PROPERTY DESCRIPTION
This adults-only property is perched on 20 acres with spectacular views all the way to Mount Dandenong and beyond. This stunning ultra modern self contained architect-designed house is located among some of Yarra Valley's finest wineries with Kinglake National Park as a backdrop.

This quality entertaining house boasts a large undercover outdoor deck area with custom built solar heated pool, outdoor fireplace and large sun deck overlooking the Yarra Valley and beyond with outdoor furniture and pool lounge chairs. Take a walk on our private trail to the top of the hill overlooking the Kinglake National Park.

It boasts 3 large king size bedrooms and 3 bathrooms with 5 star hotel quality fittings and fixtures including sunken bath in the main ensuite under a cathedral ceiling.

The open-plan dining and lounge has huge 10 metre wide glass bi-fold doors that open onto the deck area. The kitchen is well appointed with European appliances with lots of tools you need to have a fabulous cook-up after an exciting day of wine tasting, golf or a spa treatment. It has reverse cycle heating and cooling and/or ceiling fans in the bedrooms and hydronic heating as well as two indoor fireplaces.

Enjoy a game of pool on the pool table under another cathedral ceiling in the north wing complete with wet bar and library.

Perfect for a girls weekend away!

We had an amazing stay for a much needed girl weekend! About 15mins to shops and wineries, but everything we really needed we had at the accommodation! Gorgeous views, comfy beds and a perfect kitchen. We even had the weather to enjoy a pool day! Denise was so helpful and easy to communicate with. With definitely recommend!

Perfect for three couples

Excellent location – a short drive to Yarra Glen and a selection of wineries. The property was comfortable and very well-appointed, perfect for three couples celebrating a significant birthday. Inclement weather prevented us from using the pool and alfresco area, but the views from the central living area were stunning, and we enjoyed sitting by the fire watching Mother Nature put on a show. Communication from the host was prompt and detailed. Highly recommend.

Fantastic property

It was a beautiful setting on the hill and surrounded by forest with a great outlook. Very peaceful. The heating worked well and the place is very well equipped with everything you could possibly need. Really enjoyed our stay and highly recommended.

Great base to explore Yarra Valley

Countryside retreat

The home worked perfectly with the seperate zoning. The kitchen had every convenience therefore cooking as a group was a joy. Most of all the views which we woke to each morning were the highlight. Denise was an absolutely delight to deal with. Nothing was too much trouble.

Everything about this property is delightful. The house is thoughtfully designed to maximise the views and give guests a sense of space and opulence. Exceptional luxury adult retreat home

This is an exceptional personal property in beautiful, Steels Creek, Yarra Valley. Private, full amenities, quirky and peaceful! We stayed for a week and wish we could have stayed longer. When we we weren't luxuriating in the house with that expansive sensational view, we were exploring and participating in activities in the area.

Amazing home with wonderful views.

We had organised a weekend away with our adult children and were not disappointed as the house was situated with views over the Yarra Valley. We found everything as stated on the site with Denise & Patrick going into great detail to explain appliances to art work. We would definitely recommend this special house.

Superb luxury get-away

A fabulous property, it is just as good as the pics on the website. Dealing with Denise was a dream. The house is perfectly set up for 3 couples, with a fully stocked kitchen and loads of little extras (like coffee pods, oils/condiments etc). Everything works - the heating, wifi, TV. Too cold for a swim but we relaxed by the fire, played a few rounds of bocce and had a super time

Return visit

A fantastic weekend away - again. We visited 6 months ago, and immediately rebooked. A warm summer weekend with lazing by the pool, throwing open the deck doors, gorgeous sunsets, the fans keeping everything cool, plenty of spritzes and gimlets and bubbles. The place is brilliant, just as it was last time. Everything is there for you, so we self cater and dont leave until its time to check out. Cant think of a better way to relax! Thanks again, Denise

Great Family Celebration Weekend Away

We stayed at this property in winter. We spent our time with our adult children and their partners to celebrate my 60th Birthday. The generosity of the hosts, Denise and Patrick was truly appreciated. Such a beautiful space in which to celebrate this milestone. Best weekend of my life

Couldnt have asked for a better property for a romantic weekend away. I decided to propose at the venue, was blown away by the assistance Denise and Sue provided me for the big day. Aside from their 5 star service the property is beyond magical. The space is so large 3 couples could enjoy in luxury, felt a bit silly for just the two of us but we loved having so much space. The view out over the Yarra Ranges was so peaceful also. Its perfectly positioned a short drive from all the wineries. We’ll remember this property forever and hope to stay again some time soon!

