Just a few minutes’ walk from the nearest beach, or take in one of the many local attractions and beauty spots along this amazing coastline. Local picturesque seaside town of Sooke is just 12km away with fabulous restaurants, galleries and shops, offering many local facilities and possibilities including fishing excursions, kayaking, and whale watching. Port Renfrew is just an hour away with amazing beaches and parks; Botanical Bay has rich tides pools and stunning geological features. Just an hour in the opposite direction takes you to Victoria, British Columbia’s capital city, where charm and adventure await.

Great stay and location

Our family loved this location. Our kids spent time playing with the goats, the house was very comfortable, and we were very close to a number of great beaches and hiking trails.

Charming cozy cottage

Warm cozy cottage, very comfortable, Mark and Marie are gracious hosts, and we especially enjoyed getting to know the goats, sheep and chickens, not to mention freshly-laid eggs for breakfast. Quiet but convenient location for exploring the woods and beaches nearby.

Cozy Spring Break Getaway

We spent a few days of Spring Break at Diamond Cottage with our two teenage kids and had a pleasant, stress-free stay. The kids love animals and there are chickens, roosters, sheep and goats at this cute little getaway spot. The kids loved interacting with the animals and it was so lovely of the hosts to invite us to gather some freshly laid eggs for our breakfast. We enjoyed them fried up over-easy with avocado on buttered toast, so be sure to bring bread and butter with you! There is a lovely beach for shell-seeking and rock-hounding at Muir Creek Beach just a short drive, (less than a minute) away, and a manageable walk even for someone with bad knees such as myself. Would certainly recommend this property to animal lovers

Nice little spot near Sooke

Easy to get to on the West Coast highway. Clean and bright with three comfortable beds. The windows look right out onto the goat and chicken pens which makes for some fun viewing. The only thing I would suggest is to have some lamps in the living room since the overhead lights are a bit too bright.

What a Gem

We were passing through and with the rainy weather we decided to go indoors instead of camp and this place was everything you want and more . Very friendly hosts offering fresh eggs for breakfast and full free range to play with the farm animals .

Family Vacation

This was our second time at Diamond Cottage within 6 months. It feels like home to us, and our daughter is obsessed with the animals. Such a wonderful place, we can’t wait to come back soon!

Great location and fun stay

Thanks for a great stay. The cottage is very cozy inside, with everything needed and more! All the amenities (washer/dryer, dishwasher) were appreciated. Lovely decor and comfy beds! We were 2 adults/2 teens and we all enjoyed the fresh eggs, chickens and goats. It's a little close to the highway if you are a light sleeper (not a busy road after dark), and while you can walk to the beach, the walk is along the narrow highway. Note that there is no TV and a lot of games, which for us was great. Owners are very fast to respond, and very helpful. Overall it was a good location for us and a pleasant stay, thank you!

Goats and love

Stayed here to be close to my family's wedding and are huge animal lovers. We had a very comfortable stay exactly as described and will be back for sure. Highly recommend

Lovely retreat!

Excellent location to discover the coast from Sooke to Port Renfrew. The house is directly on Route 14, near the coast (10 min walk along the Route to the next beach). We loved the goats, cheeps and other animals on the property! Thanks to Marie and Mark for being such lovely hosts!

Great Central location for small outings, lots to do in the area. Loved the small goats, we enjoyed sitting on the deck and watching them play. Mark and Marie were great hosts, they went the extra mile for us, it was a pleasure getting to know them, thanks for everything!

Great vacation

The location is great for exploring the beaches, especially Botanical Beach, and it is also close to Victoria. We also enjoyed the Sooke Potholes. The recommendations for restaurants that our hosts gave us were very helpful. Watching and feeding the goats was a lot of fun.

Spoke Getaway

Diamond cottage is the ideal location for day trips/hiking! There are lots of beaches and hiking trails within a short distance! The cottage itself is supplied with anything you would ever need and the ability to communicate with the property manager is quick and easy if needed! Extremely friendly and willing to offer information about the area! It was close enough to Victoria to have family who lives there visit. We are all animal lovers, so it was great to have a dog friendly environment and the ability to visit with chickens, ducks, sheep and goats was a plus.

