We love Pirates Bay!!

This was our third time to stay here at Pirates Bay. We love the location and the phenomenal view and pool!! The huge pool is our favorite! We were very comfortable. It was quiet and peaceful and we rested well. The unit is a good size for two people. We plan to come back!!

Pros and Cons

Beautiful view and pool area is really nice and well kept. Not all the codes given worked, but some people there let me into the pool area. The biggest issue I had with this place is the mattress!! It was so hard, it wasn’t even comfortable to sit on. Not much different from the floor tbh. Also, there is no real blanket with any type of warmth, so I slept in sweats. The furniture is rearranged differently than the photos so I would update those. Also, a 10am checkout time is aggressive. Especially when they are already knocking at your door at 8:30am to see if you’ve left already. Not cool. But the place was clean and it was fine for a couple of nights.

They charge way too much for this room. Bathroom is 5 stars and the balcony 5 stars but don’t plan on sleeping during this trip and the pool was so awesomely cool until the end of the day swimming I go to get outta the pool and there under my chair was a half dead rat, EW!! The frig and microwave were gross the storage enchilada don’t sit or put your luggage on Bc it’s broken I had two 16 year olds and a six year old with me. The space is not big enough for all of us The master bed is way too big for the space and the bed was broke on on side so whom ever got that side slide down to the floor. Then by the six day we had to put a bowl under the ceiling from the kitchen to the living area Bc it was leaking water. As much a I paid and for how long I stayed you would think they would supply clean towels and linens every three days nope! And they did not give us a complementary pack of 12 paper we had to go buy toilet paper we had to go buy trash bags this place was horrible and tons of homeless ppl

Not What We Expected

Upon entering the condo, the first thing that caught our attention was that the bed was on the floor! I am not sure if it fell prior to the condo being prepped for our arrival or after, but the bed was made up and was sitting on the floor. The covers on the bed and the couch also had stains on them both. The condo was also not set up at all like it was shown on the pictures which is in a sense false advertisement because we booked the room based off of the pictures and reviews. My husband and I were completely unsatisfied with the condo and immediately knew that we would not be able to stay there. We immediately reached out to Vacasa and requested a new place to stay for our trip.

We had a great trip

The property was in a safe location. Restaurants within walking distance where delicious and there was a variety. The views from the balcony or beautiful. We enjoy the pool and walking out on the docks. It was a little tight for us. I was traveling with my teenager and 10 year old. There was not real room to open the sofa bed for my teen without impeding walkways but he was fine sleeping on the couch. Extra towels would have been helpful especially considering I do travel with children and they are not always careful about getting water on the floor. When I requested extra towels I was told that would not be possible. Otherwise we enjoyed everything and the property met my expectations.

Stay away from this property!

The small unit was filthy! My husband found a large “chunk” of who knows what under the dresser; the carpets were so dirty and stained we would not walk without our sandals; and there was mold and mildew around the tub. The smell was disgusting, the mattress was horrible, and the “kitchen” was tiny, dirty, and severally understocked. The only positive was the bay and pool view from the balcony. We were so disappointed with the accommodations that we cut our vacation short by 2 days. Unless you don’t care about cleanliness, do NOT stay here!!!!

You get what you pay for (FYI, we did not communicate with Property Mgr but had to rate it)

I chose this property because our family needed an inexpensive place to stay while in town for a softball tourney. When we arrived the studio was clean and appeared cared for. Knowing that we wouldn't spend too much time in the room, it seemed to fit our needs. However, there were a number of little - moderate issues that we didn't encounter right away. The vast majority of the time, the elevator wasn't working (we had a 3rd fl studio). Fortunately, we had no disability issues, otherwise we would've needed to move. It made getting groceries to the room & coming back after all-day softball games not very pleasant. The dresser drawers were loose on the tracks, so we had to be mindful each time we opened one, otherwise the entire drawer would fall to the floor. One of the lights didn't work. Our daughter had to sleep on top of the sofa because the sofa bed mattress is super thin with rusty sounding springs. It was unbearable to just sit on the mattress, let alone sleep on it. There were fitted & top sheets for sofabed, but no pillow cases, and the two pillows provided were stained (couldn't tell if one was just stained or actually mildewed). The kitchenette was really small and the pots provided were too big to fit on a burner. We didn't expect to do any serious cooking, but we were concerned that even boiling water might set off the smoke detector. The shower curtain rod is super rusty, so we couldn't hang wet swimsuits or towels over it. The information email about washers/dryers indicated that the cost is $1.50 for each, but it's actually $2.00. That wouldn't have been a big deal if we hadn't made a special trip to the store to get $3.00 in quarters to do laundry, and after a long day with the elevators not working, we had to make another trip out to get an additional $1.00 in change. As we tried to tidy up, the broom provided had frayed bristles that made more of a mess than it cleaned. With those negatives noted, the location was really good and easy to get to and get around, there were small amenities including a couple of laundry pods & laundry sheets, dishwashing liquid, iron/small ironing board, Meyers hand soap (good quality), clean, extra towels and 2 beach towels. The AC worked the entire time and maintained a very comfortable temperature. The pool was nice and well maintained. This studio was 1/2 the price of the more expensive properties in the area. We knew we were getting no frills, but expected the basics to be better.

50th birthday vacation

Had an amazing time! Was not happy with my adult son having to sleep on air mattress because lay out couch was too uncomfortable that was the reason we rented that room for the extra queen pull out sofa the cleaning lady told us that the last people who stayed complained also. The owner should take that out and get a new one or take off website that was a selling point for me having a grown adult with us.

Inside of microwave rusty and coming apart. Sofa hide a bed very uncomfortable. Springs could be felt through the very thin mattress. Silverware left uncovered on top of outdated refrigerator. Small stovetop and no oven. Unit definitely needs to be updated. Shower rod rusty and came off on towel.

Great place to stay!!

Seeing our condo was the start of our vacation and it definitely made us fall in love withFort Walton from the beginning! Very clean, nice and comfortable and the view was amazing! The laundry facility was close and very helpful and convenient! This condo is perfect if you dont want to feel overly crowded but is close enough to get to everywhere you need to go to do some amazing things! We already cannot wait to be back!!!

Great Time

We traveled over for a boating weekend. This unit has a dock slip which made things so easy. The room was nice. However, four adults is almost too much for this unit. Nevertheless, it was nice, clean and accessible. Really enjoyed it and will be renting there again next year.
