Top of Varneys Range

Getaway & relax in a lovely small group holiday house in the Snowy Mountains region. Top of the Range is 1200m above sea level and located 8 km's out of Berridale & 13km from East Jindabyne on the Kosciuszko Rd . This country home provides lodge style accommodation with a large lounge/dining room, a well equipped kitchen and a separate laundry/drying room. It has a large covered veranda with 180 degree panoramic views of the countryside. There are 2x Queen size bedrooms with Ensuites, and 2x Double bedrooms sharing a third bathroom. There is also a separate toilet. The 300 hectare property has many kilometres of bush tracks which abound in native flora and fauna. Our spacious grounds and entertainment areas are perfect for the family or group booking.
To the west is the main snowy range & from the house you can look down the Thredbo valley to Crackenback top station & Mt Kosciuszko. At night you can see the lights at the top of the Thredbo chairlift. As we are in the Snowy Mountains region, you have vistas with and without snow depending on the season you visit, and you have the seclusion of the bush all around.
To the East we look across the Monaro plains to the Wadbilliga National Park & the coastal ranges above Narooma, Tilba Tilba & Bega.

Flora & Fauna

There is a diverse selection of plants, trees, fungi and mosses with a beautiful display of native wildflowers to be admired while out strolling, walking, hiking or braving the more adventurous mountain bike trails on the 300 hectare property. Many visitors head to the creek valley for a change of scenery. There is a 200-metre drop from the ridge to the creek bed and Coolamatong Lake. At Top of the Range you are right among many of our unique native animals. These include Kangaroos, Wallabies, Echidna, Wombats & Emus. We also have Deer & Alpacas roaming around the property.
Our 300 hectare property has many kilometres of dirt roads & rugged bush tracks for the mountain bike, trail bike, & bushwalkiing enthusiasts.
We have a deep river gorge at the back of the property with a vertical drop of about 200 metres, which will test the most capable mountain climber. It is about 1.5 km from the house, so a good energetic morning stroll away.

Location

The property is 45 minutes drive to the Thredbo & Perisher Valley ski slopes.
Mt Selwyn snowfields are about 75 minutes away.
In summer, trout fishing in the lakes & mountain streams is also very close at hand, with Lake Jindabyne 10 minutes away, & the Thredbo river & Lake Eucumbene only 25 minutes drive.
