One BDRM at The Village Monache. Steps to the Village and Gondola. Dogs allowed.
TOT # 7475-0005
Stay in this beautiful one bedroom condo and leave your car parked. You are just steps away from the gondola and Village and all the fun; restaurants, shopping, festivals, ski and bike rentals, music and family movies under the stars--It's all here at the Village. After a day or night of activity come home and relax by the gas fire or sit out on the balcony which overlooks the Village as well as a serene forested area. The Monache is the newest and most luxurious of the Village properties with a large saline swimming pool and two adjacent outdoor hot tubs. A workout center that overlooks the pool. Open spacious lobby with an amazingl replica of the Devils Postpiles and a beautiful lounge next to the delicious Whitebark restaurant. A short walk away and your at the Village gondola, your ride to the slopes. In the summer the mountain bike tram picks up in front of the gondola station or you can catch the free red trolley shuttle that will take you virtually anywhere within Mammoth even up to the lakes. Not into biking on the dirt? Load your bikes on the trolley and head up to Horseshoe lake for a 30 minute bike ride back down along a paved bike path--perfect for families. It's all right there such that you might forget you brought a car. Lastly, I allow dogs. As a big animal and dog lover I appreciate when guests include their dog in their vacations as I bring my dog everywhere as well. That said I rely on my guests to bring well behaved, non-destructive and potty trained dogs. Once a dog soils in the unit other dogs are much more likely too as well, therefore if a guests dog does go to the bathroom in the unit I will charge a minimum of $50.00. Guests are fully responsible for their dogs--please see to it that they don't soil or damage the unit or bark. Also please use the doggie pad/blanket I’ve provided if they get up on the couch or bed ... It should be in the bedroom closet—it looks like a small throw. It is soft and comfy for your furry beast.

Great location. Great amenities. On second floor just steps away from the SPA, Pool, and Gym. Smallest dishwasher I have ever seen, but perfect for a studio. Lots of steps from building to gondola, but if you are staying here to ski or hike it should be easily able to handle them. Comfortable be and couch. Nice fireplace and deck. New construction has blocked some of the view but still good ventilation with the patio door open.
First of all, you are not staying at the Westin hotel; no services, no pool towels, no “heavenly bed”. The bed actually has a hump in the middle and was probably comfortable when it was new. Linens are old. Kids slept in sofa bed and were very uncomfortable. Lastly, the “view” is no more. You are now looking at new construction of condos.Expensive for what you get.
Weather and life got in the way of us being able to make it up to Mammoth to enjoy this unit, so this review is really about the host, who is absolutely fantastic. The host was was very communicative and understanding of our situation. Went above and beyond to help us out -- super flexible and accommodating in helping us with exploring solutions and alternatives to make our trip work out. A++++!!!
This property was exactly how it was advertised. We were pleased with every element of our stay. The property was clean and cute with an amazing balcony view. The location self-check-in and underground parking were perfect.
What an amazing 4-night stay at the Westin. Checkin was a breeze, the host was super nice. The room is a 30 second run to the pool/jacuzzi which was AMAZING, especially for young kids who get cold fast. Being in the Westin was great, because you had access to the full service bar, the restaurant and coffee in the lobby. The view from the balcony was spectacular, and the photography/art decorations were amazing. Super happy with our decision to stay here, thanks for having us!
We stayed Thursday to Sunday it was an excellent get away for our dog, my spouse, and I. The property has many amenities that made the trip convenient and pleasurable. The pool, hot tubs, gym, parking, restaurant, Village access, and staff were all clean, available, friendly, and as described. The unit we stayed in was comfortable and cozy. We had a wonderful experience in Mammoth Lakes, Yosemite, and the local area hot springs; as this was a first time visit for my spouse the location of the property / unit tied it all together perfectly. In addition, the pet friendly option was great as well, my spouse is very attached to our dog and allowed us the option to bring her on our getaway trip. The only regret I have about our trip is that it wasn't long enough, I could have stayed several more nights. The owner of this property was very nice, easy to work with, and quickly responded to all communications. I would highly recommend this property to anyone and will be returning myself soon.
The Westin has an ideal location next to the Village just across from the Gondola. Not only do the property allow dogs they love them!!! The unit was exactly as described. The check-in instructions were very clear and the process was fast and painless. The bed was very confortable and the kitchen had everything we needed for our 5 night stay. We will be back!
Convenient but definitely some recommendations / heads up
Very conveniently located at the village and unit is down the hall from the gym/pool/jacuzzi!
Comfortable main bed, great size bathroom and balcony. charming and intimate look and feel.
However: dishwasher was full (I emptied it)
-Food pieces under the sofa (visible when pulling out the bed)
-Someone's socks and lots of dust bunnies under the main bed
-vacuum canister was very full
-Bathroom hand soap was watered down and almost empty
- 1 ply toilet paper...really? Its torture on your bottom and on your nose! No tissue / kleenex...really? This is a high end resort.
-toaster needs replacing, only 1 frying pan that is cheap, handle loose and no more non stick so not convenient for cooking.
-fridge that is tiny, loose from the wall and no freezer section and not as cold as it needs to be.
-worlds smallest and cheapest coffee maker. Good for 1 but try brewing for several.
-sofa bed is extremely uncomfortable. Gel mattress great but the bar across the bed against your back and pitched the wrong way is horrible. Had to put mattress on the floor.
-Not enough hooks and bars to hang towels (there's room for more).
-3 hangers in the closet for up to 4 guests??
-Maybe put a rack of shelving in the living room for more guest storage.
Sleeps 4 but def does not accommodate 4. Convenient..ish...but what I paid..c'mon!! Next!
First I will highlight the positives. The location was ideal being walking distance to the village and gondola and being a part of the Westin. I liked that there was no carpet in the condo. However when I folded up the pull out couch I found a rock hard dog feces on the area rug in the living room. And the blankets were all covered in white dog hair. We texted the owner and got no reply. We submitted a message on VRBO and at 9:30pm he replied that if we got a new room THAT NIGHT he would refund us for that night. We were already asleep when we got the message. The next day I texted him and got no reply. Then I sent another text the following day with no reply. If I was the owner and got a message from a tenant about finding dog feces in the house I would be mortified and contact them immediately to address the situation. I don’t know what was worse. The dog feces or not even caring enough to reply to us.
Location and convenience are great! Nice home base for adventuring out during the day. Covered parking is a nice bonus. Note that there is construction happening on the front side of the property, but seems to be contained to the weekdays. Did not bother us. The restaurant downstairs has great food and drinks for when you don’t want to walk across the street to the village. Another great stay - thank you !
This property was clean and comfortable and you can’t beat the location, it was just steps away from everything you needed.
Jeff was great at explaining everything and got back to us very shortly if we had any questions.
Will definitely stay here again.
