ARCHITECT-DESIGNED WITH RAINFOREST AND OCEAN VIEWS
Yarrawa Hill is an architect-designed contemporary house, perched on the Illawarra escarpment just a few minutes outside Robertson, with spectacular views through native rainforest and bushland, out to the Pacific Ocean. Nestled in 156 acres of tall Eucalypt forest, rainforest and rolling paddocks, Yarrawa Hill is a private and peaceful retreat, with the wallabies, lyrebirds and rosellas your only neighbours.

With three large decks and a large patio with rainforest garden, and the central Great Room with floor to ceiling windows, it is a house that connects you to nature and its beautiful surrounds.

AN ART AND ANTIQUES PARADISE
The Great Room is at the heart of the home, with soaring ceiling and double height glass walls on three sides to maximise the sea and bush views. The huge open fireplace and large leather couches make this space ideal for relaxing in summer and winter.

The modern glass and steel design of the home is balanced by the blackbutt timber floor and a stunning collection of antique Indonesian furniture and artefacts, adding a deep sense of warmth and character:
• 19th century Indonesian teak doors throughout
• Dutch colonial four poster beds, one from the 18th century and two from the late 19th century
• Early 20th century colonial furnishings including tables and mirrors, crafted by Javanese and Chinese makers
• Antique round Indonesian dining table for lazy brunches and long dinners
• Javanese wooden figurines
• Large antique chests from Madura, an island off the coast of Java
• Earthenware jars and plates from Lombok
• Floor tiles from Surabaya
• Antique daybeds
• Original artworks, Mexican terracotta collection, theatre posters, music sheets, and other curios from global travels

WHAT OUR GUESTS SAY
“The reaction of visitors, including us, upon entering the main room is WOW! It is elegantly and eclectically furnished with beautiful Indonesian furniture, and film and music memorabilia. It is a wonderful mix of large space and private areas.

“Light filled, with spectacular views from the many windows and balconies of all the main rooms including the bedrooms, the house feels part of its natural environment. It does not seem to matter what the weather is like. We have been there during hot summers, cold weather, storms and racing fogs, the house allows you to observe in wonder but still be comfortable and protected.

“Part of the joy is the flora and fauna. In season, the bush is full of flowers. There are lots of rosellas, lorikeets, cockatoos and the occasional eagle off the escarpment as well as resident lyre birds. Wallabies are regular visitors and wombats are around most nights (best seen around dawn or after dusk).“
– Des and Anne-Marie, May 2018

“A big wow! Loved the house, location and views. The magical Harry Potter mist that rolled in added to the romance of this beautiful house.”
- Kevin & Margaret, Sydney, October 2017

“An amazing and unique retreat.”

Such a unique property
This is the most amazing property. We loved the serenity of the location and the generosity of space. We felt like a friend had offered us their home to stay for the weekend; it is not your standard holiday rental property. Michael, the property manager, is top notch and an absolute dream to liaise with, so responsive and efficient.

The property is a very unique house, filled with many beautiful personal touches of the owners. If it were not for the mice who made our night somewhat miserable it would have been the perfect place to relax and enjoy.

One of the best holiday places we’ve stayed at. The house had everything we needed and Mike was friendly and easy to communicate with. Our favourite room was the living and dining room which could easily fit 15 people.

A truly beautiful house with the most spectacular views.
We absolutely loved our stay here. The house was so interesting and eclectic but wonderfully warm and welcoming. The views from sunrise to sunset were amazing - as were the stars after dark! The bush land setting was so peaceful although the lyre bird, wombats and black cockatoos made sure we knew they were out there. Communication with Michael from booking through to checkout was fantastic. Can’t wait to go back again!

Just magical
The house just felt magical, nestled as it is in the gorgeous bushland with a view down to the sea. Although our visit was in the height of summer, we were blessed with a week of cold and rain. This might have ruined our holiday, if not for the comfort of the house. It is well-appointed with everything you might need, and things are easy to find which is most helpful! We were a group of four friends, and the house gave us wonderful spaces to retreat to on our own as well as be together. We will definitely be coming back!

Can’t fault, loved every minute.
Wow, this magnificent property did not disappoint. We were hoping for a relaxing break and that began the minute we walked in. Everything is here to ensure a restful and enjoyable holiday from the magnificent wood fires to a whole wall of books. We found time to read, talk and thoroughly unwind. Our dogs loved it too - new sniffs and lying in front of the open fire was an absolute treat for them. It’s so beautifully maintained and managed, we will definitely be back. Thank you to Miriam and Michael, you were a pleasure to deal with.

An amazing place to stay
This property is spacious and is the perfect place to get away, relax and recharge. You have access to all the comforts you need and the place is well heated for those cold Robertson temperatures. You wake up to a spectacular view each morning and can relax in front of the cosy fireplace. The property manager communicates well and is easy to deal with. Highly recommended!

Exceeded our expectations in every way! We spent the while time commenting on how wonderful it was!
Just traveling to this amazing location was the beginning of the stress of the world melting away! Everything about this location is jaw dropping and it doesnt stop until you leave! The amazing view is the first thing before exploring the house which through every door you open up to a new surprise. Each of us had our own living quarters to escape to and we’d all meet in the main living area to enjoy everything this place has to offer. Our puppies have never been so excited about visiting a new place. They had a great time. Definitely need a lot more time to stay here and absorb everything. Theres nothing that hasnt been thought of and available!! The open fire was the highlight! After the view. Mike made everything simple to get us in and enjoy our time. Thank you Mike. Will definitely be coming back!!

Great Bushland Escape close to Sydney
We booked 2 night stay away from Sydney and enjoyed the property and location immensely. It is a very large and spacious property with great views along the coast line and into the surrounding forrest. An excellent feature is that each bedroom has an ensuite and a seperate sitting area making it ideal for singles or couples sharing together. The property is secluded and private and we spotted plenty of wildlife in the area surrounding the house. It is also only a short drive to the Robertson township for supplies and meals out if desired. Thanks to Mike and Robb for providing directions, setting up the heating etc. and opening up for us, a great service.

Great location. Fab house.
From the moment of entering this house and stepping into the tiled gallery, it was a journey of discovery that didn't really stop over 4 days. Great views, clever design, thoughtful layout. If I ever build my own place, I'll be knicking some of those ideas. My elderly parents thoroughly enjoyed the warm luxury of their own suite, complete with heated bathroom floor, sunroom and kitchenette. Added surprise of watching myriad animals from the comfort of above. Loved it.

Yarrawa Hill retreat
We really enjoyed our stay - the only minor issue was the central heating, which seemed to be out of synch timing wise. Had to light fire(s) in the early mornings, then it came on after breakfast! Also came on progressively later in the afternoon and evenings, so had the fire going more than we might have otherwise (and used more wood the expected). Wouldn't hesitate in recommending to others, the size of the house is a bit overwhelming for one couple but great for a lager group. Visitors on the Sunday loved it and it was the best day weather wise, so overall a very positive experience and unique situation - the library is great! Michael is very easy going and helpful - thanks! Gary and Sandra

Generously equiped and very cosy in winter
This is a beautifully designed house with plenty of space for privacy if you want it but also a very sociable hub in the heart of the house. We stayed in winter but it was so warm, heated floors, roaring fires, electric blankets and sun streaming into every room. It was a pleasure to be there. A fair drive to most places but worth it for the peace and quiet perched on top of the hill amongst the trees. We will come back!
