Ideal house for a family get together

Suited our family get together of 7(4 generations age 2 to 88). Plenty of bathrooms made mornings run smoothly and plenty of space and seats etc for eating and relaxing. Large fridge freezer if you had a food delivery and a lovely welcome package, thank you. We were attending a local wedding so spent limited time in the house but it has a reasonable sized garden if you were there for a while. Log burner and electric heaters. Close to Henley, but you'd probably need a car to stay here. Lovely pub in Nettlebed, literally 5 minutes walk straight down the path from the house. Alan was quick to answer any questions and gave us a thorough welcome tour. Plenty of off road parking.

Easter getaway with children and grandchildren

This was a nice modern house in a quiet residential area and was ideal for our family’s week stay. The property was clean and tidy and Alan, the owner, was friendly and helpful. Nettlebed is ideally situated for touring the area with some great National Trust Properties nearby. Highclere Castle (Downton Abbey), Blenheim Palace and Bletchley Park all also only a short day trip away. Would certainly recommend booking this property.

House perfect for our needs

We rented this property for a family wedding held in Henley on Thames. We had a really lovely time. The house was perfect for our needs which was for all the family to be together for our son's wedding. Spacious and extremely clean and tidy. Alan had thought of everything and made us extremely welcome. The surrounding area is very pretty, lovely beech woods. The village is lovely with the The White Hart pub/hotel within very easy walking distance. All in all a very successful stay. Thank you so much Alan .

Corner House Review

Host Alan met us at the property upon arrival and thoroughly explained everything we needed to know. Absolutely delighted with Alan and the property which fully matched the listing. Corner House was very clean, well equipped and exactly what we required for our family stay. All four bedrooms are well proportioned, large kitchen and dining area, ample parking, large garden and excellent quiet location.

Corner House Nettlebed

Nice spacious house in a good location. Very quiet and peaceful. Good pub and cafe in the village. A few website discrepancies e.g. We were a group of 8 but only 6 dining chairs - we had to use chairs from the outside sun deck but they sufficed. No shaded area in the garden but this was not a problem for us as we were out and about most of the time. There were some cleanliness issues but the host has reasonably and very promptly addressed them with us.

Perfect holiday home

This was our second vacation in Alan’s lovely home in Nettlebed, a very nice village with plenty of beautiful walks and perfectly located between Henley, Watlington, and Wallingford. The house is extremely quiet, spacious and comfortable. Alan is a fantastic host, very thoughtful, charismatic and full of good advice. We would strongly recommend his place, either for a family/couple holiday, or a business trip.

Very Comfortable, Ideal Location and Keen to Please Host

We live in Scotland and our family visits to London were usually based out of Hotels where we pay a premium and still found parking was an issue. So we made the right choice of staying at Corner house. Clean, comfortable and nicely furnished with a large garden and patio to enjoy the great weather. We made several day trips to London, Oxford, Stratton upon Avon and Reading and found the location very convenient. No storage of shops and stores as well near by with Waitrose and Tesco nearby. Lastly, Alan spent time to make sure we fully got acquainted with the house and regularly checked by texting if we needed any help with anything. Great experience for the family. Thanks Alan.

Lovely property, fantastic host!

Alan could not have been more helpful, he really went above and beyond making us welcome and ensuring our trip went smoothly. A great communicator, friendly and kind - we really felt exceptionally well looked after. The house is very clean and comfortable, decorated to a high standard and with great beds - we all had an excellent nights sleep. Fantastic showers, soft towels, very well kitted out kitchen with all you'll need to cater. Sunny garden. In a lovely, quiet neighborhood with good transport links to the centre of Henley. Will be coming back and would highly recommend booking this property.

Wonderful time at Corner House.

Lovely house in a quiet , safe environment. Plenty of space for all of us. Prepared meals at home in a convenient kitchen dining area. Sunny garden space for lounging and dining. Easily connected to things of interest. Easy cab ride to train at Reading for day trips to London. Easy walk for a great lunch at neighborhood cafe - The Field Kitchen. Local people were friendly and welcoming. Would very much like to return.

About the host

Host profile image
I love living at Corner House, it's a very happy home for me and is the place I feel comfortable. Due to my work as an actor, presenter and property developer I'm fortunate to be able to travel. Wherever I have been in the world, this is still the place I want to come back to.

Why they chose this property

Buying Corner House coming on 15 years ago, I really like the sense of space. In the summer I love to have all the windows and doors open and allow the breeze to roll through. The lounge and family room is great for entertaining, the bedrooms are a good size and I feel really at home here.
In the summer the garden is great for enjoying the sun, in the winter the wood burning stove makes it very cosy and warm inside. It's very comfortable and welcoming; this is the place I love to come home to.

What makes this property unique

The first time I came to Henley some 27 years ago, I just knew I wanted to live here. It's a quintessentially English town in the home counties; with a real sense of the summer season. As an added bonus I can get to London in just over an hour on my motorbike. This is a beautiful part of the world, it has so much to offer.
The countryside is awesome for mountain biking and sport, with a lake nearby for wake, surf and paddle boarding. To me, we are in the most beautiful place; whilst being close enough to the motorway network, airports and London.
