Lakefront, private dock & deck, dog friendly, fast wifi on crystal clear Panther
This lakefront cabin with a charming deck, is set just 25 feet from the water. Panther Pond, a mile wide and two miles long, remains quiet with limited motor boating, even in the height of summer. There is a deep water dock and mooring, a sandy bottom and a swimming raft. Boats for your use include 3 Kayaks, 2 Paddle Boards, a sunfish sailboat and a 12' John boat with oars. Crescent Lake can be accessed by the Tenney River, and Panther Pond feeds into Sebago Lake. Rattlesnake Mountain trail leads to a great view of the Lakes Region and the White Mountains. Enjoy the sound of loons and watch for bald eagles soaring overhead.

Liz is one of the best hosts we’ve ever stayed with. Communicative and the house was stocked chock-full with spices and paper towels, and TP and even an orange and some other fresh fruit when we arrived. The deck is sublime-incredible views while sitting in the middle of a forest almost, in the shade.
My family of four (kids 9 and 13) stayed for a week and had a blast. The cottage is comfortable and has everything you could need, both inside and out. And of course, Panther Pond is awesome.
We could not have been happier with this little slice of heaven on Panther pond. We made the best memories here with our kids, fishing, paddle boarding, sailing and enjoying the peace and quiet of the lake. The house is adorable and had everything we needed. We can't wait to come back next year!
This was our first family trip to Maine and we could not have asked for a better place to stay for a relaxing week on a beautiful Maine lake. Panther Pond is on the quiet side with some boating activity but not the crazy chaotic kind. The home was well furnished and came with a lot of amenities to take advantage of the lake - kayaks, paddleboards, floats, sail boat, etc. The deck has a great view of the lake and we used the grill and fire pit that were provided as well. The home was clean and comfortable. Liz checked in to make sure all was okay. The community is very friendly and the area had several good restaurants and we even played a round of mini golf. We would highly recommend this property!
We really enjoyed our time on Panther Pond. The lake water is clear, clean, and overall fairly quiet compared to some of the bigger lakes around this area. The camp had everything we needed with an incredible view of the lake, so close to the water! The new dock gave us plenty of room to sit by the water. Also, there were fire works all around the lake on both the 3rd and 4th. Liz is a great host and I would recommend this to any family looking for a "lake life" vacation.
We loved spending time at Panther Pond. The house was perfect and fit our family of 5, the rooms were small but comfortable. I especially loved the quiet mornings reading out on the deck, enjoying the call of the loons. The house had several life jackets and the kids loved the paddle board and kayaks. Liz was a wonderful host and very responsive. The house had everything we needed.
The property is has an incredible view of the lake, and the access to the lake is excellent. The house is clean and comfortable and the kitchen is well equipped for meal preparation. Swimming, fishing, kayaking and paddle-boarding on/in a large, clean and in many sections, heavily wooded and natural Maine lake is only a few steps away from the back deck. Although on the weekends and evenings the powerboat and waterskiing scene picks up, for a lake of this size, paddle sport enthusiasts are going to have a hard time finding a location more inviting and rewarding.
My husband and family had a wonderful weekend in Raymond. We were able to kayak and paddleboard every day and the dock was a relaxing place for coffee and watching the sunset. We would definitely be back next year!
We had an enjoyable week on Panther Pond. The cottage was right on the water and the view amazing. The property was as described and we were able to go kayaking almost every day. We would stay there again. Thanks to Liz for letting us use her cabin.
Had a wonderful week on Panther Pond! The house was clean, organized and had everything you needed to have a good time and enjoy the lake. We loved our time on the lake and look forward to another week next year. I truly recommend this special oasis to anyone that needs to get away and have a relaxing time enjoying all the beauty of Panther Pond and have the comforts of a home.
We had a great week on Panther Pond! The cottage is well set up and very comfortable. The lake and view of an undeveloped peninsula are beautiful. The cottage is nestled in with other cottages in a neighborhood, but it is still very private and peaceful. We would definitely stay here again!
We loved staying here! The hosts generously shared lots of water equipment, which made our visit even more fun. The pond is perfect for swimming and boating. The location of the house is excellent, with a calm view of a peninsula. The neighbors were pleasant and the whole area is relaxing and easy to navigate. The house had everything we needed and was just as described. We hope to be able to visit again. It was really a wonderful place for all ages.
Well stocked home with comfortable beds. Recently renovated upstairs, and couldn’t beat the water access. Lots of toys to get out on the water with and enjoy summer in Maine.
