About this property

Traditional Irish Cottage located in outstanding scenery

This beautiful listed Irish cottage is at least 120 years old. The L-shaped dwelling consists of the old thatch and the new part. Very suitable for a family with children or two couples that prefer their own privacy with the central kitchen as the warm centre of the house.
The wrap-around garden is very secluded and the front garden is completely fenced off. The house stands on a 2 acre private plot.
There is parking space for 2 cars.
The Nire is a lovely, scenic location, within the Comeragh Mountains.
There are ample possibilities for fishing, horseriding, walking, scenic drives and playing golf.
There are lovely old villages and towns, i.e Waterford, Kilkenny, Cahir, Clonmel, Dungarvan, Lismore, within a 1hour reach, to visit and to explore.

Verweilen in ehemaliger Mühle

Sehr reizvolles, schönes Anwesen. Alles Nötige vorhanden, was den Aufenthalt sehr angenehm gestaltet.

Nire Valley beauty

Felt like a home-from-home in this cosy, comfortable and traditional old cottage. We had everything we needed, including the weather, for a lovely stay in the area which offered plenty to do. However, staying home was just great - relaxing, reading, cooking, watching the skies change and unwinding!! Perfect.

The cottage in the mountains

The property was beautiful, surrounding area was breathtaking, wildlife in abundance. The perfect place to get away from it all. We will definitely be returning to this charming little cottage.

Nire valley

Was a lovely location and perfect for our needs at present near to mountains for walking.. quiet area would have liked if there was network and Internet and with no TV it was a little isolated at times but we knew all of that when we booked.

About the host

Hosted by Els Leen

Host profile image
We are a Dutch family of 5. Tony works for KLM (Royal Dutch Airlines) and I work as a primary school teacher. We love to go to Ireland during our holidays to relax and to enjoy the house and the scenery.
We therefore like to offer others the opportunity to share and love our house and to experience the beauty of the Nire!

Why they chose this property

In 1994 we visited the Nire Valley for the first time and we instantly fell in love with this part of Ireland. The cottage came for sale and 6 months later we were the proud owners of this beautiful gem.
Over the years , we have been renovating and upgrading the house to modern standards without losing any of its charms.
We like others to experience the magic of our "thatch"!

What makes this property unique

The tradional cottage style is kept, but it offers all modern amenities. Everything you will need is there.
Together with the quiet surroundings, it will offer you a relaxed holiday feel!
