Full on and private Lake Michigan water views abound at our historic family cottage, The Seagull Lodge. You’ll enjoy exceptional privacy and fabulous lake or woods views from all rooms. See and hear the waves from inside and out! Spectacular open lake front property and only steps to the wide open sandy beach. Stunning sunrises and moon rises over Lake Michigan from the inside, on the lawn and on the sand.
This unique cottage is highlighted by a 50 foot glass enclosed lake front porch. It is adorned with colorful hand painted furniture, an inviting large dining table, a vintage rocker collection, and custom designed upholstery. Should you choose to chill in a rocker or take a snooze on the daybed, the lake porch is a visitor favorite. Please take a moment to sign our Guest Book and add your Cottage Memory to our journal.
We are a seasonal property, renting May through October.
Our large master bedroom upstairs has outstanding lake views, queen size bed, air conditioning, ceiling fan, desk/work station, dresser, many hanging hooks and cozy, view-filled reading area.
The remaining upstairs has one twin bed, a double bed, ceiling fan, a view filled reading area with 2 comfy chairs, a toy suitcase and lots of space for playing and port a cribs. There also is a full bathroom upstairs.
The Porch Bedroom has a queen bed, ceiling fan, 2 dressers, plus a private entrance to porch.
The Peach Bedroom has a queen bed, ceiling fan, lots of hanging hooks and dresser.
Somewhat dated kitchen with new range/oven, microwave, coffee maker/filters and ample storage and dish drying areas.
Pullout daybed (trundle on bottom) with privacy curtains on lake front porch sleeps 2 with amazing views and sounds of this Great Lake; a favorite location!
Large Roku TV and DVD players and discs in living room with wood burning fireplace. (Firewood sold at local grocery stores.) You may sign into your streaming accounts, but be certain to sign out. Game room with large collection of games and books (adult, reference, children), including our "Seagull Share" bookshelf. Super table for puzzles and board games. Electric radio for tunes.
Please note that we have a No Animals/ Pet policy in agreement with the neighbors on our cozy lane. We charge a cleaning fee and $5 per guest per night with groups over 6.

Wonderfully relaxing stay

Our family enjoyed 10 days on the beach. The cottage is set up beautifully with everything you need. Walking on the beach, enjoying the water and a fire at night brought memorable moments for my entire family. We are so happy to have stayed here.

Great Cottage on Lake Michigan

We enjoyed our week at Seagull Cottage. The weather was great and we took advantage of the sandy beach every day. The cottage had everything we needed. The large porch overlooking the lake was terrific for meals and just relaxing.

Great stay! Amazing beach!

We stayed with our three small kids for two nights and absolutely loved it. The cottage is small but had everything we needed, the online information and description is 100% accurate. The beach is absolutely the draw of this place!!! So much wide open sand, it’s private, not rocky, and the water is about as warm as you can for Lake Michigan. We would definitely stay again!

The Perfect Beach Cottage

Serenity

The Seagull Cottage was a perfect place for our family of four to unwind on the sandy beach of Lake Michigan. The cottage is stocked with anything you need, and everything is organized and easy to find. Our stay was very peaceful, I think we saw maybe a dozen people walking the beach over our six day stay. The cottage and town is full of history, and we recommend visiting the dirt track races on Saturday night in Plymouth. We could not have asked for a better place to stay, or a better host. Mary was extremely responsive and made sure that we knew all of the ins and outs. We highly recommend this property of a day stay or a month!

Wedding Weekend

I booked this lovely house for my family during my wedding weekend and it was the most beautiful stay! The house is full of so much history and we all loved reading the stories that went along with it. The location was beautiful and we’re so lucky to have gotten the opportunity to make our own memories there. The hosts were so nice and accommodating, we really enjoyed our stay and hope to be back!

Quiet with beautiful beach

My family and I had a very nice stay at the Seagull Lodge. I personally loved how peaceful and quiet it was, my kids loved the sandy beach and sand bottom in the water, while my wife loved the long walks on the sandy shoreline. The home itself is a little old, but it had everything we needed, plus the enclosed front porch area was just great for sitting and watching the water or eating at the large table. My kids have already said that they want to rent it next year.

Better than imagined!

