)
* you like saving energy, time and money by having all the important information about the area from your host
* you like picking a fresh organic banana from our banana tree in front of your porch for breakfast
* you like observing animals in their natural surroundings (from your hammock)
* you like colors, sounds, flavors, shapes of mother nature
