About this property

2BR Cabin Nestled in Towering Pines on a quiet lake. Pets accepted!

Our family-friendly cabin, located on West Crooked Lake Resort, is a very clean, modern, and well maintained cabin. The large main bedroom contains a full bed and twin bunks and the second bedroom a full bed. The living area has a comfortable futon that can sleep 2, so the cabin sleeps up to 8 people. The main bedroom has a sliding glass patio door with access to an extra large deck where you can relax under the shade of pine trees and enjoy a wonderful view of the resort and West Crooked Lake.

The cabin has a large deck, picnic table, charcoal grill, lawn chairs, TV/DVD, A/C, and comes with a fully equipped kitchen that includes a microwave, stove, oven, coffee maker, and all the accompanying dishes, pots and pans, and utensils.

We provide bed linens and towels. We supply toilet paper, paper towels, dish soap, and hand soap. This is a non-smoking cabin.

One dock slip is included with the cabin for the fishermen in the group. We have a pontoon and fishing boats to rent if you don't have your own but want to fish or tour beautiful West Crooked Lake.

West Crooked Lake Resort, nestled along 400 feet of lakeshore, is a family-friendly resort located in the Paul Bunyan State Forest, surrounded by towering pines situated on the northeast shore of West Crooked Lake. Located in a quiet wooded area, the cabins sit on spacious grounds overlooking a secluded, beautiful lake. While our location is quiet and serene, we are only 15 miles NE of Park Rapids, MN and 15 miles SW of Walker, MN, where opportunities for shopping, dining, and recreation are plentiful.

We provide activities on the resort for everyone. West Crooked Lake Resort offers relaxation and enjoyment for the entire family. You can enjoy sun bathing on the sandy beach, swimming in the clear water, playing on the Rave Water Park, or reading a book in the shade. Listen to the loons calling, watch eagles soar overhead, glide through the clear waters in a canoe or paddleboat, or just bring a book, relax, and catch some rays on the sandy beach. For the fishermen, West Crooked Lake hosts a large variety of fish including Walleye, Northern, Bass, Perch, Crappie and Sunfish.

Many area attractions are just minutes from the resort. Biking/walking trails, golf courses, casinos, a fun park, a local winery (tours available), horseback riding, shopping and restaurants, and the Headwaters of the Mississippi in Itasca State Park are just a few of the attractions you will find.

Wonderful family vacation

Our family had a great experience at the cabin and resort. The cabin was comfortable and had everything we needed. The beach was amazing and our kids loved playing with all of the water toys and boats that were offered to us at no cost. The staff was super helpful and checked in with us throughout our stay to see if there was anything else we needed. Would definitely recommend this resort!

Quick and Excellent Get Away from the Twin Cities

We were looking to stay close to Lake Itasca and found this place which turned out to be a great choice. The owner thought about and provided those small and many amenities that made our stay so comfortable. Her staff was so helpful.

Clean, friendly, calm and peaceful resort!

Once we arrived we notice just how cute and quaint this resort would be. Cabin #5 was immaculate and fit our family of 4-5 perfectly. Susan and Darren were the most awesome hosts. The beach area was sandy and the water was a perfect temp to take a dip in. Lots of activities to do at the beach. When you go to West Crooked Lake resort, you truly feel like your in a little place of heaven.

Justy what we needed!

A beautiful place to get away to relax and enjoy the lake. This place was perfect in every way. Very clean, well stocked kitchen, towels, bedding and some paper products provided. Everything has its own place, so there is no searching to find what you need. The beach is beautifully maintained and water toys are plenty. Very kind care takers, too! So glad I found this treasure!

Restful retreat!

Nice little group of cabins on a quiet lake, loon calls every morning! Great place to just hang out or to use as base camp for exploring the area. Close to Itaska, plus lots of other little towns to explore, full of Up-North charm.

Wonderful family get away!

This was a last minute reservation for our family. I used VRBO to see what cabins might still be available for the 4th of July weekend. After researching and looking at reviews, West Crooked Lake was our choice. I am always a bit skeptical about reviews, but they were spot on. The owner Susan and staff, Marianne and Jim went above and beyond to make sure our family had a great experience! Cabin was a bit small for our family of four but was clean, kitchen was well stocked, AND they allowed our dog to come!

A Nice Place to Land

We had a very enjoyable stay at West Crooked Lake Resort. The cabin was ultra clean. The lake is clear and great for boating and fishing. We also liked the wooded setting away from the main road.

Fantastic!

My family and I thoroughly enjoyed our time at the resort. We plan on going back next year as well. The cabin was clean and very comfortable. The only reason I am not giving it 5 starts is because I believe there is always room for improvement.

Great place to relax

We had a great time at West Crooked lake resort. It was on a dirt road, but it was very easy to get to and we had not problems getting to and from the resort. You do not need a truck or 4WD to get to the resort. The cabin was clean and very well maintained. It had everything we needed. The grill on the deck was great. There was a small sandy beach which was great for the kids to play in the sand and for swimming. There was 2 docks that we caught small panfish off of which my son just loved. We brought our dog with us and she had a great time too. Susan was a great hostess and was very helpful. I would strongly recommend this resort and we will be back next year.

Early Fall Getaway

Found this small resort on VRBO for an impromptu beginning of fall get away with some friends. Great, small, secluded resort with wonderful lake view. Simple, adorable little cabin; great deck off the front of the cabin that overlooks the lake; access to the deck from main entrance and the master bedroom. Fire pit down by the lake and fabulous trees for my friend's hammock - also with a perfect lake view. Great location. Not far from 2 great state parks! NOTE: It is all gravel roads to this place! I would not suggest a low vehicle; ideally a minivan/truck/SUV or 4WD, especially if it has recently rained!

West Crooked Lake and the surrounding area is nature at its best. As you look around you will see tall pines, wild flowers, abundant wildlife and a home to a family of loons. West Crooked Lake Resort was originally known as Timberlost Resort & Campground and was owned by the Jerrold and Doris Skadberg family for over 25 years. The Skadberg family had been coming from North Dakota to the Park Rapids area for their family vacations for decades and they came to love the trees, lakes and wildlife. In 1979, they decided to purchase Timberlost and to make Minnesota their permanent home. Several of their nine children, including myself, Susan, were involved over the years in helping Jerrold and Doris operate the resort.

In 2003, I purchased a portion of Timberlost Resort and established West Crooked Lake Resort and constructed a new cabin and remodeled existing cabins with a northern decor to welcome all. I became familiar with the resort business through the years of helping my family with Timberlost Resort and decided to continue the resort tradition that my parents had started. Prior to purchasing the resort, I was an owner of a software development company and still work for that company. I enjoy getting away from my Dillon, CO residence to relax at our Up North resort with my two children, Nathan and Tomiko.

Why they chose this property

Family is very important to me and it is wonderful that we can keep this beautiful lake resort in our family.

What makes this property unique

When you visit West Crooked Lake Resort, you can forget what is happening in the rest of the world and completely relax for a few days. You can really enjoy your vacation in the woods.
