Sascha's Retreat The Hunter Valley -Pokolbin - Pet friendly- Unlimited NBN Wi-Fi

The Cottage and Noir Abode ( sleeps 15 people combined)

This property consists of two dwellings approx 80m apart with a central pool. There is a lovingly restored Mine Managers "Cottage" with all the modern conveniences., that sleeps 8. In addition, there is a new bespoke architecturally designed 3bdr room home with polished concrete floor with underfloor heating, that sleeps 7. -Called "Noir Abode-finished construction Feb 2024"

The homes are set on 50 acres, and your group would be the only guests. It is a perfect escape for family and friends, wedding and reunions. It’s also pet friendly.

It has a private 6-hole range golf course, challenging for all types of golfers, as well as dams with yabbies and perch.

There are BMX style jumps and tyre swings for the kids, along with 30 acres of groomed grass to safely wear the kids and pets out.

The pool and entertainment area are perfect for a sunset drink and swim, whilst taking in the beautiful views of the Broken Back Range.

We are in the heart of the concerts and award-winning restaurants in the Hunter Valley. Set just 2 km away from the Vintage Golf Course, the Bimbadgen Winery on MacDonald’s Road and a mere 6-minute drive to Hope Estate.

Concerts

The majority of concerts are held at Bimbadgen Estate (20 min walk away, 4-5 min drive), Hope Estate or Roche Estate which are both a 10 min drive away.

If you speak directly with Rover Coaches, they will do a pick up and drop off door to door. Unfortunately, they only run on the major concerts. Ensure you call them in advance to book your seat before they sell out. The coast of the coach fares is approx. $20 per person last time I checked.

Weddings, Engagements & Events at Sascha’s Retreat

Saschas Retreat is an ideal venue to hold relatively small and affordable weddings.
The guidelines are:

1 Naturally only 15 people can stay overnight across both properties (we are not a campsite for caravans, trailers or individual tents, as this requires additional council approval).

2. We have several wedding packages, for consideration, as we cater for small boutique weddings. Packages are available upon request. If you wish to hold a post-wedding BBQ the following day, there are no additional costs.

3. Our event organiser and stylist can remove a lot of the stress when planning an event. They are included in our packages and cater to a wide variety of events (weddings, cocktail parties, birthdays etc).

4. Marquees have been set up historically and we can introduce you to a local supplier, if you so desire.

7. Naturally, we don’t have kitchenware, glasses or cutlery to support additional guests. These will need to be organised by yourself, or hired (we can recommend a few event hire companies).

8 The external aspects of the property are covered by video surveillance.

9. There is an agreed time to when celebrations and music will finish (non-staying guests will vacate the property)

Fantastic Location

Ideal for a large family gathering and the location is perfect for touring the Hunter Valley VineyardsWe were little disappointed, with the state of repair of the older house, it was in need of a bit of a refresh.The pool was fantastic, morning breakfast and afternoon drinks were very much enjoyed on the rear balcony, overlooking the property. In the mornings you can watch the kangaroos coming and going with the added spectacle of hot air balloons roaming the sky above

Perfect place for a family get-together

Sascha's retreat is in a beautiful location, closeby to all of the lovely wineries and experiences on offer around Pokolbin. The host, Stephen, was easy to communicate with and provided lots of local knowledge and tips to enhance our experience. There are two dwellings on the property; Noir Abode which is pretty flash! The other is a cottage, which has had some upgrades and is comfortable and clean. Other than a resident possum on the roof, we slept comfortably and the kids loved their time outdoors, riding bikes, swimming in the pool and playing by the dam. We thoroughly enjoyed the golf and would love to come and stay again in the future. Thank you, Stephen! The

Great place for family gathering.

The golf course was interesting but we had fun playing with both adults and children. Dam fascinated children who were trying to catch yabbies..no luck but they did see kangaroos. Swimming pool was well used and the shaded area with comfortable lounge chairs were great. Dogs loved the huge land area and actually were worn out as were the children riding bikes hitting golf balls and running around. Wonderful vista of the Balloons such a majestical sight.Good size entertaining verandah area with view down to green. Kitchen in cottage small and probably needs updating but plates, cutlery, pots pans, salad dishes etc in abundance. The new build was excellent and great view from the top balcony, Easy drive to all winerys and shops. Manager very helpful and we were fortunate to be able to get into new build 2 hours early and leave 1 hour later.

Making memories

Great location for a Birthday long weekend! 10 friends for a chilled out Birthday celebration……always hot in February so the Pool was the best followed by the afternoon breeze & Air conditioning inside for a rest…. Had a warm up swing the day before playing The Vi rage Golf course 10mins away !! And of course some wine tastings. We will be back

Amazing Property

Great property in Hunter Valley that has incredible views, convenient location and everything you need for a group getaway. Stephen was a fantastic host and was able to answer and assist any questions needed promptly.I would certainly recommend booking this property for a great holiday stay.

Amazing Retreat

As a family of 9 with 2 little ones we wanted somewhere special to celebrate a 60th birthday where we could all be together.Sacha’s retreat was everything we asked for. Everyone had a spacious bedroom and there are bathrooms a plenty. We spent 4 days simply enjoying the tranquility. Swimming in the pristine pool and hitting some balls on the private golf course. Watching the kangaroos and marvelling at the display of hot air balloons in the early morning. The kitchens provided everything we needed to prepare meals and the BBQ was a great addition. Stephen was a great host, replying to any queries we had during our stay. His attention to detail was great and the emails containing info on directions and detailing the special aspects of the property were so helpful Quite simply an amazing property in a beautiful spot….

