About this property

Location! Centrally located, 1.8 miles to downtown, mountain and river views

Location! Location! Location! Enjoy your deck at beautiful Bluebird Sanctuary, on a hill overlooking the French Broad River, New Belgium Brewery, River Arts District, and mountains in the background. Park your car and relax in fun West Asheville. Centrally located, you can forget parking hassles downtown. Only 1.8 miles away, you can walk, bike, or take the bus (two blocks away) to downtown. It is approximately a 20 minute walk or 5-minute drive.

Guests have the entire lower floor to themselves with private entrance, living room, bath, kitchen, and library–bedroom with a queen size bed. The private deck is perfect for enjoying morning coffee or an evening cocktail. The rooms have spacious high ceilings, and filled with antiques, original art, and photography. Kick off your shoes for an acupressure massage on the river rock floors in the luxurious bathroom.

The kitchen has a stainless fridge, microwave, dishwasher, cook top, coffee maker and organic coffee. All linens are provided, along with an iron, shampoo, conditioner, soap, and hairdryer. The home is well taken care of with all high-end comfortable furnishings. You will also find backgammon, dominos, and cards. We love our occasional nesting bluebirds, and some of our art reflects our affection.

You will receive my list of entertainment venues and restaurants with the websites so you can look things up before you get here. These listings separate which restaurants are nearby, in other neighborhoods, or downtown.

Stroll downhill one block for a brew in the beautiful new New Belgium Brewery “Liquid Center” (tasting room), or kayak down the river.

Walk two blocks across the river to the River Arts District to visit open artist studios or the Wedge Brewing Co., hear live music at the Grey Eagle Music Hall, or eat at the well-known BBQ joint 12 Bones (Obama’s favorite). Walk towards the heart of West Asheville and grab breakfast at Taco Billys, OWL Bakery (Old World Levain) or dine at the top-rated restaurant The Admiral. Carrier Park is nearby, where you can fish, walk, or run on the track. Several kayak and canoe rentals are nearby.

You will need a car to venture further out to explore the mountains, beautiful waterfalls, hiking trails, and quaint surrounding towns. Be cruising the Blue Ridge Parkway or strolling the Biltmore Estate in about 10 minutes.

Comfort Plus ( Not an Airline Seat)

Annelise was the perfect Host. I stayed for the month of June and everything was as outlined in the description. I love to go for morning walks to get a coffee and there were at least 4 coffee houses within walking distance. The communication was outstanding and if I needed anything Annelise responded very quickly. I would definitely stay with Annelise again.

Blue Ridge Mt modern comfort

Nicely located near the center of West Asheville's art district. A newer, comfortable, relaxing and clean unit. Very owner friendly. The kitchen is limited in space and equipment, but that gives you a reason to eat out more! Plan to arrive before dark, as it can be challenging to find the first time. Many great eating places near by (check out a doughnut shop "Holes" for a morning treat). You can see from the deck and can walk to a new brewery for a neat experience too. We enjoyed our stay!

Excellent place to stay in Asheville

Great location near New Belgium, not in downtown, but 5 minutes by bus or uber, or about a 20 min walk. Love West Asheville, much more of a real neighborhood instead of the slightly touristy center. Great host, 5 stars all the way. Highly recommended. Would stay again without a thought

A wonderful stay!

Bluebird Sanctuary is lovely - high end finishes in a beautifully appointed space. We found the location ideal, with easy access to the River Arts District and downtown. The New Belgium Brewery is just across the street, and provides a great viewpoint for activity on the French Broad River. The walking path behind the brewery is also a plus. Annelise is a great host - very personable. I took advantage of the complimentary yoga class she offered! We would recommend Bluebird Sanctuary, and hope to return.

Very lovely! We enjoyed our stay. The home was nicely appointed!

We enjoyed our stay, parking is a little tight, because of construction on the street, but doable. It was convenient to the west side, and overlooks our favourite brewery! thanks Analise

A comfortble dwelling in a peaceful location

We really enjoyed our visit to Asheville and our stay in this property. The owner was there to greet us and also provided us with a bottle of bubbly. Thanks! The location was central but is a little difficult to navigate by foot because of the hills and lack of sidewalks. By car, everything was close. The unit was comfortable and had everything we needed. We would definitely return.

A nice place in Asheville

My husband & myself were very comfortable at Ms Mundy's well located place. There was lots of room for the two of us, and if you include the balcony it was spacious. D'town was a 5 minute car ride or a 20 minute bike ride. The River Arts District was within view, as is the New Belgium Brew Pub and it's attendant park. The few problems that popped up were handled quickly. The apartment was private and mostly quiet. Even though the kitchen wasn't a full one, we understood the limitations and we had no problem cooking small meals there. The unit is clean, recently renovated and well appointed.

Great location!

We loved our visit to Asheville and our stay at the Bluebird Sanctuary. The homeowner was very kind and took time to give us a rundown of all the information we needed to know about the home. The location was great. Easy access to several Asheville hotspots, and a great view of New Belgium Brewery to boot!

Great getaway

Bluebird is a great getaway place. It is located in a quite neighborhood. Loved the fact that it is within walking distance from the art district and two local breweries. We really enjoyed sitting on the balcony in the morning and evening just taking in the great view and atmosphere. The owner was extremely helpful and friendly and was readily available if we needed anything or had any questions.

Convenient and comfortable. My husband and I spent 6 days here and enjoyed these accommodations.

This is a great property for a couple - close to everything Asheville while also being a peaceful place to renew yourself after a long day. Overlooks the New Belgium Brewery and offer beautiful sunrise views off the deck. Charming hideaway in a delightful city.