Perfect multi family getaway. The beach is super close to the house. The back porch is fully screened in and totally perfect - we ate all our meals out there. You can hear the waves crashing in as you sleep. All the basics and more are provided for and signs and instructions are perfectly clear. 110% satisfied customers!

Quaint historic Dutch cottage on sandy Lake Michigan. Cottage had all the comforts of home with multiple areas for family members to gather. The porch along the lakeside of the cottage was a wonderful space to hang out in the evenings. Kitchen was well equipped with adequate counters and cupboard space to store our food. Hosts were very attentive and responsive.

Fantastic experience!

We had an absolutely wonderful time at Seagull Lodge! The beach was just beautiful and we spent hours and hours in the sand and water each day. The views were stunning! The house was smaller than what we are used to, but our group of 10 (+baby) still fit comfortably there and enjoyed the variety of games, toys, and movies that the hosts provided. We loved the Dutch decor and the welcome windmill cookies were such a fun touch! We loved the nearby town of Oostburg and took walks in the neighborhood where goldenrod and other beautiful wildflowers bloomed. Mary was easy to communicate with and answered all of my questions promptly! It was definitely a trip to remember!

Relax back in Time!

We have stayed at many VRBO's throughout the country and this made us feel the most at home out of any! I would love to know more about the history of Seagull Lodge because you can feel all the memories that have been made there right when you walk in. The views from the porch are amazing. Plenty of space for everyone. My 13 year old loved sleeping on the daybed and listening to the waves. Spent all day down enjoying the beach, board games after supper followed by a movie before bed. Loved the Seagull Share mini library, toys, beach chairs and towels available. Felt like we were staying at our Aunt and Uncle's house. Very private area but easy to get to Oostburg, Cedar Grove and only 20 minutes to Sheboygan. We would love to return here someday!

The Seagull Lodge is a beautiful comfortable cottage right on Lake Michigan.

The Seagull Lodge is a charming cottage that showcases the Dutch heritage of the families who lived here and who have transformed it into a lovely lakeside cottage in modern times. We loved hanging out in the comfortable long porch that faces the lake, the large lawn and beach area. The bright design of the kitchen was well equipped to work in. You can see the lake from every room. We fell asleep to the swishing of the waves crashing onto the shore at night. We took walks on the beach and the wooded lane behind the house, swam in the cold lake water as the waves crashed into us and kayaked when the lake was calm. The kids played for hours where the sand met the water. The shallow beach made it very safe for children. It was a wonderful Lake Michigan experience.

Just perfect. The house and beach great for kids!

This house and property was absolutely perfect. The house was super cute, cozy, and loved all of the attention to the details. I read the families story of their home the first night and got alittle teary eyed. The beach was a DREAM for small children. Shallow and didn’t have to worry about my 3 year old. The water is so clear and looked like the Caribbean depending on the sun. The little creek next to the house was also so much fun for the kids. The water was cold but that didn’t stop any of us! Inside the beds were comfy and finding the toys upstairs for the kids was a nice surprise. Super clean! The day bed on the porch was my reading spot. I haven’t taken the time to read a book in years. We enjoyed coffee on the back porch as well in the rocking chairs. We ended up having to leave a couple days early but we can’t wait to come back. Thank you for sharing your home with us!

Why they chose this property

The Seagull Lodge is located on land that has been in my mother's family since the late 1800's. My husband, son and I are fortunate to be the current owners of this property. Since we are not able to get there as often as we would like, we decided to list our cottage for use by others who, we are certain, will find it as special as we do. Our sons honed their crawling skills on the beach, learned to bike up hills on Smies Road, became strong swimmers by challenging each other to make it to the second sandbar and have spent hour after hour playing in the sand. The four of us (now along with their significant others) continue to gather at the cottage every summer. The Seagull Lodge is a wonderfully peaceful, laid-back, private, and magical place. We are certain you will create your own memories with a stay at our property.

What makes this property unique

When I come to the cottage I don't like to leave. For quick trips into town I prefer to bike with my backpack to hold the groceries. I love the natural beauty of our lake and wooded surroundings and relish the peaceful; yet dramatic setting. Long walks on the beach and country roads are a favorite as well as reading, socializing, working on projects, and playing games with family and friends.