Quaint cottage with humour

Beautiful quaint cottage amongst trees with chickens and goats for fun entertainment. The owners were friendly and delightful, warm and welcoming. I would prefer a bit further from highway noise and for signage at road to be larger/more clear as finding the small entrance was challenging especially at night. We loved the humour within the cabin. Our pets were welcomed. We would definitely stay again..close to several eateries, the beach and scenery that is spectacular, plus business people and folks in Sooke that are also friendly! We came for a TICA cat show and truly enjoyed ourselves.

Family holiday

We stayed at Diamond Cottage for three nights for my brother’s wedding nearby at French Beach Provincial Park. Marc and Marie were very friendly and welcoming and were happy to let our kids interact with their barnyard animals. We so appreciated being able to host a dinner at the cottage with some family and friends. The house was very clean and there were plenty of kitchen items and extra towels etc. We will definitely stay here again!

Diamond Cottage

Thank you Mark and Marie. We had the pleasure of staying 5 nights at your amazing cottage. Everything was even better than described. The animals were so much fun especially Mr.Frizzel .Mark was very informative about the area and Marie showed us the newborn chicks. The goats were entertaining. The cottage was clean and very well stocked with everything we needed. We will definitely be returning. Thank you for the special Easter treats that made our Easter holiday even better! Perfect location and welcoming hosts

My teenage kids and I loved this cottage on the outskirts of Sooke. It was the perfect base for us to explore the area -- an easy drive back into Victoria, but close enough to Port Renfrew and Botanical Beach for an easy day of hiking on various beaches. The hosts were incredibly kind and helpful, giving us tips on area attractions (like the Saturday night fireworks at Butchart Gardens). And my kids were charmed by the goats and sheep. We highly recommend Diamond Cottage!

Perfect Family Friendly Stay

There are just no words that could adequately capture what a wonderful time we had. Everything was just perfect for our holiday with our grandchildren. The mini farm was such a hit and Mark and Marie were the best hosts we ever had. So friendly. So accommodating. We would definitely book this again. Our grandchildren were sad to leave. Perfect!

Diamond Cottage exceeded our expectations. It's a lovely property - extremely clean and comfortable, well stocked, private and yet the owners are easily accessible if needed. Marie and Mark are wonderful hosts, charming, lovely, kind people. The location is perfect - just minutes to Sooke, an hour to Port Renfrew, less than an hour from Victoria. Close to fabulous hiking, beaches and great restaurants. We loved the large back yard surrounded by trees, and were allowed to go into the enclosures and play with the adorable goats and sheep! We didn't want to leave...

Good location, nice folks, cute animal, needs a deep clean and update

Mark was a lovely host and the animals are great fun. The location between Sooke and the array of beaches can’t be beat. However, we found the house in need a deep clean. All the windows inside were dirty and a bit moldy. The couch was old and worn and you sink in as soon as you sit. The exterior needed a wash down - cobwebs, dirt, mold. ( I also live on a PNW island in the forest, so I’m no stranger to all that comes with that. I wouldn’t rent my place without frequently cleaning and maintaining inside and outside.)

Quiet, remote, peaceful and the goats are cute.

We stayed over the Christmas break because my son was in town and I only have a one bedroom. We had to bring the kitty, so that limited our choices too. The cabin is spacious, cute, and quiet and the beds are comfy. Even with it being on the main road in Shirley, we didn't hear the traffic. At night, to say it was dark was an understatement but we loved that part. We couldn't get the fireplace to work however, and there were a few things that didn't work like the sensor-motion lights in the driveway. There was no TV, and we wanted to binge, so we went home and brought our own and a computer to stream Netflix. Some of the supplies were great, like extra tea and coffee and condiments, but others needed work, like the frying pans. If you want to make a pie, bring your own mixer and plate. I had to use a wine bottle for a rolling pin. I made Christmas dinner one night, and I made another trip home, which wasn't far, to bring my own pots and pans for the task. For the rate, the cabin would have been great. However by the time all the add-ons for VRBO happened, an inexpensive break cost as much as a hotel. I likely won't search VRBO again because of the fees. The cabin was advertised as very inexpensive, and so it should be considering the season and location. It ended up, after all the fees to be more than an middle class downtown hotel.

Great vacation spot

This was our second stay at Diamond Cottage, very family and pet friendly, comfortable and cozy. Mark and Marie are great hosts. The goats, sheep and chickens are very entertaining. Highly recommend it and look forward to staying here again.

Shirley vacation

What a beautiful spot and easy to get to. The animals on the property were adorable!! The cottage was clean, quiet, and had everything you need. I would definitely recommend this place!