Our stay at the Panther Pond cabin was enjoyable. In the mornings when there is no wind at all, the lake is absolutely beautiful. There are many nearby restaurants and grocery stores, most are less than a 10minute drive away. For seafood, we particularly liked the lobster rolls at a nearby hole-in-the-wall place called Fisherman's catch, and the bbq at Buck's Naked BBQ was great. You are in good hands renting from these owners, their communication with us was excellent from the moment we initially contacted them about renting the cabin. While we were there we had a minor issue that occurred relating to some services at the cabin, and the owners dealt with it very swiftly and to our satisfaction.
What a wonderful cabin for a stay on Panther Pond. It is very spacious and clean. The kitchen was stocked with everything we needed. There was everything we needed for water activities too. Although we were only a party of two, there is plenty of space for a family to spread out and not be on top of each other.
Panther Pond itself is a very nice size for exploring. We went out in the kayaks almost every day. We could hear and see the loons every day.
Our host Liz was very easy to communicate with and very responsive to questions.
I would recommend this cabin and look forward to returning for a visit.
This classic Maine camp enjoys a special location in a quiet cove on one of Maine’s quietest and prettiest lakes. Having spent summers on this lake as a child, 65 years later the lake is remarkably the same. The view from the deck is spectacular, looking across to one of the last untouched peninsulas on the lake. The neighbors were quiet and respectful— and this classic camp took us back a bygone era.
The owners are friendly, responsive and consistently helpful. The camp is well supplied and has all the conveniences of a modern home. There are two kayaks, a rowboat and a sailboat to explore the lake, along with all necessary safety equipment. Our two weeks were peaceful and restful, passing all too quickly. My wife and I highly recommend this special property. We’ve been back twice and look forward to returning. Our stay reminded us of what a writer years ago wrote about summer in Maine— "God is in his heaven…. but he’d rather be in Maine"!
Very nice location. A quite time of year on Panther Pond.
A great cabin for a great vacation. Been coming to Panther for many years, it never disappoints. Liz & John do a great job with the house, good communication and very accommodating. Thank you very much for sharing your Maine home.
This cottage at Panther Pond is cozy and rustic. It is well equipped in terms of kitchen tools and playing in the pond. There are plenty of books, movies and board games for rainy days. We found the dock area to be great for swimming and our kids caught a ton of fish while standing on the dock. Liz is responsive and easy to communicate with. The only reason I would hesitate to book this property again is the lack of towels and linens. We live in Colorado and fly to Maine so bringing sheets, bath towels and lake towels is a bit cumbersome. Upon our arrival we were provided with two bath towels, two hand towels and two washcloths for a total of five people. Liz was able to provide us with adequate sheets, but typically only supplies one set of queen sheets. Given that we are traveling from so far away, we need a cottage that is a bit more turnkey upon arrival. Other than that we had a great stay.
The property was as described, clean, hospitable, and we had a lovely time. The only thing we would have changed (and this is no ones fault at all) is the nearness of neighbors. They were mostly quiet and respectful of our peace, but I would prefer a more isolated location next time around. Again, we knew in advance that there were close neighbors, and it wasn't a surprise. Lastly, Liz, the owner, was VERY responsive to all questions and comments.

Spectacular views & comfy, cozy cabin
Our family spent every possible moment outdoors during our visit to this cabin. The owners did a lovely job in providing for our needs (especially nice to have lots of fans since we had a couple of 90 degree days!). Panther Pond is a delightfully peaceful location that is convenient to Windham. Looking forward to returning next summer!

About the host
Hosted by John Schmidt and Liz Vogel
Liz Vogel and John Schmidt live in Bethesda, MD. Liz works in the IT industry and John is retired. They have four children - three daughters and a son.
Why they chose this property
Liz and John have been coming to Maine for years to enjoy Maine summers. All the children have gone to local camps and have grown up on Maine lakes. The call of the loons, catching a bald eagle soaring overhead, and the beauty of the lake make for a perfect vacation. We hope you enjoy it as much as we do.
What makes this property unique
This cabin is ideal for four season activities. Enjoy the lake as a waterfront retreat during the summer, or explore the local area for adventures. The lake shores and rural back roads are beautiful during fall foliage. In winter, try ice fishing, snowmobiles, cross country skiing, or downhill skiing at nearby mountains. Sunday River Ski area is just a 45 minute drive. Watch spring arrive as ice retreats and open water fishing and boating resumes.
