Great overall experience. There were several large dogs up on the porch and hovering around our vehicle at any given time so we weren’t able to enjoy sitting out on the porch. Or even be outside at all. Although the dogs weren’t aggressive we were cautious. Also we didn’t know where to throw the trash. Just in trying to clean up after ourselves.
Quiet & peaceful neighborhood! Great house! Covered front deck, open air deck out back, BBQ & outdoor fire area. Loft would be great for kiddos or a family. Larger bed on the main floor. Open concept house. Grateful that our doggos were welcome! We’ll be back!
Our overall stay at the cabin was pretty good it's very clean they kept it cozy and warm. The only downside to the place is that the neighbors had two loose dogs one that would Chase your car and one that would come up in the yard while you had your dogs out that growled at me. But otherwise the whole state was great nothing wrong with the VRBO.
I worked out of this property for 5 days. Internet was sufficient (DSL at ~8.5 Mbps down) for my video and voice calls as well as screen-sharing.
Gary was very helpful during the check-in process as he was aware that internet connectivity was important to me. He and I shared several phone calls and texts until the initial issue was corrected. He also provided other options in case we couldn't correct the issue - but those other options weren't needed.
The cabin itself had everything you need. I just needed to bring food - the rest was all there.
I will be booking this cabin again!
This place was wonderful and comfortable. Our family of 4 was cozy, and enjoyed our time there. From the quiet, trees surrounding us, and the added convenience of being near town it was a great vacation. We have recommended this place to family and friends, and will return!

Check out surprise
Dixie was very generous in letting us use a later date when we had an emergency and couldn’t use our original date. She then let us pick another date “through June 9.” In the hotel world, days always refer to nights, so through June 9 should always mean we stay through the night of June 9. Nope, the morning of June 9 the house cleaners showed up and kicked us out. Dixie needs to be more careful. Always verify what day you need to check out.
We loved this cabin! It felt like home with all the amenities from toiletries to spices. It was quiet and relaxing with enough space for the whole family. Great location. We’ll definitely book again.
The pictures do not do it justice. This place is so much prettier and so well taken care of. We had an excellent time and would absolutely stay there again.
The pics do not do the cabin justice! It was clean, beautiful inside, like new. My husband and I enjoyed every minute of it! Loved the horseshoe pit on the property as well. Will come again!
We had such a great time at this cozy cabin. It was very clean and everything was as presented in the description. We loved having coffee on the porch. The neighborhood was quiet and peaceful. The owners were quick to respond with any questions as well. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and highly recommend this quaint cabin.
The cabin was just as I had hoped it would be, Quite ; with plenty of room inside and outside. The front porch and back porch was a big plus. Full amenities, and sleeps 4 easy, We had a great time and spent allot of time in front of the gas stove reading and telling story's. Went every day to the forest and ran the forest roads and saw the scenery. Property manager was very helpful and easy to talk to.
Will book again , Sam from OKC.
We enjoyed our stay—the house was cozy, and it was nice to have the propane stove/heat. We also appreciated having the the porches and large yard to play with our dog. Susie and Gary were wonderful hosts!
Loved this little cabin. Stayed in early June with hubby. son, and our 2 dogs. Cabin is small but had everything we needed. My son loved sleeping in the loft. There are beautiful pine trees in the the yard. Yard only partially fenced but after the 1st day dogs knew where to be. Neighborhood is nice and super quiet. Area is convenient to all White Mountain sights. Some recommended activities- horseback riding at Porter Mountain Stables, Rim Vista Trail, Show Low bluff trail, Tongo Natural Bridge State Park, Wayer Wheel Trail, Show Low Historical Museum. Had lovely time. Oh, Pit Stop Pizza is nearby and is good. I recommend this cabin.
This was our second time staying at the cabin and it was just as great as the first. Lovely property, quiet area, friendly and communicative property owner. Thank you.
This little cabin was perfect for our family & dogs. It was clean, the kitchen included everything we needed, and the host even had the bathroom stocked with all kinds of toiletries! The property & location was heavenly. My favorite part was sitting on the large front porch, relaxing with coffee or wine. Perfect little cabin for a weekend getaway!
We chose this cabin for a low key and relaxing birthday, and received exactly that. The cabin was cozy, clean, well organized and roomy enough for the two of us plus our two very small dogs. Liz was fantastic! She is attentive, easy to communicate with and made us feel welcome both before, during and after our stay. Without a doubt, we will be returning!
We were pleasantly surprised. The pictures do not do this cabin justice. All we needed to bring was food and clothing. Highly recommend this cabin. We will be back again!

We have owned Sugary Pines ll since 2004, we plan on retiring to the area. We love the area and the people of Heber/ Overgaard.
Why they chose this property
Beautiful cabin on a heavily treed acre, a short drive from Phoenix. Plenty of lakes, golf course, hiking. Cool summers and snowy winters. True four seasons city.
What makes this property unique
H/O is normally 20- 30 degrees cooler than Phoenix, you can hear the wind thru the beautiful pine trees.