Quiet, comfortable with an abundance of wildlife

Impressive secluded property with lots of room, a very well equipped kitchen, including all the basic pantry items, and a bottle of bubbles on arrival. The primary bedroom suite is very modern and spacious (perhaps not for those who value their personal privacy as it’s all completely open plan). I loved all the storage in the walk-in robe. The two other bedrooms had pull-out beds but were still very comfortable. The weather wasn’t great during our stay but there was plenty of air con and access to the pool (we didn’t end up using the pool as we were out every day and evenings) should the temperatures rise. There was a lot of the owners personal artworks on display, inside and out, which served as a constant reminder we were in someone’s personal space, rather than your generic holiday let. The host, Denise, was very kind, offering helpful advice on local eateries and tips for getting the best use from the property. The local countryside is stunning and just bursting with wildlife, rabbits, kangaroos, kookaburras, magpies, and we even saw the odd fox. The location of the property made it a handy base for visiting the many wineries in the Yarra, if Chardonnay and/or Pinot Noir are your drop of choice, you’re in luck.

Beware. Do not book. This place was not as described & not cleaned for our visit.

Regrettably we paid in advance. We traveled from the USA and then drove 1.5 hours to the property to get the place all set up before we picked up our family from the airport later in the day. We were greeted by a haunted looking, armless, weather-beaten mannequin out side the door and hay-caked mud tracks across the entry stairwell. The listing brags about the outdoor area and pool (largely why we booked) All of the outdoor furniture was dusted over and clogged with spider webs and insects. We lifted the cover on the pool, only to find that there was dirt and grime coating the tiles inside. Also dirty children’s foot prints around the decking. All of which indicate cleaning prior to our arrival had not occurred. Inside we found a couple hairs in the sink and toilet but flushed them down. Noticed that gallery wall featured on the listings actually featured holes where art used to be. We found the AC unit in the living room to be unresponsive. We tried all our tricks, swap the batteries around, try the remote from the other unit, switches on the well etc. Nothing - So no AC in the middle of summer in Australia. In the master bedroom we noticed unsettling clusters in the rafters above the bed - dust and cob webs? or some sort of nest? - couldn’t get close enough to confirm. We wanted to call via a local phone and explain our issues but had no way making an international call to Japan! - where the property owners are based (had not prepared for this curveball). We messaged the owners via VRBO immediately with our issues and concerns. With family arriving soon and no clear signs of if or how soon we would get a response about our mounting issues, we made a very hard decision to leave the property and notify the owners as such. Weeks have passed - owners have yet to accept that their place was dirty and unprepared and have asked us to stop trying to reason with them about some sort of refund. Despite photo documentation & detailed descriptions of our issues, the property owners fail to acknowledge any wrong doing or recognize our concerns, instead implying that we simply changed our mind or double booked - begging the question why would we drive several hours round trip to then pretend to have issues, photograph it, provide documentation and then leave. The only response owners have provided is suspicion of our characters and motive when we are the ones who had our trip ruined and lost our money. The photos speak for themselves.

Hello there. We are Denise & Patrick McCann. We purchased the property in 2007 as a tree-change after the loss of our only son, Aidan. I am a qualified Sommelier and have worked in and around the wineries of Yarra Valley since 2001. We love wine, food, travel, restaurants, bars and fresh food markets.
We are now based overseas and enjoy that our house is available for equally discerning gourmet food and wine travellers to stay at our house and enjoy the best of the Yarra Valley and surrounds.

Why they chose this property

We rebuilt our home after losing everything in the Black Saturday fires in 2009. It's a beautiful place to live and visit especially being only one hour's drive from Melbourne CBD.