Incredible location, gorgeous property, we'll be back!

Sacha's Retreat was an incredible stay, comfortably slept our large group with each couple getting their own space. All the amenities and appliances we could have ever needed, plus board games, lawn games, pantry basics, a BBQ and more! The cottage is classic and gorgeous and the abode is modern, and spaces but still very homey- not to mention the stunning views and pool. The property was easy to find and accessible for all vehicles- including our vineyard tour bus- and while being on acreage, was still close to local shops and other lovely wineries. The owner was lovely and very helpful too, very responsive and personable- we were able to check in early and check out late. The perfect spot for a getaway- we'll be back to Sacha's Retreat!

This property is the perfect retreat, close to wineries and shops for essentials and a lovely pool to swim in. The rooms are large and lovely and the aircon works a treat on hot days! Would definitely rent again!

Leeca’s 60th Birthday

The property was great and we enjoyed the Area. We got to use all the property had to offer. We played golf, went for walks, swam in the pool, got to ride our bikes around the property, played games and had some really nice breakfast’s, lunches and dinners. We saw lots of Kangaroos in the mornings and the afternoons. We would definitely refer people to stay at this property.

Peaceful stay

This is an older property. Magnificent property land. Plenty of car spaces. Didn't understand the two separate front door entrances ??We stayed 2 nights. Huge modern bathrooms x2. One bathroom accommodated laundry needs nicely. should you require to wash. Open fireplace for winter. Split air con in main living area. Air cons in two bedrooms with ceiling fan and TV in ensuite bedroom. Proximity to White Barn wedding venue was excellent. less than 2km. Our guest provided excellent kitchen needs. Plenty of utensils, crockery, pots & pans etc, etc. A beautiful peaceful stay. Too cold to swim, but an amazing pool with surrounds. We had a BBQ lunch which was great. Wrap around verandahs. A day bed. The boys played golf. they said it was fun and right in the backyard. lots of bird life and kangaroos. Our host Stephen was very very helpful. Overall, we had a great short stay, and this is an amazing property for families and or a group of friends.

Fantastic getaway spot

Our family (two dogs, toddler and two adults) thoroughly enjoyed the expansive property. Fully equipped and very quiet. 10 - 15 min drive to Pokolbin. Communications from Stephen was excellent. Highly recommended.

Comfortable Home, Beautiful Property, Great Location

Sascher’s Retreat was a wonderful place to take our 2 dogs and visiting family from Canada, including a 9-year-old. We were perfectly comfortable there through our week of extreme weather, including watching a spectacular storm across the valley from the back veranda. There was plenty to keep us entertained for the week at the property and we were 10-15 minutes from many Hunter Valley activities, including 22 local dog friendly wineries and 18 dog friendly restaurants, all recommended by our incredible host Stephen. We could not have been more impressed by Stephen. He promptly answered any questions we had before and during our stay. We all had a great time!

This is our second stay at this gorgeous property and we loved it just as much the second time around, in terms of cleanliness, space and everything provided. Stephen was a great host as well. The weather wasn’t ideal but The Hunter Valley is always one of my favourite places to visit and Sascha’s Retreat is the best place during.

Cool in the pool for a relaxing weekend

Sacha's retreat is a well located and setup comfortable place for a great weekend with family or friends at the wineries, or in our case for a concert, with some extra little touches that make it more fun. It was a stinking hot weekend and we really appreciated the air con/ceiling fans inside and the beautiful pool for a full cool down. We didn't have time to fully explore the golf course or the dam amenities - maybe next time! But the view of 8 hot air balloons drifting over/near us and kangaroos close by on our last morning capped of a great weekend stay.

Character filled escape

Plenty of old world charm and character mixed with the comforts of home. Our days were filled with outside action. Our son gave his new mountain bike plenty of airtime over the jump. Our daughter used the outdoor day bed to chill whilst she wrote. Our groodle went nuts running and roaming the grounds, chasing the bike, the ball and the dead fish floating in the pond. Many a golf ball was sent flying down to the flag (and mostly retrieved). Plenty of space for everyone to do their thing be that in or out. Easy access to vineyards and Coles. Highly recommend the escape

Why they chose this property

Its been privately held for 21 years and only in the last few have we opened it to guests. The property was uninhabitable 20 years ago, so a lot of time, blood sweat and tears

What makes this property unique

Whilst we have stunning views over the hinter valley, sugar loaf mountain and the broken back ridge, you feel uniquely private as there is only one neighbour - which is approx 800 metres away. I've been told the golf range course is exceptionally hard and challenging for the most experienced golfers, If your passion is fishing there are yellow tail perch in the dam and the billabong does have fresh water bass.

The land is cleared for approx 20 acres so you can enjoy nature habitats best for a further 80b acres with all the Australian wildlife you would expect in their natural habitat.
There a selection of fresh herbs for the cuisine lovers with a lighted and free standing covered bbq for those special moments .

In addition we often set up the free standing tables to dine either around the pool area, or in the shade or sun , depending on the weather of the Hunter.

I believe we have now received more 5 star reviews than any other property in the hunter- so please read them as we have worked very hard to ensure you have a lovely stay
