Rome trip

This place is in a terrific spot for walking distance from all site seeking.. when we arrived for check in, the room was dirty as in not cleaned after last person used. Ants all over sink. Had to wait an extra 2 hours with our bags to let cleaning lady finish. So other than a perfect location. I would make sure the room will be cleaned, etc before you arrive

Ants

Unfortunately the views and location of this apartment were clouded by an infestation of ants. Not only that, the toilet did not work.

Standout view

The photos don’t do do justice to the view- it’s really spectacular. Peter met us early to get the keys and was very welcoming and helpful. The apartment itself is spacious and adequately furnished, but it needs some cleaning and updating. There’s a ton of mold in the shower and the air conditioner was leaking. I let the property manager know about both of these issues but no action was taken (and to be fair, the apartment would probably need to be empty to get rid of the mold). Overall, if you’re not worried about cleanliness it then it’s worth it for the amazing view, but they really should clean up the mold situation as it’s unhealthy.

Unbelievable view

Check in was sketchy. Had made arrangements with Martina to drop off luggage at 11:00. No one showed, didn't answer phone. The staff at Hotel Traiano were not at all helpful. Within 30 min however the gentleman assigned to check people in called and came to let us in. That annoying snafu aside we absolutely loved this place. Is larger than appears in photos. Is not new and sterile but is in a charming old building with an old slow elevator so these need to be considered. The feature of this property that makes it so wonderul is the view. Much better than the pictures can convey. Every evening we watched the sunset on the coliseum. Trajan's market is across street, the forum and Palatine Hill are directly in front, the huge Victor Emanuel monument is to the right. There are many other ancient structures in view. The perch is a little precarious and would be a no go for those averse to heights but is fine for 2. Incidentally the coffee/espresso maker is not working.

What a View!

The view is phenominal! Possibly better than the photos show. It was so worth it to stay here to experience such a view in Rome. The monuments are lit up at night so you can enjoy the view day and night. However...there were some negatives. The shower was not very clean. There was old and fresh mold growing around the outside edges. The courtesy package they provide with soap and shampoo is barely adequate for a few days. The apartment is roomy, but there isn't much space to put your clothing. The queen size bed is actually two small mattresses pushed together so there is a big crack in the middle. The bedding needs to be improved. It was nothing more than a bare mattress with a sheet over it. You were right in the middle of the tourist action in Rome, but not really in a neighborhood. We never found a grocery store, or even a convenience store that sold milk. We ate all meals out. It is hosted by a company, not a person, which made communications slow. They don't leave you any snack or drink. We were met on schedule by an agent and the check in was efficient. The balcony is not really a true balcony. It is part of the roof with a railing around it and a slight slope. It didn't bother us, but if heights bother you or you have a slight vertigo issue you won't like it. So...would I stay here again? Probably not, but I'm really glad I stayed there once. The view was totally worth it.

Rome at your feet

This VRBO is our favorite. We stayed here probably 3 years ago before COVID. What a fantastic view of the Forum, the Colosseum, Victor Emmanuel Monument, Trajan Column etc. The VRBO is roomy with a large bedroom, large living room and great breakfast bar. We stayed for 8 days and were happy to use the clothes washing machine which also has a drying cycle. Maria was there to meet us and explain how everything operated. All contact with the management was great who lined up drivers for us to the Vatican at 5:25am and to Civitavechhia later on. The location is very central and I was able to walk to the Aurelian Walls at Porta San Sebastiano in one direction, the Pantheon in another direction and Termini Station and the Servian Walls in yet another direction. Walking to the Forum and Colosseum was easy.

Incredible View

Usually the picture of the view from a property is better than the actual view. In this case, the actual view was better. We could see from Trajan's Column and Victor Emmanuel Monument to the Forum to the Colosseum. We were right across the street from Trajan's market. The place was great. Nice kitchen. Bathroom and shower were good. It was a little tricky getting entry. I had the taxi driver (from the airport to the VRBO) call ahead. I figured that this would give the person meeting us a heads up and he/she would be there. No one was there. Also, it was confusing because the VRBO address was a hotel. The hotel front didn't know where our VRBO was but he did say that the top two floors of the hotels were suites separate from the hotel. Initially I called the wrong contact number but my wife called the right contact number. The person to meet us was in the room on the 6th floor. I expected him to be down on the ground floor. So when you arrive, don't panic. It is a hotel you enter. You have to call the contact number to get the person meeting you to come downstairs. This was an absolutely great place. I definitely want to come back.
